A Lady on Illustrator

My mentor has told me to work on my people drawings for my portfolio.
I'd love to get you guys' opinions on the most recent.

The brief is that They don't have to look photo perfect or accurate, but I don't see my work as being very stylised so I have gone with this way of doing it. What do you think: :)

i think the faces need alot of work, but you have that flat color look down...just keep practicing

Thanks GW. I need to get it sorted, or just admit that my portrait thing IS a stylised look. I realise that the illy way ofdrawing faces could have more detail, but i'm undecided if thats the way i wanna go. Hmmm... food for thought.

i'd use a limited amount of colors, and put tons of detail in it....and work your way down if you don't like the detailed look, it's easier that way

dobster, lighten the chin and cheek shading a little, making it a bit more rosy than brown. It'll still help define the faces, but it won't be as easily mistaken for facial hair (especially on your ladies!)

But the linework is lovely! Especially in the first pic! She's beautiful.

Illustrator does not necessarily have to be a stylized look. Using the gradient mesh tool can make your faces really look almost photo-realistic. Not sure if you ar looking for that style, but it can be done.

I have been playing with the gradient mesh tool since seeing the amazing work that another TFP'er pointed out when they posted this link...
