Anyone here listen to Loveline?

Hi...does anyone here listen to Loveline with Adam Corola and Dr. Drew? I do and it's a great show...if you don't have it on your radio then listen to it at www.91x.com

- Undercover_Man

EDIT: They sometimes start late...don't worry...just hang in there and they'll play it...it's been known to be 12-15 minutes late sometimes...don't know why tho...

cardfrek 10-14-2004 10:37 PM

Loveline the phone call in radio show that helps people with their problems? I haven't listened to it in years. I remember when it was first started on KROQ 106.7 FM by Jim "poorman" Trenton in Los Angeles, he helped find Dr Drew to provide a more serious side to the show. Then he got fired and they replaced him with Riki Rachtman for a while. Then there were a few other temp hosts, till they eventually settled with Adam Corolla. All the while it became syndicated and became a shortlived MTV show. Yup, I know of "Loveline".

SecretMethod70 10-14-2004 10:39 PM

MTV Loveline sucked. However, the radio show I've always liked. I listened to it most from 6th to 10th grade or so. Still listen to it every now and then though (am in my 4th year of college atm)

CoachAlan 10-15-2004 02:23 AM

Speaking of 91x, I was in San Diego last weekend and I listened to 91x as often as I could because it is the greatest radio station in the history of man.

They kept indicating that they were going to change their format or something, and the announcement would come on Monday. Tell me it isn't so!

(Sorry for hijacking the thread. Carry on, please.)

By the way, I love Loveline. Adam Corolla is friggin' hilarious. More radio could be as hilarious as this show if the FCC wasn't busy overstepping their authority and infringing our First Amendment Rights.

alansmithee 10-15-2004 02:45 AM

I didn't know that show was still on. I remember checking it out after the MTV show, but I lost track of it in our area. We seem to get crap for syndicated shows in central MI.

Shizukana 10-15-2004 04:38 AM

The radio show was great.

Too bad Clear Channel (aka Satan) took away the radio station around here that played it... which also happened to be the only good rock station around. Fuckers. I used to listen to LL every night on the way home from wherever I was.

Pleh. Heres what I think of you, CC...

It was just dropped from the Connecticut station that had it. I used to listen on the drive home after chorus rehearsal, just to hear what sort of idiots called in. It helped to keep me awake.

athletics 10-15-2004 06:55 AM

It comes on in Atlanta and it is the funniest radio show on today. I worked in radio for a while and Adam has a reputation for being brilliantly funny. And they are right.

If you want to stream it, its on www.buzzatlanta.com from 10-12 Eastern. As far as I know, its the only streamed Loveline.

astralusion 10-15-2004 08:03 AM

That's why these programs exist. For more information, see schadenfreude.

Undercover_Man 10-15-2004 11:43 AM

To all you ppl who are saying that you don't get it in your area, you can go to 91x's website (link in first post) and they air it online...over the internet...it's Sunday-Thursday @ Midnight-2AM CST or 10PM-Midnight over in the California time zone where KROQ is...BTW Cardfrek...they are still with KROQ...

Anyone else know where they play it on the internet???

I LOVE LOVELINE!

I listen everynight.

If you all know about podcasts, can someone tell me where they podcast it? Just MP3s, I guess.

Psycho Dad 10-15-2004 08:02 PM

I always liked it when it was on MTV. CNBC I think it was had a show that used to be on called Real Personal. I always like that too. I think that if people could talk openly about sexuality the world would be easier to live in.

Anomaly_ 10-15-2004 08:19 PM

I am a huge Loveline fan and have about 500 shows archived in mp3 format (a good portion commercial-free at 128 kbps). As such, I tend to cringe whenever I hear euphemisms like "sexual openess" and "controllable drug use" on this board and elsewhere. Adam and Dr. Drew cut right through the crap that people buy into, which is always refreshing--as Adam would say: "When did your dad rape ya?"

There is a DC++ hub for shows with the address: loveline.redirectme.net.

flamingpeach 10-15-2004 10:48 PM

I listen every so often. Thier wacky opinions make me laugh, and when they hang up on people. :)

Arroe 10-16-2004 12:24 AM

I love loveline. I actually learn something from there every once and a while that I can impress my friends with. :)

gondath 10-16-2004 03:01 PM

I think loveline is yet another example of a show with claims to help people that doesn't deliver. It's solely for entertainment purposes. The advice they give is questionable, and they are far from respectful to the callers. I think America needs to either take its social problems more seriously or give up trying to fix them. I feel sorry for the people with legitimate problems who call into the show and expect real help. I hope most of them are only calling for fun.

SiN 10-16-2004 03:08 PM

I used to listen to it whenever I had a chance, when I lived in the US.

one of these days i just might look into streaming/d/l it...I miss it. good times.

:)

Fremen 10-16-2004 04:58 PM

Dr. Drew seems like a great guy.

Gofclowns 10-16-2004 10:07 PM

I would but they don't play it here in houston :(

That's why I gave you the link above so you CAN listen to it...over the internet...

Latch 10-17-2004 01:16 AM

Yeah.. I also used to listen to it from about 6th->10th grade, something like that. It's a great show. I've downloaded a couple episodes since then, as it's not on over here. May have to work out the time zones and listen to it streaming.

Thanks for the link.

Anomaly_ 10-17-2004 01:53 PM

In addition to the DC++ hub, the current week's shows can be found on the alt.binaries.great and alt.binaries.sounds.radio.misc newsgroups (commercial-free).

Missy 10-17-2004 05:22 PM

That show is hilarious. I haven't listened to it in years. Has anyone else listened to them when they pick up the fire alarm low battery noise in the background? Its amazing how often it happens on that show. It makes me crack up when they start timing it.

reiii 10-17-2004 09:01 PM

I've always really disliked Dr.Drew. He is so quick to sympathy or patronizing criticism.

Option 1:
Caller: I have X problem
Dr. Drew: You were molested as a child weren't you?
Caller: How did you know?
Dr. Drew: (out pouring of sympathy and useless advice e.g. see professional help if your so f*cked up)

Option 2:
Caller: I have X problem
Dr. Drew: It's your own fault, go get professional help

I don't know, something about the whole thing irks me.

ugh I hated working with that production company... they actually were more of the same group and not an MTV production. They were totally prima donnas and just sucked to work with... they thought that since they went "national" via MTV it was their time to shine.

I do recall listening to it back in the early days.. remembering people talking about Drew Barrymore and Eddie Furlong as people they slept with...

Undercover_Man 10-18-2004 09:06 PM

OK...for the ppl who don't know when Loveline comes on on 91x.com, as of right now it has started. Actually they're late as usual but this is what time it is supposed to start minuss 6 minutes. It lasts for 2 hours so look at the time I posted this. If you set your time zone settings correctly in TFP options then it should show what time it starts for you. Just wanted to point out the time to you ppl.
