A pair of pieces 2 Attachment(s) I have a couple of pieces I'm submitting for a show in Toronto called Square Foot. The outer dimension of the work has to be exactly 1 square foot. Everything in the show is priced at $200 Canadian and the gallery is taking 50% commission, so I am not busting myself trying to make masterpieces only to sell them for a hundred bucks each. But on the other hand it is a fine excuse to experiment with media and colour. These ladies are approximately 8" square on a 12" piece of painted plywood (approx. 20 cm square on 30 cm board). Mixed media of pencil, colour pencil and acrylics. Flower Woman and Water Reed Woman. |

Always love seeing your work. Best of luck at the show!:icare: |

That Flower Woman one is so serene and enduring. I can imagine it must've taken some to etch out all the details, but it seems as though the effort paid off! Most superb creations, Kramus! Be well and tune with that creativitity of yours. :) And Also: I would advise finding a new showcase(50% commission is outrageous!) |

1 Attachment(s) Thanks ng. I don't have any expectations, but it would be nice to move the ladies along. Jetstream, you are absolutely right about the venue. Certainly this isn't where I plan to hang my hat, so to speak. This is more of a "just for fun" gig. Sprite - same size and multi-media as the first 2 |

as always, your work is otherwordly. i'd like to see your dreams on video some day. Quote:

I love the red hair in the spirte - it stands out with just the right touch. I could spend hours staring at your work .. and I have! |

Hi doodlebird - I'm going on the "add to my CV" theory of work submission here. Whether or not I sell, I will have been in a couple of these shows. I am quite willing to ask for more from a gallery. The first thing is getting a gallery, and I haven't got a permanent presence in one yet. Baby steps, I guess. Thanks fly  How's things with you amonkie? Do you realize that because of you and a few other folks I can say "represented in private collections in Canada, the United States, Mexico and Australia" in my writeups? ;) Glad to have you look, and the experiment with the hair caught your eye. Neato. |

Kramus, as always, I find myself drawn into the energy in your pieces. Beautiful work and good luck! |

I wish I had your ability with color. This colorblind-as-a-bat TFPer can really only work in shades of gray. Really wonderful work. |

Thanks fredweena - I am glad that the work does more than sit there. That's why I leave the pencil strokes evident to the eye. It usually seems that when we can see underlying structure the pieces have more life. I liked that comment about colour, willravel. I spent a few years drawing with ink, then with pencil. People would say they wish I would use colour. Now I put colour in and it is working :) - even though you don't see it :( Actually, I neglected to look at these pieces through a piece of amberlith or rubylith ( orange or red transparent graphic film you can cut windows in for print camera work). The orange or red strips colour from a piece and allows you to see it almost as a greyscale, which is helpful when considering the balance and strength of the work. I completely forgot to look at these ladies that way, and my scanner hasn't caught their colour so I won't even try to look at the final digital image in photoshop. |

I'm going to bump all my art threads - attachments uploaded to TFP are going to be deleted as per http://www.tfproject.org/tfp/showthread.php?t=123398, and I would like to put this stuff out there one last time :) |
