Tilted Future Project

To answer any lingering questions people may have about the new tags you see a few people wearing under their name...

Tilted Future Project
Basics
Web-based publication of writing and art.
Edgy. Funny. Smart. Provocative. Introspective.
Think - TFP in magazine form.

That's the future.

Needs
Writers. Artists. Editors. Designers. Programmers.

Outlook
Articles. Rants. Reviews. Artwork. Photography.
Cartoons. Poems. Blogs. Games. Links. News.

Dreams
First someone posts one of our articles on a message board.
Then someone posts another on their blog. It all starts. It all grows.
Months down the line, our word will have authority.
We've all ready invited several contributors, but if you feel you can add more quality writing/artwork to the mix, send me a PM and I'll see about it. Please be honest. My only fear is that those who volunteer end up flaking out.

So... there you go. This concept is only in it's beginning stages and may change dramatically in the near future.

A way to find out about what's going on before you commit yourself is to talk to a regular member with a "Future Project" tag. We've only been at it a short time so it's as new as a morning dew.

Silvy 12-08-2003 04:58 AM

Sounds very interesting.
I hope this will add to the current TFP instead of evolving from the current TFP.

Either way, you've got my full support Hal!

MSD 12-08-2003 07:29 AM

Well, my English professor last semester asked me if I had ever considered a career as a comedy writer ... and I am majoring in Communications.

rockzilla 12-08-2003 06:23 PM

It's an intriguing idea. I'm not sure if I'd have anything worthwhile to add, but 'TFP in Web-zine form' sounds awesome.

YourNeverThere 12-08-2003 07:29 PM

man this sounds great.

Prophecy 12-08-2003 09:22 PM

sounds interesting, but just so I understand. Are you making an online magazine? Is this going to be on this site or seperate?

feelgood 12-09-2003 10:36 AM

What kind of programmer?

JStrider 12-09-2003 10:55 AM

mmm sounds like a cool idea...

i dont know if i have much to contribute... i pointed a friend of mine on the boards to this thread... he did some pretty good cartoons in our highschool paper...

Bloodslick 12-09-2003 11:49 AM

Hmmm.

I like reviewing things, and when I try to be, some people think that I'm funny.

Hmmm.

skaterpunk 12-09-2003 12:25 PM

Halx, sounds like the idea rocks.... while i do kinda like the whole underground feel to the site, it seems the emphasis is on only a few boards. This will bring out the true potential that I feel you have wanted to convey to us all... I can't wait til the move is all complete, and to see what you have in store for us.

anti fishstick 12-09-2003 02:24 PM

mmm i've always wanted to be part of a revolution.

Cycler 12-09-2003 05:08 PM

Rock the world. Let's see where this takes us.

flamingpeach 12-09-2003 05:24 PM

sounds like a great idea. I'd love to take part.

Nefir 12-09-2003 06:08 PM

Interesting idea! I'm looking forward to seeing it materialize, and will hopefully be able to contribute something of value once it does, though I'm not sure how. Good luck! :)

Fire 12-09-2003 08:40 PM

I would second Prophecy's question- If its to be sort of a seperate magazine I would love to do product reviews- specificly on knives- havent Pm'ed as am curious to se how this evolves

I echo that question. I am always looking for interesting projects.
I have the feeling though that my skills don't apply to the creation of a web-zine (I don't work with backend stuff, I develop it. Most of what you need is already freely available.)

omega2K4 12-09-2003 09:00 PM

If you need anyone to write anything about video games, feel free to ask me.

bender 12-10-2003 01:31 PM

Damn.
I thought that it had something to do with time travel.

Nhanced1 12-10-2003 02:34 PM

I'd be very interested. I'm continuing my computer science program at the University of Arizona right now, and I'd be happy to help. If you need a beginning java programmer, I am your man. :)

feelgood 12-10-2003 04:55 PM

Put me down for programmer if you need Oracle SQL, intermediate Java and beginning VB.

bobbles 12-14-2003 02:18 AM

If this thing ever needs computer related articles (hardware/software, not coding i am referring to here) i have experience with reviews/articles etc. (probly not needed though)

phaedrus 12-14-2003 04:11 PM

Halx, I was going to pm you this, but I thought other people would be interesting in the answers to these questions as well.

This tells me you want to create a webzine. What it doesn't tell me is much anything about the webzine. Will it have a theme? As most magazines do (e.g. maxim, people, architectural digest, etc....) or is it going to be an eclectic collection of random topics covering just about anything as the forums seem to be. I've been known to put my pen to paper, but before I can volunteer my services, I would like to know more about the concept. What is the magazine's mission statement?

Halx 12-14-2003 04:22 PM

People have questions. That's why we have a group of people figuring it out.

moonstrucksoul 12-14-2003 04:26 PM

i will have to see what i can contribute, i draw, and sometimes write stuff. hmmm . . .

When the group has figured it out, let me know. I might have something worth contributing.

Fire 12-14-2003 07:58 PM

ditto on the above- I think I could contribute the occasional review on / product evaluation on my favorite inanimate objects, knives-

sailor 12-15-2003 04:46 PM

Id love to help. I have a good bit of experience with web design and photography (both of which can be seen on my website: http://www.theravenel.net). Hopefully school wont kick my ass too hard and prevent me from helping.

moonstrucksoul 12-16-2003 12:01 PM

what is a "blog"? forgive my ignorance.

sailor 12-16-2003 12:03 PM

Short for weblog. Its sort of like a public web-based journal of sorts.

thanks

kalisto_911 12-22-2003 01:01 PM

A setup like Amazon would be neet, everyone just writing reviews of anything, then you could pick out the best ones.
