What's your weather?

We just got dumped on with snow up here in Wisconsin just yesterday. I shoveled twice yesterday. Once in the morning to get up the ice from the ice storm Tuesday and once to get up about 6 inches of snow that had falled throughout the day. The temperatures this morning are currently at 7 F and the Real Feel is at 0 F. We get some extremely cold temperatures and rarely get very warm. Even 95 F in the middle of the summer is rare. I tend to get cold easier than some people but even hubby wears a jacket about 5-6 months out of the year. I myself will wear a jacket about 9 months out of the year. My winter coats consist of fur and wool since the thin polyester fiber fill coats aren't warm enough when it's at it's worst here. January is the hardest month for me as I get cabin fever. I work from home and taking the kids out in January is such a production for little reward.

So what's your weather like?? Tell us about anything unusual where you live.

Charlatan 11-17-2005 06:55 AM

Toronto is expecting wet flurries this afternoon and more flurries tonight. It is supposed to rain for the Santa Claus parade on Sunday.

We are right about where we usually are at this time of the year. The real cold doesn't set in for another month or so (mid-December to early January) and while I am sure we will get lots of flurries and even the occasional dump of snow, nothing will really stay around on the ground until the end of December or so.

Still riding my Vespa by the way...

Today
-1°C
Partly cloudy FEELS LIKE -7°C
WIND W 26 km/h
GUSTS 52 km/h

BigBen 11-17-2005 07:01 AM

-21 c yesterday

-2 c right now.

WTF?!?!?

sailor 11-17-2005 07:04 AM

Currently sitting at about 35 degrees. Should be getting our first snow any day now... They're calling for flurries on Sunday, we'll see if that happens.

tecoyah 11-17-2005 07:09 AM

Light snow...28 degrees

Icy roads

Dragonknight 11-17-2005 07:10 AM

Mid 40's on average, not sure if that's normal for here. From what everyone is saying it gets a lot colder. Any one been to Korea to know what the temp gets to in December?

Carno 11-17-2005 07:16 AM

Yesterday had a high of 81 F, but a cold front is passing through right now so it's a chilly 74 F here right now :p

I'm afraid I might actually have to wear pants tomorrow

Charlatan 11-17-2005 07:18 AM

I was in Seoul in December 2003 around the second week of December. There was snow and the temperature ranged between -5°C and 0°C.

I was told that it rarely goes below -10°C in Seoul and while they get snow, they don't tend to get as much as we get in Toronto.

I hate you so much right now.

Where you at, Carn?

P.S.: I have never got the whole Farenheit scale. It is half the Celcius scale plus 32...

No wait. Double the Celcius plus 32. nono.. Minus 32 and divide by half.

divide by half and subtract 32?

I do know that -40c = -40f.

maleficent 11-17-2005 08:34 AM

rain rain and more rain... i think the sun is finally coming out today...

I'm growing mold there's been so much rain...

it's making me crabbier than my normal crabby self there's so much rain...

makes for a really sucky walk home in the office when your sneakers are all sloshy and mean drivers splash thru puddles spraying me with road water (eww gross)...

least when i'm walking home in the rain.. i can hide that i'm crying cuz i'm tired of all this rain...

Ahahaha yes you do. I would tell you where I live, but I think I'll go for a swim in my pool right now

I live in Florida, USA. I don't know exactly what the whole conversion thing is from Fahrenheit to Celsius, but I understand both scales. It's actually quite retarded and I wish the US would use only Celsius, but whatever. In aviation they use only Celsius, but I grew up with Fahrenheit.

Sultana 11-17-2005 08:51 AM

Range today is 72F to 30F. I live in the desert, so it gets way cold at night (compared to the wamth during the day).

During the summer, it's not uncommon to hit over 110F (middle of the day, in the sun). That same night it could drop to 60F.

In Vegas this weekend it's supposed to range from high 60's to low 50's. I wish it was warmer, I'll not be wearing much...in the way of warm clothing. ;P I'm already packed, leaving straight from work, not much I can do about it now. Not that I want to wear a sweater, however light, to the casinos and clubs.

40 Deuce, here I come, baby!

I know - The US would be better off going to the metric scale and measurements. They are slowing integrating them in the medical profession but it will take some time. For now the most I know is that 32F is about 0 Celcius and 12 F is -12 Celcius. Anything more than that is too much for me to know. I grew up with the English system so metric is confusing for me though I try to pay more attention to it. I like my weight measured in Kilograms better than Pounds. The number is smaller. :p

At least it's not raining today. The satellite internet has been flaky these past few days.

Lucifer 11-17-2005 10:00 AM

Out here in St. John's it is overcast and a whopping 14c. Not rainy at the moment, but give it 5 minutes, I'm sure it'll change

CandleInTheDark 11-17-2005 10:27 AM

Clear skies and windy
approx. -15C
Got 30cm of snow a few days ago.

