What's the Cleanest Room in Your House?
I have been super busy these past few weeks, so my cleaning has taken a back burner to other stuff. However, I noticed that I always took the time to keep the kitchen looking decent - wiping the coutners/stove, keeping the dishes in rotation through the dishwasher, keeping the floor sweapt. There's crap over every avaliable surface in the rest of the house, but the kitchen is tidy!
So what room do you keep cean/neat/tidy/short of a disaster area in your house? |
I'm pretty much in the same boat. I've been busy and distracted :D , so the timing and relevance is pretty cool!
The kitchen, bathroom & toilet are places I tend to keep clean. I don't mind if the rest of the house is untidy, as long as it's a clean mess. Can't handle the bio-hazard type situations. |
If I have to let something go, it's the bedroom.
The kitchen must be kept neat, clean, and antiseptic at all times, and the master and guest bathrooms also. However, we're all pretty neat, so maintenance cleaning about an hour a day along with one thorough cleaning Saturday morning is all that's really necessary. We obviously have no kids. |
Our toilet is actually the cleanest room in the house. It's surprisingly clean.
The benches tend to get a bit filthy in the kitchen (we use breadboards to cut everything up on but crumbs and stuff from toast move about it), but there's never piles of dishes, they're done every day. |
Same, bedrooms and stuff tend to be ok if you let them get some fresh air, but when it comes to breeding-grounds for food and other bacteria I'm not risking something mutating in the kitchen or bathroom.
|
kitchens good then floors (got a puppy who loves killing stuffed toys) then bathroom, toilet main bedroom and last spare bedrooms. Laundry doesnt really get dirty, just a wipe needed every 2nd day or so
|
The kitchen is the room I worry about the most. I think I clean it every day. Although I let it go this weekend, and now today I will have to do it for a bit longer. The living room has kids toys in it, but every night I make sure they are at least off to the side.

My house is in a constant state of upheaval but I too try to keep the kitchen tidy... It is the one room that is in constant use that can't afford to be chaotic or dirty. I leave the bathroom cleaning to my wife...
I hate cleaning the bathroom... she hates cleaning the kitchen. It's just another reason we work so well together. |
I'm supposed to clean rooms?????
Guess the livingroom since it's not used much. The rest of the house would fail any inspection given. Living in an old house has disadvantages when it comes to keeping things put up and away. Also, some germs have benefits, right?(that's what I tell myself to get out of, once again, cleaning) |
It sort of depends - there are times when I have to have my bedroom clean or I just can't sleep, but usually the "public areas" - the kitchen-dining-living room (it's all pretty open) are the ones I keep most presentable. Until we had to clean it out to make it ready to sell, the office was our "pit" room. It seemed to attract rubbish and nick nacks and random papers we didn't know what to do with, and they'd just get stacked into neat little piles and then disheveled again and stacked again and added to .... chaos.
|
the living/dining space is the cleanest...just in case someone drops by
|
Hmmm... the bathroom is usually the cleanest. Pulling a close second would be the kitchen.
The kitchen would probably be the cleanest but people always come over and trash the place. I'm the only one who cleans, so I can't keep it clean all the time. |
bedroom stays the cleanest - picking up clothes and making the bed isn't that time consuming. We dont' spend much time in there except to sleep.
The diningroom gets a second place since I clean off table after dinner and the kids don't play there so it doesn't need much maintance except for dusting and vacuuming. The kitchen gets the most attention, cleaning it and constantly doing dishes. |
My apt is always a mess, but we have been trying the last week or so to change that. Since most of the time is spent in the living room, that has been getting the most cleaning.
|
The cleanest room is where I am the least. Me and the boys keep things busy that way
|
the rooms furthest away from the door are the neatest. as i walk in the door after work i just drop things off along the way, so by the time i get all the way upstairs to the back bedroom, i don't have anything left to clutter it up with.
|
I'd say my brother's room is the cleanest room. He's never there long enough to get it dirty. :P
|
None of them, they're all dirty by my standards, the worst by far would be my step-sisters but none can be considered cleanest.
|
Were I living in different (preferable) circumstances, the kitchen and bathrooms would be kept super-clean.
