A question re: tfp name
 

I posted my query in the advice collumn and I hope you don't mind but I would like the ladies opinions on this one.
I am thinking of going back to my v3 name...it just somehow "fit" me better (although I would be a complete unknown again :D as I was just a baby on this wonderful site).
Does a name matter that much? This one was given to me by the person I love more than anything in a playful manner but it's not....me somehow. Should I just roll with my current name because it holds some meaning to me.....should I go with my gut which is to take back my old name....does it matter? Are you all rolling your eyes by now? *grins sheepishly*

I don't think that a name means very much. What is more important is your input and thoughts.

actually, when it comes to an online community, your "name" is your identity. Had you been known by your previous name by many? Do many know you now by this name? Although you need to be comfortable with your choice of name in the community, have you already established yourself with "Minx"?

I recognize the name "Minx" when I go through a post just as I do SexyCat, Xapphire, Plummie, SiN, and many other ladies.

Would they be the same person with a new name? Of course. But I may not recognize them for some time. It would be a "starting over" for them.

But again, the name is up to you. Like I said before, you need to be comfortable with it.

I know who Minx is, and I'll get to know who "insert-other-name-here" is too, but the transition would be smoother imo if you put in your sig, aka Minx, or something, at least for a bit. My 2 cents.

Thanks for the input....you gals are the best. Gave it a lot of thought and decided to stay with Minx. I recognize so many names here and it's like having a little extended family/friend group. Seems like a silly thing to be pondering in the first place I suppose but I am glad I asked. Thanks and see ya all around!

I think Minx has a sexy ring to it. Glad you decided to keep it.
Besides, like Jadzia said, it would take some time to recognize who you were again.

Mine was spent running around getting parts for my computer, but it was still pretty good, spent time with my husband, drooled over components together, and then came home and took the girls outside to play tag in the water *smiles* Not how I would have chosen to spend it a week before, but it worked.

Minx... Chablis is very pretty... refined... but i adore Minx -- it's playful, yet serious, erotic, sensual... i picture a minx's movement when i see the name. Year's ago, on a different site, i used to go by "Willow's mynx" and so needless to say i'm partial to the name myself ;)

ANYWAY, i am relatively new to the TFP... but also recognize the name Minx and so my eyes do "pop up" so to speak when i recognize the name of the person posting... i think you made a good choice in keeping your current name...

It was given to me by someone special who said it reminded him of a mischevious, intelligent, playful, cute creature who would tear anyone apart when threatened. Yup....that's me in a nutshell! :D
