Where can one find military records online?
 

My dad was born in 1910, he served in the military for several years. Is there a place where I could search where he was at or what exactly he did by running a search with his full name on some website with military records?

His name was George Hall, he was born April 22, 1910 in the state of NY.

You might be able to contact the Army Historical Foundation. I don't know how helpful they would be though.

The National Personnel Records Center, Military Personnel Records (NPRC-MPR) is the repository of millions of military personnel, health, and medical records of discharged and deceased veterans of all services during the 20th century. As the previous poster listed, the NARA website is the place to get military records. Family members can get the records if they have the Members SSN#. However, you should know that there was a fire at the depository a few years back, and a lot of the records for the US army were lost. Hope you are able to find the records you are looking for.
Also, if you happen to know what particular outfit he was in, Google for that units veterans historical society.