However, my roommates are all pigs and cannot understand why the kitchen should be kept clean or why certain dishes should be washed by hand and not put in the dishwasher (i.e. dishes that are used frequently like pots and pans). They also cannot comprehend why knives should be put aside on the kitchen counter and NOT put in the sink. To keep myself from stressing out about the whole situation I mostly avoid the kitchen unless I have to use it for some reason...and I typically clean it from top to bottom for my own benefit before beginning to cook (I've worked in food service too long to be able to cook in a dirty kitchen...eww). I can't wait to move out and get away from my roommates. |
Due to me, the kitchen. Any other room in the house I don't care about, but the kitchen's going to stay spotless.
The spare bedroom upstairs'd be second on the list if my sister hadn't ended up spending the night... Punk. |
eh, tough to say ... everything's about equal in our apartment.
working surfaces/areas/floors are cleaned quite regularly ... areas where we lack proper storage, on the other hand, are dust-magnets. I like to think of myself as a clean freak ... but now i'm not so sure ... I can think of areas for improvement, defintely. |
I have to agree with that...places I work I usually clean, and I usually end up in a pattern where I don't go certain places for months at a time (until I need something).
|
According to most studies .. the bathroom is the cleanest room in the house. In my house, this is a tough call - it would probably be the entrance way.
|
Bathroom... Always the cleanest. Kitchen and living room are next, but right now everything but the bathroom looks like a sty.
|
I've stopped caring completely, I will pick up after myself but that is about it. One of my roommates is such a slob I just don't bother anymore, it's not worth the time to hound him to clean up his shit.
|
Probably the living. My mom keeps her nasty messy bird in the kitchen, my sister loves to throw her clothes everywhere in my room and the bathroom...and everywhere else is where my mom stores her junk.
|
For me it's probably the kitchen. I don't cook, so normally there's hardly any dishes in the sink :) My bathroom comes in at close second. I hate having a dirty bathroom.
|
Clean rooms... very funny idea. Well, when I am actually disciplined (not this year), I like to keep the kitchen table clean. Basically any "table" surfaces... not rooms in general, though. Right now the only table I have is a coffee table in my pseudo-living room, so I try to keep it clear. I just like having surfaces clean, it makes me think I am somewhat sane. :)
|
Well, before my son became "potty trained", the bathroom was definitely the cleanest. I hate messy bathrooms. Our kitchen is probably cleanest after that. Our living room and bedrooms are always messy because there are toys/blankets from my son all over the place, although I do try to pick that stuff up after he goes to bed. Plus, our birds are in the living room and unless I vacuum several times a day, the area around their cage gets messy.
|
I live by myself in a 2 bedroom apartment, and I'm a guy, so this may sound a little odd. the cleanest room is my bathroom. I can't stand having a messy or dirty bathroom, so i keep that clean constantly.
The dirtiest room would be my office (the second bedroom of the apartment), I just let that place go since I drink in there, smoke in there and just let it go to shambles. |
I'm a neat freak, so my whole house is usually tidy but if i had to pick one room, Kitchen, i cook all our meals daily, so i like it to be neat and clean. That and . . . i also like to clean . . . i'm a freak i know :)
Sweetpea |
it's ok sweetpea, I like to clean too :) I just haven't had the time lately, but as my journal states, I finally have some time now! I actually scrubbed the kitchen from top to bottom today, expecting the inside of the fridige. It looks SOOOOO good, it's inspiring me to tackle the rest of the apartment tommorow!
Cleaning is very tiring! |
I'm a total slob usually, but when I clean, I'm obsessive about it. I think I know that if I start cleaning it's going to be a long day, so I try to ignore the mess. My friends don't think the house is messy though, so I guess I'm sort of self-critical. It drives me nuts to have a dirty bathroom and if the kitchen isn't picked up, I won't want to cook...so I try to keep it tidy.
Still, the place seems pretty sloppy to me. Organized, but sloppy. |
I'm pretty much a neat freak but as of lately, I've been busy with finals and work that I just haven't had the time to clean, my place isn't really dirty but isn't as clean as I would like to be. I love it when my bathroom is clean, I always clean the tub since I take frequent bubble baths, the floor is always shiny and it always smells great in there. But sorry to say that right now it isn't the bathroom I would like it to be.
|
I adore vacuuming and dusting, so the living room is always clean. I detest being in the kitchen...
|
The kitchen. I like to keep it very clean.
|
Every room. My Mom cleans waaaaaaaaaay too much, I'll vacuum one day, the next day she'll do it again, even if it doesn't need it. My room is probably the messiest, but its still super clean.
|
The cleanest room in the house is probably the bathroom.
The unfinished side of the basement is filthy, but my room comes in second. |

The cleanest room is decidedly mine. Simply because I keep the other three pigs that I live with out of there.
