So, what have you lost before? I am a very mindful person about my possessions and I think the only things I've ever lost have been things that were taken from me... like my Save Ferris CD... where the hell did that go? I'm very certain that I don't lose anything because... well... I'm such a packrat, I could open up a computer store with all the product I have lying around.

I actually left my keys in the door the other night, so that freaks me out...

Ohh.. wait.. actually, one time in like 5th or 6th grade, I lost my retainer. I had it on my lunch tray and I threw it out. The janitor had to sift through bags and bags of trash just to find it. I keep imagining Groundskeeper Willy waist deep in trash, cursing all of the damn kids and their dental appliances.

More clothes than anything else, jackets, jumpers and shoes - all most proberly living in a community far far away with the sock you loose in washing machines.

NYC Taxi cabs have reminder messages to take your belongings, done by celebrities. One of those celebrities was Yo Yo Ma, who left a several million dollar Stradivarius Cello in the trunk of a cab, and if memory serves, used the receipt to track down the cab and recover it.

I've had more stuff stolen than lost, generally by doing something stupid (had a cell phone stolen falling asleep on the train, had a comforter stolen by leaving the laundry room unattended, a watch stolen by having it a the pool area in a hotel. Lost items: socks, single gloves. I couldn't imagine leaving a laptop in cab, I always check the seat when I get out of a cab to make sure I haven't left anything.

I lost my friend in a taxi once, granted we were both slightly drunk and he was alseep on the floor, but we got him back in the end :)

I haven't lost too many things. I left my wallet on the table in a crowded bar once, took off and realized it about 10 minutes later driving home. Went back and was amazed it was still there and still full of cash.

I'm convinced that there is a special place where socks must go. I must have a dozen singles and we do our laundry at home.

I have had two laptops stole (one from my house and one from my car) but never misplaced on... I rarely lose things as I am too paranoid of losing them...

There was one time that I lost my keys. I was sitting at my desk and they fell off the front of my desk to the floor. I was on the phone at the time so I just made a mental note to pick them up later. After a bit I walked to the other side of my desk and they were gone... I looked everywhere and could not find them. I am convinced they fell into a wormhole.

When I was 7 I had a favorite Hot Wheels car; a little yellow McLauren. It was the coolest Hot Wheels car in the world. One day, I was playing with it in my bedroom and it rolled underneath my dresser. I crawled over to get it out, but it wasn't there. I got a flashlight and looked, I moved the dresser, etc., but the McLauren disappeared. For the next several years, I'd find myself crawling around occasionally still looking for that damned McLauren.

When my family moved out of that house five years later, I stood and watched them move the dresser just in case that car was somehow still back there; it wasn't.

I don't suppose losing my mind counts. I constantly lose stuff in my house. I know it's in the house, but I just can't find it. DVDs, shoes, motorcycle helmet, ID for work, I know they made it home; but I have no clue where they went.
Fortunately, I'm married, so I blame my wife.

I used to lose things all the time. My wallet and keys were never where they were supposed to be. I've had countless clothes, dvds, cds and such left at houses or just taken. I'm alot better about it now. I don't think I've actually lost anything in quite a while. /me knocks on wood.

I can beat all these stories. After a Hawaii trip, I was (totally sober!) checked into the plane, buckled into my seat while the flight attendants were doing their safety routine.

Suddenly I panicked, remembering I left my rental car parked out at the terminal, with the trunk open and the motor running ! ! ! ! ! !

I had to run out of the plane (thankfully they let me do that). I'm sure everybody thought I was nuts. The car was till there, motor still running, no ticket. I managed to get on the next flight.

I have lost my wallet, house keys, shoes, and my jacket. Thankfully not all at once.

I don't think I've ever lost anything important, but there are several cds and movies that I out of the blue can't find. I probably borrowed them to somebody, and they forgot to give them back.
I think it all works out in the end though, because I also have several cds and movies I can't remember buying, and I can't remember who I borrowed them from.

