Logo I Designed

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j1...m%20Logo/3.jpg

There was a logo competition in my student society, and I designed this one.

I got a mod to delete the older thread b/c I had a hit of conscience about artificially inflating the vote...

Anyway, there it is. It could only be two colours, so it had to be simple, but I really like it.

Dude. White, black and red. Three colors. What are you trying to pull here?

Ace_O_Spades 09-28-2006 10:36 PM

white t-shirt

;)

Looks great, as I already told you :p

ShaniFaye 09-29-2006 03:31 AM

I think it looks nice, could you tell us what all the things on the C represent?

Daniel_ 09-29-2006 08:13 AM

Hiya - I like it.

Didn't know you went to SFU - I got lost there once...

One question - why does every-bloody-thing in Cananda have to have a maple leaf on it? ;)

Unless it's in Kay-bek, then it has a fleur de lys. :D

I misread the thread title. I was expecting legos. Stil, it was a nice surprise. I like the Maple Leaf integrated into the LOGO.

Nice work Ace_O_Spades, clean and crisp! I'd be interested to see the top finalists.

I like the way you made the course part of the logo, targeting it so to speak. And the Canada touches with the leaf and colours, naturally. A nice combination of elegant flourish and strong design. Not that I know anything about such things, but I do know that I like this.

Great idea with the target/criminology tie in. How many thumbnails did you do to get to this one?

Do you have a version where the riminolgy letters are not outlined in black? I'm just curious how that would look.

By the way simple is good. IMO

Are you a multimedia or visual communications major?

I feel the text is way too tall and not as legible as it could be, the bold outline on the font causes confusion, the leaf looks painted on, also criminology is so bold and annoying it makes the university text seem like it's not there.

That's my critique.

Also, is that tint of red the actual schools color?

Maybe not too tall, just too tight (my first impression). I'm such a dumb American...I thought that was blood spattering, not a maple leaf  The outline is a tad thick, perhaps 1px down, which would increase the empty space between the lettering(the 'i's almost disappear as it stands). Many years ago my art teacher told us that when vertical letter meets vertical letter, they will always appear closer, so you should eyeball the space between by using the example of the indentation of the R to the I, not the outward curve. The opposite would apply to the relationship between the L and the O...see how they look further apart than the rest of the word? Those two should almost be touching.
Since I always take the liberty.....
