Forgotten Birthday
Yesterday, October 6 was my 19th birthday. Other than my parents and sister only one other person told me happy birthday the entire day - it was a girl who sits next to me in my biostats class. A girl I haven't said more than 5 things to since the first day of school. How she knew I'm unaware.
Now, I'm not a large fan of my birthday, it's just another day to me. I did, however, wait around all day for my girlfriend to at least make mention of my birthday, but she never did. After the fact that my birthday was over I asked her about it and she just blatantly said she forgot. Way to make me feel like someone special. |
Welp, happy belated birthday anyway. That girl in your class - she might be wanting you!
It's my B-Day tomorrow - I hope my wife remembers! |
Well happy birthday to you... my birthday has been forgotten more times than it's been remembered... so i've gotten to the point where they just don't matter anymore... (plus I'm too old for birthdaze anyhow.)
Nice to havea girl remember your birthday... way to go... |
Happy Bday man sorry your gf forgot but you will have plenty of Bdays and girlfriends im sure!!!!!!!
|
Quit feeling sorry for yourself. After you grow up birthdays just mean another day closer to death.
My friends don't remember mine, I don't remember theirs, hell I forgot my mothers last month. I'm lucky if I remember my wifes. |
Yeah, to be honest I don't care whether or not people remember my birthday. It's just another day far as i'm concerned. Sort of like new years. Who cares if it's a new year? I certainly don't.
However, I certainly understand where you're coming from. A bunch of my female friends bitch about how no one remember's their b-day (ironically, one of these girls didn't remember mine, but that's beside the point), and to some people it's important. So have a happy belated birthday! |
I think it is essential that your SO remember your birthday, and I know it would have made me really feel like shit if mine didn't.
|
Man, bummer. Happy Birthday though.
You should totally ask how your classmate knew. And you should forget your girlfriends birthday, until the last minute, then suddenly remember and do something sweet for her. |

Before the advent of facebook (it's been cheapened now) -- remembering my birthday was a very important thing to me. If nothing else, its one day out of the year that someone can say "yea.. I remember you..." :(
Happy Birthday, and I'm sorry that the ladyfriend forgot to remember.. |

However, I'm not really sure why people do what you described above - it certainly doesn't make you feel any better. Granted, it would have been nice to have your girlfriend remember, but she's human, and forgot. If it bothered you so much that she didn't wish you a happy birthday, why didn't you gently remind her what day it was? I often wonder about this situation - I have seen it on several occasions between someone and the SO - birthdays sometimes, but especially anniversaries. It seems almost like one is trying to "test" the other - and if your relationship is based one person remembering a trivial date, you may want to move on.... |
Happy belated birthday.
People treat birthdays very differently. I blow off my own, I'd prefer that everyone else does, as well. I hate being the center of attention and celebrating my birthday just plays into that. On the other hand, my wife's birthday is just short of a national holiday. Coming home with lipstick on my collar would be easier to explain than forgetting her birthday. You've got to let the people in your life know what you prefer. |
To me- birthdays are your own private holiday, I mean, you have to share every other holiday with everyone else right? Nope... not your birthday, it's just yours!
If you're in my world, and someone I love, then your birthday is a mini-Christmas. IMHO, that's how it should be. |
Happy belated, Arauckhorst. While birthdays are 'like any other day', acknowledgement from the people in your life is certainly a brightener. Today is mine-no celebration per se, just hanging out at home enjoying the day. Birthday parties are for kids ;) Just send me cash :D
