Tattoo designs and locations
The thread on clit piercing got me thinking: How many of you have tattoos, what are they (if you want to share the design), and where are they? I'm really interested in location. I've wanted to get a tattoo for years, but haven't for a few reasons. One is I can't decide on a spot. I love tattoos, but I think I'd only get one in a spot that I could cover up if needed, like when I have to get dressed up for something.

I have 5, one on each thigh, one on each shoulder and one around my wrist

Very nice! Thanks for sharing them. That's cool that you two got some together. I love tattoos on guys, but mine wouldn't ever take the plunge.

Awwww, I love your tattoos Shani!
I just have a chaos symbol on my lower back. I would like to add something around it to make it more feminine. Also, I have been thinking about orchids on my shoulders, with the stems entertwining down my spine. I just need a good artist and some extra money! :) |
Shani, I like the mistress tattoo, that's done very nicely. And scarglitter, the orchid idea sounds like it would be really great if it was done by a good artist. I'd like to see it if you ever get it done :)
As for me, I have no tattoos yet but by the end of this summer I might get some because I'll be in an area where I know of some decent tattoo artists. I'm very very picky about my tattoo artists which is mostly why I don't have any yet. I'm planning to get the brand from my family's ranch done probably on my arm or somewhere more visible because I'm proud of my heritage. I'll also probably get another one on either the side or the front of my abdomen which will be a phoenix symbolizing change and rebirth. Right now I haven't designed any of them since I think that a good tattoo artist can create something much better than what I can do. (edit) I have no intention of having a corporate job so I'm not too worried about visible tattoos. For those of you that have tattoos do you have to cover them up when you go to work or how do you handle that? |
I have my name in kanji in Japanese on my inner left ankle, right above the ankle bone. I have had it for awhile now. I am getting another one, something celestial on my other foot/ankle later this year. I am not worried about covering them up yet. I know I can cover them up if I need to if I go get different, 'straight' job.

I got my first only 3 years ago-it's on my left thigh and is about the size of my fist:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v349/ngdawg/tat-1.jpg The two roses are for my kids. In the spring, I'm planning on getting a second, on my right thigh-a crown with an entwined rose bathed with a sunray, for my parents(my maiden name is King). I'll be 'surrounded' by my family this way. |
I got my first in November 2005.
http://s61.photobucket.com/albums/h4...ick/Tattoo.jpg It's on my lower back, and it's a heart with the Virgo symbol in it, a rose and handcuffs. My next will be a pair of angel wings with a jasmine flower in the middle, and I'm deliberating having a rainbow in there somewhere. My parents are my guardian angels (angel wings), the smell of jasmine reminds me of home (my mom has a trellis outside the front door covered in jasmine, and when it's in bloom..... heavenly), and when I first moved out, my mom saw a rainbow as I was driving away, and knew that I would be okay. Whenever I see a rainbow, I think of her. That one would most likely be on the back of my left shoulder, and I don't want any black outlines on that one... I want it to be soft. |

I have three tattoos - unfortunately I don't have any pictures to post, otherwise I would. I have a tribal design on my lower back (i know, how cliche right?) that blends into a two halves of a heart that doesn't quite touch. I also have a small design on my hip - there's no better way to describe it other than to say that it looks a bit like an 'S' shape (though that wasn't my intention) with a small flower blooming off the middle. My third is the japanese (or kanji) symbol for 'live for today' and that is on my ankle.
I have a corporate job and don't have any problem hiding my tattoos. The ones on my back and hip are always hidden and when I wear skirts, nobody seems to mind the ankle tattoo (its fairly small and simply black - nothing outrageous). |
Artemystikal, did the back of the neck hurt more than normal? I've heard that one is by far one of the most painful to get, but I think that'd be a great place to put a tattoo.

I've got two paw prints (I chickened out before he started and didn't get all four). They're on my lower abdomen, just inside my right hip bone. They're a bit lower than I meant, but that's fine because I plan on having them 'finished' hopefully within the year.

Then again, I had the one on my back done first and all I had to go off of to gauge the pain was that it felt like a knife scraping down my spine. Compared to that, the neck and ankle were nothing. The only worse pain I've encountered than my back would be cramps and my nipple piercings. |
Do any of you ladies know if a scar can be tatooed "over".
I have two 3 inch long scars on each side of my right ankle from an operation to repair my ankle...and I'd like to get a tat on the scar that's on the outside of my leg. |
I don't see why it wouldn't be possible.
A friend of mine had a scar on her lower back, and hated it so much that she went and paid for scarification to make it a star. It was pretty cool looking, but I can't stand the thought of anyone digging into me with a hot scalpel |

I may be wrong though, just ask a professional that you trust and I'm sure they'll figure it out with you. |
This is my only one so far:
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y29.../mytattoo1.jpg I have plans for more, including a fairy, an ankh, and something for my dad who died a few years ago, but I'm not sure what that will be yet. Tattoos are addictive. |
i really want to get the word "ensemble", to signify the importance of my family and friends, as well as my french heritage, in who i am and where i go in life. i wanted to get blank squares of paper, and have my friends and family write a letter each with sharpies, and then put them together to form the word, since i will be moving away from home in the fall.
