Outdoor Wooden Swing Set

I am about to purchase an wooden outdoor swing set with a slide. I have a choice of either a yellow plastic slide or green plastic slide. I have been told that I should go with the yellow one because it will not be as hot when the sun is bearing down on it. The sales person said it will not be that noticable of a difference. Does anyone have any experience or knowledge on which one I should use. Thanks

I don't really think it would make that much of a difference. I remember my family used to have a playset similar to the one you are describing, and our slide was green. I don't ever recall burning myself on it.

as a landscape architect who deals alot with playground equipment, i personally dont see either option being bad for heat... if you went with a stainless steel slide - that would be HOT! also, black would be hot too, but its main drawback is that it would fade quicker...

the yellow will definately stick out like a sore thumb, though. so, depending on the color of green, it may blend in quite nicely with the surrounding greenery - also, it may keep the unit looking less like an amusement park, and more like an activity center...

we currently renovate alot of public playground facilities and often immediately replace the yellow plastic pieces with brown or green because yellow is just obnoxious... just like yellow cars - "yellow means fast!"

the difference between yellow and green in heat absorbtion is fairly small, besides it's plastic so it's not going to get nearly as hot as a metal slide, but I have to agree with twan5 that the green would probably look better, especially with a wooden swing set.