I'm pretty mindful of my more valuable possessions, if the price tag was three digits, it's not leaving my hands in public. I have a bad habit of losing small stuff, only to find it after I replace it though. I lost my bus pass early in November, I didn't bother replacing it that month, I just used cash when I rode the bus and waited for December to get a fresh one. Sure enough, I found my old bus pass wedged in the cushions of the couch on December 3rd.
I owned two toques three weeks ago, they both went missing one after the other, so I bought a new one and then found one of them in a corner hidden under some junk that same night.

i never "lose" but constantly misplace. i can never find my glasses, my debit card, my keys, my checkbook. sometimes silverware will end up in the refrigerator, or bell peppers in the drawer.. it just seems that i can be very absent-minded when there's something important that i am distracted by.

I lost a radiohead CD for a few years. I was salvaging some parts from an old dusty computer and opened up the CD drive and there it was, Radiohead's Amnesiac, covered in dust but without a scratch.

I also lost my favorite cap gun when I was about ten. I think I left it in a pile of dirt (in a construction site) but my brother was convinced some other kids stole it and he beat them up a bit.

And I don't know if this is lost or stolen, but when I was seventeen a friend and I asked some older guys to buy us some beer, so they did as long as we shared some of it. We said sure, then we had to go into the MCG (stadium) to watch the cricket, and these guys said they'd get us pass-outs so we could get in. So they took my jacket and wrapped up their share of the beer in it, went into the stadium and we never saw them again. So we lost my jacket and half a case of beer. Very expensive mistake, that was.

I have had some stuff stolen from me, I think the most valuable was Wayne Gretzky's rookie card along time ago.

I'm famous for change falling out of my pockets, everybody knows it too. I go to somebody's house and after i leave they scoop it up from under the cushion of the couch lol

Heres an example. My car has bucket seats, so whenever i get in my car i usually always lose some change that falls under my seat onto the floor..I let it build up for awhile, I cleaned my car out one day and counted 45 dollars in just toonies & loonies.

I can't say that i have ever left anything of value like a laptop or cellphone behind.

I'm famous for misplacing things around the house like..Bank Card, Car Keys etc.

Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most.

But seriously folks...

I'm famous for leaving jackets behind. I've lost at least two jackets by leaving them in the overhead bins on planes. I left a jacket in the compartment of a train in Italy. I left one on a coatrack at a museum--you'd think their lost and found would have it, but no.

These have all been canvas "barn jacket" type jackets. So my solution was to buy a really nice, expensive leather jacket that, if I lose, I'll be actually upset about. It's worked so far!

When I was 18 my hubby (then boyfriend) bought me a couple newts and a cute little lagoon terrarium for them to live in. One night I came home from class to find the lid on but the newts gone. We searched for hours upstairs and down for the little critters but never found them.

Three years later. Hubby and my dad were in the basement working on the furnace and yelled for me to come down. Yup, there in a chute were my little newts...."pet"rified. ;)

I have lost many pairs of pants and a few shirts.

This makes my girlfriend very suspicious.

Sockets, nuts, bolts, and my temper, all right behind a frame joint or valve cover or other place no human limb can reach. I believe mini-Yoda lives back in those crannies and "forces" things to fall into them.

My youthful enthusiasm and my sanity.

Socks, shoes, jackets, money, wallet (though it was returned, something about a big-ass hole in me back pocket) keys, entire belief system, you know, the usual.

When I was a teenager I lost my purse once. Didn't have a drivers lisence, checkbook, or anything like that yet. I think I only had like $10 in the purse. It was out of state when I lost it. I did have some identification in it thankfully. Someone found it, took out $2 and mailed it to me in a package. I didn't mind they took the money - guessing they used it to mail it.

I also lost an Onyx ring. I left it on the fooseball table at college. When I remembered it and went back the next day. It was lost - GONE.

I lost silverware and mittens when I was in elementary school. I was always loosing papers and things.

