Hotwire.com - legit?

Has anyone ever used hotwire.com to book hotels? is it legit?

I used it to book a hotel in Cleveland about a year ago. When I got there, the room was reserved and the price I would have paid at the front desk would have been much higher. So, yes, it's legit.

I've never used it for hotels, but I've bought airline tickets through them. I've never had a problem with them.

I've used them for a hotel once.. not sure if they still follow this practice, but I used it to book a hotel in chicago... the price I got was great... but I didnt know what hotel it was until I pushed process.. I got to pick number of stars and approximate location. I was there on business, and the hotel I was at, wasnt really close to where I wanted to be... it was at the far end of the area it said it was.

I would not have stayed at the hotel I ended up at had it not been for Hotwire, it wasn't bad, but the location and amenities were not what I had hoped. I wouldnot have given it the 3 stars hotwire said it had.

I might use hotwire again for a vacation, where it doesnt really matter where I am staying, but for using it for business -- nope... I much prefer sites like Hotels.com... where I know what I am getting (and most of the major chains will beat the advertised rate if you go to them directly.

i took a trip a couple weeks ago and booked my flight, hotel, and rental car with hotwire. pretty easy and painless and i got a 3-star hotel by the airport for only $35/night.

I have used hotwire and it is excellent. The trick is to only use it for big cities where the area where your hotel can be in are relativley small. Chicago, for example, has so many hotels that you can be sure where your hotel is gong to be within a block or two. not true in a bunch of other places.
