Santiago - A Chilean co-ed short on tuition money announced the auction of her virginity during a local radio programme.

"I have a gynaecological certificate that my hymen is intact," said the 21-year-old.

The auction opens in a week over the internet. Bidding starts at the equivalent of $990 she said over the "W" radio network programme, The Crab Club, one of the country's most popular shows.

The student insisted she was not a prostitute. Rather, giving up her virginity was the only way to defray her tuition, she said.

I totally agree here. The guy who she gets isn't going to have one shred of concern for her enjoyment. She is going to regret this sooner or later. I can think of so many better ways to make money if you've got at least half a brain. I can make over $200 easy in one week without setting foot outside my house even once and that's without paying $100 for child care for my daughter either.

Virginity is nice and all but I don't see much cash incentive except for a few guys with some "issues". I would much rather be with an experienced woman, especially if I was going to have to pay for it.

She may regret it later but then she is from a different culture and obviously her education matters more to her than the physical act.

A virgin was a unique experience when I was 15 or 16. That was also about the time most of the fun (?) or sense of accomplishment went away. I'll take someone that knows what they are doing and doing it because they want to anytime.