Now - most I loose are papers, notes, toys(course that's not me so much as the kids), and pens.

I have "lost" a lot of things since we moved. I know they're here because they're not at the old apartment but I have many unpacked boxes still for things to hide in. Eventually I should be able to find them all but I will have to wait till cooler weather before I feel like tackling the boxes in the garage.

I misplace things all the time, but rarely lose anything. Right now I'm waiting for my new dayplanner to turn up. I found it in a discount bin at a great price, and it just slipped out of sight for a while. But it will reappear.

When I was about 6, my mother took my brothers and me to Silver Springs in Florida. As I was boarding the glass bottom boat, one of my flip flops slipped off and fell into the water. So, everyone on the boat had to wait while this guy with a fishing pole successfully hooked my shoe and fished it out of the water.

My Civilization 2 disc. And I want to play SOOOOOOO BADLY. :(

I don't normally lose things that I deem important, since it's horribly wasteful to do so.

I lose everything that can be held in my hand at one point or another. I lost a complete set of keys with a watch that was given to me by a dear friend-a PTCruiser watchfob that didn't even work anymore, but I still cherished it. The keys also had my classroom passkey for the school I worked in, so they weren't real thrilled. I went to all the stores in the shopping center I was pretty sure I lost them at, but no dice. I think someone found them and just took them for the watch. :( I never did tell him I lost it.

I lost (or had it stolen, which I suspect) an emerald ring that my parents gave me when I graduated high school; that was pretty upsetting.

I left my purse (with credit cards, passport, hotel keys, and ID) in a taxi in Mexico. Thank god the driver and the employees at my hotel were honest; I got it back with everything intact.

I managed to lose half of our plates when we moved into our new apartment; I still have no idea where they are.

the only thing i ever lost was my gorgeous figure. Goddamn kids!

I've lost over $500 dollars in CD's ($300 in one installment, $200 in the other), some yo-yo's when I was a kid, Magic cards, and all of my textbooks last semester (luckily they were found) just to name a few. I'm a very forgetful person.

Lighters..I haven't met anybody who smokes that can keep the same lighter for more than a couple weeks, Im the same way unless i'm using my zippo..which i don't use very often because i can't seem to find another like it anywhere.

I was so sick of losing my woolen hats, that I bought 3 versions of the same one.

For years, I lost the switch in my head that reminded me to look and check if i'd left anything on the seat where i was sitting. Lost so many sets of keys this way. Thank God i didn't have a cellphone back than.

Of all the things I've lost I miss my mind the most.

I haven't lost anything in awhile thank god, I keep track of where things are, cause I hate losing stuff.
I remember losing my gold earring when I was out at a skating practice one summer day. I noticed it was missing while skating, and spent the next hour searching the entire arena for it...never found it. :( I plan on replicating the other so I can wear it again.
I also lost my favourite navy blue hoodie once. I dont even know where it went, just one day, when I wanted to wear it, I looked in my closet, and it wasn't there! :(
The most recent time I lost something was my keys. I was taking the school bus home, was wearing sweatpants with baggy pockets, so Im guessing they slipped out of my pocket and onto this other girls's backpack. haha...she gave them back the next day. :) Haven't lost my keys since. ;)

My virginity. Damn.. I was saving it for marriage. Oh well, some lucky girl must have it tucked in a drawer somewhere.

There is really only one thing that I have ever lost and that is my lucky baseball hat. I had a quicksilver hat that was black with silver writing that said "GO" in big letters on the front, and "Eddie Would" on the back.

The story on the hat was that I got it from a shop in Hawaii. The store owner told me about a young surfer named Eddie that was on the island. He said that he was the best surfer ever. One day after a competition he was celebrating with friends on the beach when they heard yells coming from the water. Eddie swam out there with his board and gave it to the person who was drowning. The person was able to get back to the shore but Eddie got hit by a wave and drowned. So the saying of "GO, Eddie would" had a strong message to me, that you should help others.

