If you enjoy the TFP, please donate!

Hi people. I know I haven't done this in a while, but I've been footing most of the bill for the last few months and it's really making it tough on me. I need your help to pay for this site, especially since we're now averaging over 200 viewers at any single moment. We've gone over our bandwidth limit a little bit in the last 2 months and I can't get on as I do if it keeps increasing.

Donations can be any amount you like, but I would prefer a minimum of $5. The average donation is $20 and the largest donation we've ever gotten was $250. The hosting cost for both of the TFP's servers (1U and a 4U) and it's base bandwidth allowance is $400 a month, plus bandwidth overage charges.

When you donate, you get a 'Donor' tag under your name which let's other people know that you're cool.

I know you're gonna ask, but the answer is no, I don't have PayPal. They cancelled my membership and barred my bank account a long time ago because this site is adult oriented. I don't have any means to create a new account with them. So, the only methods of donation are either via Yahoo PayDirect or snail mail.

Yahoo PayDirect: <a href="https://paydirect.yahoo.com/PD/onePage/onePageSendMoneyX-drv.pd?PartnerLoginName=&RecipientName=Andrew+Gonsalves&RecipientEMailAddr=develdevil36%40yahoo.com&PaymentAmount=&Memo=TFP+Donation&Message=Enter+in+your+username+here&Pad=rt5BWXGdcwfOd06VGm7IWg2o6b0-&which=CHARITY" target=_blank><img src="http://sec.yimg.com/i/pd/bn/wd_don.gif" border=0 alt=""></a>

Thanks.

SinisterMotives 07-07-2004 02:02 PM

Do you take money orders, Halx?

Halx 07-07-2004 02:04 PM

yep, but if you pay with a check, you get my nifty signature in the mail in a month.

ShaniFaye 07-07-2004 02:08 PM

I will be mailing you a check on the 15th :)

or actually I can mail it now and by the time you get it and get it to the bank it will prob be the 15th wont it?

laconic1 07-07-2004 02:19 PM

I just sent $20.00 via PayDirect. After 2 years it was finally time to put my money where my mouth is.

MooseMan3000 07-07-2004 02:45 PM

Alright, I'm waiting on Yahoo to let my donation go through (looks like it's gonna time out... doh!)

And I don't mean to be a dick, but I think I have a pretty good idea where that bandwidth is going. And I think I have an idea (read: someone else's idea from several months back that I'm pretending is mine because it seemed to work, for a while) as to how to fix it. But maybe I'm being presumptious.

Note: If you've been around more than a few months, you'll probably know what I'm talking about.

tecoyah 07-07-2004 02:55 PM

Check is in the mail.....Yahoo asks more questions than my mortgage paperwork.

ForgottenKnight 07-07-2004 03:15 PM

I just sent you a small donation through Yahoo PayDirect. I hope you get it! I wish I could donate more, but I did my finances today, did a few calculations, and saw that I will be in a much tighter financial squeese this year than any of the past years, and much tighter than I had expected.

Mehoni 07-07-2004 03:20 PM

Bah, I can't do the Yahoo-stuff (no SSN since I'm not american) and we don't use checks here. :/

Halx 07-07-2004 03:31 PM

Mehoni, most foreign donations come via money order. Just a suggestion.

World's King 07-07-2004 03:38 PM

Do you take sexual favors?

BigGov 07-07-2004 03:39 PM

I'm donating as soon as I get my credit card bill in the mail.

apeman 07-07-2004 03:52 PM

jizzmasterp 07-07-2004 04:51 PM

Will you take a CDN $20 in the mail?

Halx 07-07-2004 05:12 PM

I cant do anything with Canadian money

Averett 07-07-2004 05:24 PM

Can't you go to your friendly neighborhood bank and exchange it? Better than nothing I'd figure.

If you write checks, Hal can cash them at his bank. He might not know so, but if he just goes and tells them that they're British and Canadian checks respectively, they'll get the right exchange rate.

