Gigli going to give Jersey Girl a bad name?
 

Gigli comes out this week (I think). What I do know is that this affleck/lopez movie has been panned horribly by critics, test audiences, and pretty much everyone whose seen any of the movie and doesn't stand to loose anything.


Next year, Jersey girl is do out-Kevin Smith's first film outside the world of clerks, also staring lopez n affleck.


Assuming Gigli is truely the abomination it's supposed to be, do you think the audiences and critics will give Jersey Girl a fair chance?

I know a couple people who've seen screenings of Gigli and they all assure me it's crap and unfortunatly, I can see it hurting Jersey Girl a bit. The Kevin Smith fans will all, of course, not be put off. Instead, the ones that go see Gigli, expecting entertainment and recieving an eyefull of crap will be the ones that will be biased.

That's another concern I've got for Jersey Girl, leon. What about all the people that *think* they're Keving Smith fans, but are really just dick and fart joke fans? I saw the type a lot in college, the, "clerks is the best movie ever, I mean, a dead guy with and erection! Brilliant! chasing amy blew chunks though. bo-ring" So it seems that for the movie to succeed, there has to be a large group of people that aren't given fans of the director willing to see it. That's assuming, of course, that Jersey Girl actualy turns out ok, which isn't a given, but I am a fan, and have faith in the man.

From what I've heard Jersey Girl is going to give Jersey Girl a bad name. Early word is that Lopez is AWFUL. sk

i think everyone thinks gigli is going to fail. every time i look at afleck i keep looking at his hair to see if its a wig or not, cant concentrate on what hes doing or saying. haha

Even watching the Gigli preview is painful

She should just go into pr0n and save the world.

The difference is that Gigli is a Bennifer Lofleck (term stolen from David Letterman) that was made for the National Enquirer, Entertainment Tonight crowd, where Jersey Girl was made because Kevin Smith seems to like working with Affleck, and if he wants to keep tappin' The Most Famous Ass In The World, then J-Lo better be in it.


Anyways, I won't go to the theatre to see either of them, but I'd rent Jersey Girl.