I lost the hat and have never found another, maybe one day I will find one on eBay.

When I was 12 my parents gave me an engraved silver pen & pencil set for Christmas. I lost the pencil at school shortly thereafter & was sick to my stomach for days over it. About four years later, a schoolmate hands me the pencil back and said, "hey, I found this downtown on the sidewalk." (We lived in a fairly small town).
This was years later. And being that she was not the brightest girl I have ever know, I think she stole it, and then realized with my name on it, she could never use it in school anyway (and she wasn't one for homework, if you know what I mean). I don't know why she hung on to it for so long before returning it, but I was glad to have it back.

Couldn't you contact the shop in Hawaii and have them send you another one?

I've lost so many things that their stories, and the tale of how they departed, could fill a book. However there is one incident that comes to mind:

I bought a new pair of earrings one day, and I was all excited about them because they were just what I was looking for. I wore them that night when I went out to dinner with my boyfriend. After we ate I went to use the restroom, and just as I stood up and flushed, one of them slipped out of my ear and fell into the toilet! In dismay I watched it get sucked down with the swirling water - there was nothing I could do about it and it was gone. Damn. :mad:

I lose tons of socks and underwear. Lost one girlfriend. I also lost all the items off of one of my online video games when someone got access to my account. I lost my eligiblility for National Honors Society in high school when i had some bogus honor council issues at school. probably more stuff that wasnt worth keeping track of

Clothes, toys, money, lots of socks and undies. Every time I do laundry, a sock I lost a sock. WTF is up with that? Lot's of tennis balls, a tennis racquet. Some basketballs, more socks and money. Socks, and uhhh..more socks.
Oh, and on the flight home from Vietnam, I lost a fan I was supposed to give to my girlfriend. Spent a good deal of waiting for the next flight in the Seoul airport asking the stewardess to look and retrieve it for me. Worry my ass off about it. But alas, it's gone. I still grief over it....:( It's such a nice fan...

I left my favorite jacket in the airport in ottowa canada after I fought in the North American Championships for the ITF- I called the airport and they shipped it back for free- so we should all apreciate our gentle neighbors to the north, and not blame canada- quebec however.......

Ballpoint pens...

All my ballpoint pens will, at sometime or another, slip through a wormhole to a planet that is entirely given over to ballpoint life forms, where they enjoy a uniquely ballpointoid life-style, respond to highly ballpoint-oriented stimuli, and generally lead the ballpoint equivalent of the good life.

Now, seriously, I am always losing my pens and mechanical pencils, and I have no idea where they go.

That's what I'm talking about. Where the hell do all the lone socks go?

Personally, my worst story is the time I spent panicking about findng my glasses for about 15 minutes. Turned out they were on my face the whole time.

I lost a wallet, and then found it seven months later, exactly where I had left it: under a computer tower in the chemistry lab at school. I think it's funny that in an entire school year, I was the only other person who stuck my hand under there while working on the computer.

I'm down one (possibly two, depending on whether the replacement shows up when I clean my room) class rings from high school.

So far i have gone through 15 debit cards. Yea im a idiot but they dont charge me to replace them. Actually the ATM has eaten 2 of them so i guess thats not my fault.

As of 4 hours ago, I've lost my cellphone, and therefore my connection to the rest of the world. I've fallen off the face of the earth.

Believe it or not, the one thing I've lost that really bothers me is a pair of pants. About 8-9 years ago I bought a really nice pair of dress slacks that fit great and they where even lined. I only wore them when I was really trying to look good. One day about 2-3 years later I went to put them on and could not find them. I guess I took them to the cleaners and forgot about it. It still bothers me to this day that I have no idea where they ended up. I don't recall coming home naked anytime. Oh well, it is not as if they would fit now anyway.

A couple years ago I decided to buy a digital camera. I spent hours researching cameras in my price range and finally decided on a Canon PowerShot A70 ($320 at the time). I bought it, and a week later, I lost it.

