Dead like me
I just cought the pilot Last night on Showtime and thought it has a lot of potential. I am not a fan of HBO and showtime series but this one stood out. I thought the beliefs and idea of what the afterlife was like were well thought out yet still humorous.
Anyone else watch it? Thoughts? |
I saw the previews, it looks good. I don't get showtime, but if I hear good thing about I probaly pick it up on DVD.
|
i set it to PVR, cuz i thought it looked kinda like six feet under (which i love) so i figured i'd give it a whirl. haven't had time to watch it though.
|
Unfortunately I fell asleep during the show, but I saw the first 45 minutes or so, and it looked really good. I'll have to try to catch it again sometime soon...
|
I thought it was great! Very interesting take on the afterlife, and the lead actress is cute and mopey in a Daria-ish kind of way.
One thing I'm not exactly clear on, though... are the Reapers supposed to be able to turn invisible again at will? I'm thinking about the bit with the little girl at the end, when everyone just witnessed her keeling over at the fireside, and the Reaper-girl walking away. It would seem suspicious, and would probably make things for her difficult in the future. Not only that, they'd look insane carrying on conversations with people that aren't there. |

Other than that, I thought it was a pretty funny show. |
Dead Like Me
Anyone catch this show on Showtime? I havent had time to sit down and watch it but i have heard good things, your thoughts...
|
I dont have showtime, but I want to see it. Im a fan of Rebecca Gayheart and the it seams to have a good idea.
|
I was really, really disappointed with the first episode. That said, the series definately has picked up steam, with ep 5 on this week. The last two, especialy were great.
|
hmm...i may have to start tuning in
|
Dead Like Me
Now Im sure those of you in the States know this show, but it only recently started playing in Canada. (Its a Showtime original). I spent the last week downloading every episode, I was hooked so badly.
Has anyone else watched it? Loved it? (oh yeah, and I'm in love with Ellen Muth, but don't tell her *g*) |
Yah, I watched most of it but missed like the last 3 episodes of the first(only?) season so I'm not sure what happens :)
At first I really liked it but it started to lose steam, maybe because I hated waiting until the next week and it was on the weekend and I hated being home.. Anyways I liked it :) |
|
With the whole, disapearing thing.. I think that its more of a, people just don't pay attention to you.. The reaper's physical appearance is very bland.. UnGeorge is an example.. (the actress is a stunt double actually).. They just sorta blend in
|
Thanks DJP, I can't search the forums right now, so I did a quick scan, but couldnt see any others
CyberMike - Yes there is only one season right now. Second season is starting 2004 (another 15 episodes have been paid for by Showtime) |
Merged for your convenience.

I've seen maybe a half dozen episodes. As usual, Mandy Potenkin (sp?) is awesome. I'ts been months since I have watched it though, so that's about the only thing I really remember, besides a general sense that, yeah, that'll do. Oh, and that the episode where on of the reapers moves on was absolutely incredible: one of the best things I've ever seen on TV.

"I'm gonna kill that fuckin' baby" :D

"The key is on my willy.. My willy is the key?"
|
I thought I'd revive this dead thread...
Get it...dead thread? Anybody? Awww...screw you guys. I caught the season premire of this tonight (thanks Tivo!) and I remembered why I loved this show so much the first season. Damn it's funny. You've gotta love Mandy Patinkin... his comebacks and one-liners make the show great. |
I caught that, fhqwhgads. :D Funny.
This series looks pretty cool, but I can't justify getting Showtime just for this. (Their movies aren't very good.) I'm gonna look into renting the dvd's on Netflix. |
I'm with you fhqwhgads, I forgot how much I liked this show because it seems like it's been so long since It's been on.
|
:) I just did a whole season of Dead Like Me this past week and weekend. I just caught the 2nd season... nice. I like the show.
|
2nd season?!?!?!?!?
|
Yeah,
They are on the second season. Last Sunday was the first episode, it was really good. Looking forward to the rest. V. |
I have downloaded the first 5 eps of the second season. Pretty damn good.
I only got in the first season a few months ago. Love it. Hope this runs for a while! |
cant get the episodes on TV
cant seem to download ANY of the season two episodes is angry ;) |
DEAD LIKE ME tv program series
Have you seen any of the "Dead Like Me" cable TV and now on DVD
TV series? It is a very weird but interesting program I think and the cast plus some of it's music make it fun to watch and a series that is not as boring as most I tune in. Just wondering if any have any comments on this as I have seen nothing about the program and how good it is except from the late night talk show host :Art Bell who also likes it. |
I watched season one over here in the UK, and i must say that i loved it.
The dark sense of humor it uses really makes a change from the norm, definatly a great show. Good storylines, and actors that really make it come to life. I'm just waiting for season two  |
great show, though at college I dont get showtime so i havent watched this new season, which is a bummer, Ill have to catch up in the summer.
|
Love this show. Watched the first season on dvd...can't wait for the 2nd. Dark humor is the best.
|
I enjoyed it immensly. I'm about half way through the second season though, and it started to wear a little thin. It's starting picking up again though, thankfully. I think the problem is the characters remained stagnant for too long. But they're finally developing them again (especially Rube and Mason).
|
nice show... I enjoy it. well written.
|
I've always had a bit of a soft spot for Mandy Patankin (I hope I spelled that right :) ). I absolutely loved The Princess Bride and his role of as the vengeful sword master was certainly one of the highlights of the movie.
I've seen all of the episodes and it just gets better with time. I really like the way they've fleshed out Rube and Mason. Daisy Adair was an excellent addition to the story, although, I have to admit, the character is in a rut right now. It's smart stuff. I hope the next season is as good as the rest of the series. I really enjoy it. |
Awesome show. I was really interested when the show was announced and loved it when it started. The first few episodes (until about 5 or 6) are a little bit repetative, but thats expected. Watching the characters, they really develop through season 2, but most of the time they always bring something new. The halloween episode was great fun, and the cinematography is still some of the best work I've seen for TV shows. The DVD of season one is out, and if you havent watched any of the series, I'd recomend at least giving it a try. It does have a great premise, and the dark mood of the whole thing really adds to the humor.