On the other hand, if you send him cash, his bank MIGHT not offer the changing service. Or it might cost money. Depends on the bank.

My bank scans them and puts them online. I never see a check after it goes in the drawer.

There should be places where you can get a money order and/or wire the funds-even if you get a USD bill, you shouldn't mail it-if it gets lost, you're both out of the money. Check with Western Union to see how to go about it.

Well, I can see a scanned copy of my check. But if I'm writing it to the TFProject won't you have to endorse it "TFProject?"

'scuse my "midwestern-ness" but I've never seen a street number with a letter attached. The "MBE #351" I have no clue about either, little help? Is that a PO Box, or something like that?

I constantly wonder if some sort of thread with a running donations total might help. Of course, I also wonder if that'd make some people, the ones that care, keep donating when they see the site needs it. I'd be worried about some people paying too much. WOuld it in fact discourage people from donating if they saw the minimum was met? Would it make people think the board is a money making venture? "All about the bling," they'd be thinking.

Or, do occasional posts like this help more than any other stratagey?

The TFP's money situation interests me, I think, because I get something from my time here, and I value that. If I knew how badly funds were needed, I might be reminded, "oh yeah, instead of buying that 6 pack of Newcastle, send Halx ten bucks."

Just me thinking out loud though...

rockogre 07-08-2004 08:30 AM

I have tried to donate every quarter for some time now but this quarter is running a little late. I'll get it to ya when I can though. Hopefully before the end of the month.

Youse guys that love the titty board, pony up a little:)

Averett 07-08-2004 09:07 AM

The MBE is most likely a Mail Boxes Etc.store mailbox.

degrawj 07-08-2004 12:19 PM

so do i make the check payable to TFProject? i want to send it out today, so a quick response would be nice! :-)

Halx 07-08-2004 12:23 PM

yep

absorbentishe 07-08-2004 02:05 PM

I got to send a money order. Can't let my wife know I spent money from my slush fund. I'll send that to you next week. I've been meaning to get you some cash, now's as good a time as any!

greytone 07-08-2004 03:54 PM

My check will be in the mail this weekend.

billege 07-08-2004 11:45 PM

$400/month? After looking through a magazine I saw 30 gigs a month for like, 30 bucks. Holay shit! How much is the board pushing a month!? I'm getting the feeling it's a heck of a lot more than I thought....

BigGov 07-08-2004 11:50 PM

Well, these are quality servers that I can't remember ever being down because of technical reasons (V.4 anyways, damn V.3), that and the bandwith is far more than you think.

animosity 07-09-2004 07:14 AM

well, im broke at the moment but i am back to work this month so i can put up some money here in a couple weeks. i should have a money order sent before the end of the month...

Agreed, I won't use Yahoo. I tried feeding them total bullshit, but they weren't buying. And I'm certainly not giving them anything real.

I'll have to do this tonight.

ShaniFaye 07-09-2004 07:45 AM

The check is in the mailbox waiting for the mailman :icare:

k1ng 07-09-2004 03:19 PM

I just used my bank's online bill pay service to send a donation check. For those of you who have online bill pay and are too lazy to write & mail a check or sign up for Yahoo, this is great option.

I just added TFProject as a Payee and sent a one time payment and used my username as my account # :)

Halx 07-09-2004 03:27 PM

That's pretty smart k1ng.. good thinking

Scorps 07-09-2004 06:38 PM

Man I would love to donate but I got zero cash right now, hard times when your paying big bucks for a damn VISA thats got to be paid off. Then after thats paid off hopefully by Fall I'm going to get a loan to get a car......thats another bunch of money I got to pay off!

So hopefully this place stays alive until next year and hopefully everything pan's out for me then I will send some cash your way:thumbsup:

absorbentishe 07-11-2004 05:30 PM

In the mail.

Come on y'all, if you love it here, show it!!

denim 07-11-2004 06:42 PM

Did it a few hours ago. The box turtle should be in Hal's hands in a few days.