I searched for it all over my house (last place I remember having it) with no luck. I ended up buying another one.

I also remember buying a shirt like 10 years ago and before I could even wear it, I lost it. A couple years later, I was looking at some pictures that my relatives in France sent us and I saw my cousin wearing the shirt that "i lost."

Many years ago I lost the key to the nice old writing desk I got from grandpa. Luckily, only one of the cabinets were locked at that moment, a shallow thing that I had no idea what it was for anyway. A few years ago it struck me - it's the perfect size for a mini-bar. Drats. Someday, I'll try to remake that key, it wasn't that complex.

I have an attention problem. Usually when I am loosing things it is because I am trying to think of too many other things. Trips are a bad time for me because I am trying to keep track of gates, flights, times etc. I once left my luggage in the trunk of the car that dropped me off at the airport. Fortunately they got hung in traffic and I got it before the flight.

When I came to Europe to join a band for the summer (1983) I decided to stay.
I sent a postcard to two friends saying "deal with my stuff". They threw all of it on the street except the records and tapes that they wanted.

I lost everything. Birth certificate, everything I had built myself, all my tools. Everything.

The first time I got to go to the Salt River (Arizona, US), just last Spring, we took my car and another vehicle. I gave Andy (boyfriend) my car keys and watched him tie them in the drawstring of his shorts with a double knot.

While we were going along things were fine (water was pretty cold) but it was relaxing and fun...then some of us (not me) started splashing and flipping other people in our group off of their air tubes into the cold water (I was a victim of this) and after a few minutes I noticed that Andy didn't have my keys tied. I asked him where they were...spent 60-90 minutes in ice cold water (fighting the current) looking for them - my car keys are at the bottom of some part of the Salt River. LOL!

Hmm, at least it's not my car that's at the bottom of the river, right? :D

I lost a grey jumper once.
I accidentally left it 3000 feet up a hill in france when i was about 10. I loved that jumper. It was really baggy and had a B52 bomber on it.
I've not thought about that jumper for years.

I don't know that things are lost until I find them. That's good, I suppose, because I never worry about them -- I'm just glad to see them again.

I used to lose my baseball glove all the time when I was a little guy. All the time, after every game and practice. I don't know what the hell my problem was.

I've also lost shirts, wallets, books, games, etc... And I've misplaced countless things only to find too late.

I lost my house keys when I was 8 or 9, I think it happened as a result of letting my teacher use my ultra cool pen keychain. Anyway, my parents made me feel pretty awful/guilty about losing the keys and had to rush to change the locks....just incase.

Well, there was this one time I lost my virginity... I never did get that sucker back. :lol:

All joking aside, I've lost countless items, but the funniest is the shin guard from my friend's suit of armor, which he let me borrow for a high school play. All the pieces were numbered and I had this sheet I used to make sure all the pieces were there (yes, I am that anal.) I checked everything off and it was all there in my car before I left to go return it to him. When I got there, no shin guard. Piece #111 and it was a bitch to replace.

I just lost like a 20-pack of garbage bags. They were those new force flex ones. I swear that I bought them at Target like 2 weeks ago, and today I needed a garbage bag, and they are nowhere to be found...

When I was 17, I lost two gold rings when I left them in a hotel room. One of them was my grandmother's. I still feel guilty.

I lost my first bomber jacket when I left it in the back seat of my first car when some bitch I was seeing at the time decided to take my car for a joy ride when I stopped to get us something to drink. Never saw it again.

God I hate her.

I had an old Detroit Tigers cloth cap. I wore it everywhere, all the time. I fall asleep one day at the uni library and it is gone. I must have been quite tired for someone taking it off my head while sleeping.

I lost my teddy bear when I was a child, it is the only memory that comes to mind but I still remeber it.

