70's Show -What happened to....

why did Toffer Grace (Eric) leave the 70's Show on TV? Was he
making a movie or want more money from FOX?

Charlatan 05-18-2006 04:58 PM

I think he just wanted to get on with his film career... Kind of like when Ron Howard left Happy Days.

Psycho Dad 05-18-2006 08:06 PM

Not to mention that also like Happy Days, at some point these players will no longer be able to play these parts. These shows die terrible deaths eventually.

Derwood 05-18-2006 08:08 PM

he decided that he had done everything he could with his character and asked to be written out

Gatorade Frost 05-18-2006 08:29 PM

This is a strange question.... But isn't he the most important character in the show...?

feelgood 05-18-2006 09:57 PM

Not really

Well ever since Hyde moved in with the Forman's they don't need Eric to use the basement anymore. Kelso left for awhile too. I stopped watching when it was the Fez and Donna show (though Laura Prepon is still hella-hot....preferred the red hair though)

silent_jay 05-19-2006 04:31 AM

It was a decent finale last night, Foreman came back, so did Kelso, all in all a good end to a good show.

fresnelly 05-19-2006 05:05 AM

So how did they write him out? Did he go to college or something? Or did he join a travelling waterski stunt troupe?

Derwood 05-19-2006 05:30 AM

he went to Africa for some reason. Probably practicing medicine with Noah Wylie ;)

OP needs to add their own opinion. Thread will be locked if it does not get added.

Jinn 05-19-2006 06:25 AM

What happens if the OP really doesn't know? What is there to add?

they can still take their best guess and stab at it. Just like those that don't seem to know but seem to be taking wild guesses at it.

but at least frame the discussion.

here's a discussion going on right now about OPs that aren't bothering to put any context to a thread.

in this thread someone came to the appropriate forum and asked a question. If their purpose was to find someone who had the actual answer, what value would uninformed speculation have added to the OP?

Grace was cast as Eric Forman on Fox's That '70s Show, which debuted in 1998. The sitcom was successful and Grace became well known amid television watchers; he played the role until 2005, after which he left the series in order to pursue feature film work. The series was renewed for another season despite his absence.
voila! a few ppl were right.
but it still sucks that the finale didnt explain more where they were going with it.

I don't know. I guess, that the second portion question could be more or less the speculation statements.

Eric Foreman went to Africa to study teaching. For some odd reason, he took a year off after graduating from high school and had no idea what to do with his life.

And since That 70's Show is based around his character, the story started to decrease in quality. When Kelso moved to Chicago to become a bouncer for a club, the show introduced several new characters, who attempted to be the replacements for Foreman and Kelso.

and sucked. the guy who was Donna's boyfriend was horrible. And getting Jackie and Fez together was lame. Sorry to see it sorta run out of gas at the end...this was one of the most original sitcoms in recent memory

yup. after erik left, i was thinking to myself. he's either comming back now or the show is being canceled. i was wrong for both and that made it suck even more.... forman was the main character. you cant kill him off dammit!

biznatch 05-22-2006 02:06 PM

I haven't seen the new episodes at all, but I enjoy reruns..even if the jokes do tend to get a bit repetitive, Kelso reminds of a friend and Hyde is just a cool guy.

thespian86 05-24-2006 08:52 PM

Yeah, they tried to ride the success train for too long. Once your Prinicipals leave then you are bound to end it.