Beautiful!

jorgelito 11-17-2005 11:14 AM

Damn. Los Angeles here - 82 F - steady and sunny. My eyeballs and brains are falling out of my head oggling the minimally dressed hot chicks here on campus.

It's friggin' November! - 82 F? *sigh*

I'm drinking ice coffee instead of my normal cup o joe. This had been one long summer.

Ack!

Yeah, that Dump in Winnepeg made national news. To you yanks, that is a FOOT of snow in a couple of hours. Basically shut the city down for the day.

Brutal.

All of us Kanuckistani's are waiting for our turn.

Sounds like you have Toronto's weather from yesterday... get ready for some chill.

That's offensive! It's been low 30F to high 50F here. Nothing fatal but enough that I'm back to my daily trips to the wood pile. Oh, save me from the heating bill!

Aphrodite 11-17-2005 02:07 PM

Today is another beautiful day, after a couple of weeks of random weather. One day it'll be 34C, the next it will be freezing and pouring with rain... but today is a good day. I think I'll go shopping.

Giant Hamburger 11-17-2005 02:17 PM

Far above the 500-mile-thick cocoon of gases you call the atmosphere,
I float amongst the stars at a chilly -450° Fahrenheit.
Pants do nothing up hear.

snowy 11-17-2005 02:33 PM

It's 57 today...practically swimsuit weather! Bright, sunny, reasonably warm...

Time to cavort amongst the dead leaves and imagine it's spring instead of fall...

noodle 11-17-2005 02:51 PM

I am freezing my butt off. And its only 62. How am I going to make it this winter with no furnace?

/me shivers

I'd gladly trade with you. It never gets cold here! I wore shorts and a tee on my morning run today. I can't get to sleep before maybe 10:30, ever. I just had to take off my tie.

alleymary 11-17-2005 04:18 PM

Its like in the low 80's here and holding. But there is a cold front coming in and its suppose to be like 59 tonight.

sailor 11-18-2005 04:39 AM

Just got the first few flurries of snow... And now it's just raining and cold. Welcome to Germany :|

highthief 11-18-2005 05:50 AM

Currently about -2C in T.O. and fair skies.

A couple of hours away in Wiarton, they got 25cm (10 inches) yesterday.

Is it only -2C? It feels much colder than that... :(

meembo 11-18-2005 06:19 AM

November finally arrived in Connecticut yesterday. We had 60's and 70's Wednesday, 30 and 40's yesterday and today. I don't want a warm Thanksgiving! I'm ready for the snow! I used to live in Wisconsin many years a go, and I'm envious of raeanna a little bit.

Charlatan 11-18-2005 06:21 AM

Hey Cello... it's -4C currently in Toronto but with the wind chill it feels like -10C... it was a bit nippy on my ride in this morning. I think I am going to have to put my scooter away for the winter soon... :(

The long range forcast says there will be snow and lots of it next week.

Pip 11-18-2005 07:41 AM

It's about -2 °C here, since the sky was clear today. It has been gloomy and rainy for most of the week. Today saw some nice white frost for the first time this season. We've had this weird heat wave all through October and November, temperature's been a balmy 10 °C most of the time, so I still wear the light summer jacket with a knitted sweater under. It's hard to believe I live at 59 °N.

EDIT: The first snow of the season is falling right now! Yay!

Destrox 11-18-2005 07:57 AM

plenty of snow... blah and very cold.

I want my summer back!

Daoust 11-18-2005 08:58 AM

Up and out here on the Canadian East coast a few flurries are falling. It's a cool, overcast day, typical of weather this time of year. In the 4 - 5 degrees range, and that in celcius.

How do you make the little degrees symbol?

That's what the display on my car said in North York. But it was a little breezy so it does feel cooler.

RickB 11-18-2005 09:18 AM

Going to be 83F (28C) with a low of 55F (12C) tonight here in Los Angeles.

Now if we could just breathe.

fresnelly 11-18-2005 05:08 PM

We had our first snowfall, short as it was, and I must say I got a bit giddy.

I was humming this First Snow Of The Year by Hawksley Workman all day. Everyone grab yer toboggans!

Charlatan 11-18-2005 06:58 PM

My son and I had a snowball fight... first snow is always cool.

Random Hero 11-19-2005 12:31 PM

Here in CT it's the coldest it's been since fall started. I honestly wasn't expecting to scrape ice off my windshield this morning.

raeanna74 11-21-2005 12:48 PM

The snow we got last week is finally half melted today. My daughter was complaining that the snow was going away before we even got to have Christmas. Little does she know that this was just a taste of weather to come.

I hate the heating bills but I could never give up the wonder of a snow covered world upon waking in the morning after a big snow. Makes me feel like a child again every time.

That's cool. My daughter wanted to try it but our snow was too dry at the time.