Apologies for the bump, but last week I lost the Zippo lighter I've had for almost eight years, given to me by my best friend before I moved to another country. That lighter went everywhere with me, to many parties, many repairs, and it got lost and found plenty of times before. But now it's gone, I was messing around in the snow and it must have fallen out of my pocket and I don't think I'll ever see it again. I'm sad :(

When my wife went into labor we brough an older camera I had and a digital camera that we had recently received as a gift. After the birth and her moving to a different room at the hospital, we discovered that our older camera was missing. Fortunately most of the pictures of my newborn son were on the digital camera, but the hospital never owned up to reinbursing us for our loss. Though I still feel someone stole it, it had to be someone on the staff. Oh I was so mad.

After playing 1-on-1 soccer in a field on a date (yeah... I'm just that big of a dork.), about an hour after I've dropped the girl back off and I've already driven myself home, I realized that I didn't have my pocket knife on me. I realized I must've dropped it when I was running around out there.

I've had this knife since freshman year. I've warded off a few would be attackers with this thing. It's cheap, starting to dull again, and oh, did I mention that it's raining like hell outside now. But being the sucker that I am for holding on to things, I go out looking for the bastard...

I get there, and realize that this field has an area of roughly half a mile... the knife on the other hand has an area of about 3 inches closed. Realizing I'm screwed, I go on looking anyway. Roughly half an hour later, soaked and cold, batteries dying in my big ass 3.5 million candlepower flashlight, I spot an area of depressed grass. Hoping that this won't be the 17th time that I've gotten excited only to find a piece of dog crap, I walk over and there's my knife.

Slightly giddy from acting so ridiculous and from having finally found the son of a bitch, I get in my car and drive home. On the way home I decide to pick up some stuff. (groceries, gas, etc.) I get home, unload my stuff, and, exhausted, start undressing for bed.

The knife wasn't in my pocket, any of them. The next morning when I checked, it wasn't in the car... It was gone again.

If I ever find that damn thing I'm gonna purposely dull it against a rough rock for causing me such frustration.

I've just spent half an hour searching for my favourite plectrum. I'm not touching my guitar or mandolin until that thing shows up. I love that plectrum.

I lost my U2 Achtung Baby t-shirt that I got at Goodwill for $1.20. Needless to say I was very very sad for a long time.

I also seem to have misplaced my copy of Muse's Absolution. Thank God all of the songs are ripped on to my computer.

MY GOD that happens to me a lot. Things that just disappear. For instance, i store my footwear under my bed, and at the end of the summer i puy my flip flops under there for safe but dusty storage. Come next may, ONE of them was gone. I don't own a dog or anything like that, so one of them must have spontaneously left this universe for a parallel dimension or something.

That is the biggest item taht has completely vanished, but there are other items too, usually something that i drop under something much as you did. Upon inspection ITS COMPLETELY GONE FROM SPACETIME!

I lost one of the rubber ear cushions for my Sony Fontopia earbuds a few weeks ago. I had to order a replacement for Sony, and it came out to $9 USD. A new pair of phones would be $25 and free shipping from Amazon, and would come with 4 cushions, two of them being more suitable to me. I should've just gotten the new phones.

The most memorable loss that I've had was a pouch with $80 dollars, a camera, and over 10,000 play tickets in Circus Circus. As a 10 year-old, this was a crushing blow.

I've also lost hats, jackets/shirts, glasses, retainers, binders. Over the years I've noticed that if I carry something in my hand, that cannot go into my pockets, chances are that I will lose it.

Don't lose a whole lot of things, just a few CD's here and there sometimes get lost for a while but I'll find them in a big pile or something. :p The biggest thing that I've lost was a necklace of St. Vincent given to me by my grandmother before she died.

somewhere in this world is a white VS ballerena necked, long flared sleeved shirt that belongs to me... like, it's one of those things that I know I had it at some point but don't remember the last time I saw it and don't have a clue where it might be. I miss that shirt.

I do have some stuff that people have borrowed... but I know who has that stuff, tho i'm probably not gonna get it back!!
