Shoe color depends on pants color?
I'm going through the process of interviewing for work, and my sister mentioned, in passing, that I was wearing the wrong color shoes for my pants. I don't understand and she's not around to ask.
Can someone explain this to me? What about sock color? Thanks. -Tritium |
Shoes should match belt, and socks should match pants. I only wear black shoes and a black belt. Never heard of shoes matching pants though.
Socks, tan pants, tan socks. This is what I subscribe to, so if I'm wrong also, I'll need to change my whole apperance. |
She might have been talking about the belt. I heard enough of what she said to get confused and then she was gone (left for work).

At's right... Shoes match the belt, and if you wear no belt.. they should match your shirt. Or... just wear black or brown..... they really do match.. anything, and please... please...I ask you as a lady here...Do not wear socks that match your pants. : X

Ok. I'll throw away all my tan socks. Thanks. :)

Wardrobe choices shouldn't be confusing, but always are (I'm assuming that you are a fella -if I'm wrong, then I'll just shut up)
What kind of pants are you wearing? Suit, or you going with business casual? What kind of shoes are you wearing? Loafers, Wingtips, Other? Dark pants, dark shoes, please don't ever wear white socks, that's just not a good look. I happen to like fancier socks on men, but if you've got hairy legs, then over the calf socks please. Argyles are nice, lighter colored socks with loafers are also a nice GQ look. I happen to like tan socks. I happen to like it when the socks match the trousers, makes it look neater if you cross your legs (over the calf sock reason applies here as well) Just wear socks, the sock free look just doesn't work for me. |
You really have tan socks? I am no bussiness man. But I look at em.. and I like black socks.,or argyle. : )

Shoe colour is an easy choice for me as everything is black. 'Everything' would be one pair of steel-toed caterpillars, one worn pair of athletic shoes, and two pairs of dress shoes (one of them standard US Navy issue that makes it easy to do a sharp about face and all of that jazz).

Don't wear brown shoes with black or gray pants, wear black ones. Don't wear black shoes with khaki, brown, tan, or green pants.
|
Tan socks can be misleading because with lighter tan slacks and dark shoes, the socks sometimes look white. And we all know that is a big no-no!!!!
Not sure what she meant about the wrong shoes for your slacks because tan goes well with Black, Brown, Burgundy, and an assortment of other shoe colors. |
I only wear black shoes and a black belt.
And black socks. |
argyle socks? **shudders to think about the 80's**
Yes, Shoes compliment belt and vice versa. Sock should not be the same color as the pants, but within the same pallete absolutely. I found the best is a shade or two darker something that picks up the shoe as well. Pretty much the only all one color scheme that would work is Black, even that has its place. |
Some pants are just too light in color to go with black shoes regardless of whether a black belt is worn or not.
