Feel good posts?
Rather than highjack a certain feel good post on this board I decided to make my own post in order to address something that I found disturbing.
You people out there that have to post crap like “This is a fake!”, “Is anybody else sick of these smaltzy sickening fake emails yet?”, etc. Why post it? If you don't like it why comment at all? Are your intentions really to hurt someone’s feelings? I think all the negative posters need to step back and take a look at the point they are trying to make and make a new post about it. Posting it here only makes you look like an insensitive troll looking to hurt someone for no reason. When someone posts something from their heart or gives you a glimpse into their lives, why on earth would you want to stop that positive momentum with your negative drivel? I am going to stop at that before I babble on. Thanks |
your none stop cries of racism everytime someone disagrees with you doesn't exactly instill positivity.
|
I thought that if it got posted it was open to criticism, both positive and negative. We all give our honest opinions and reactions to what we read here. To try and limit that would defeat the purpose of this forum.

heheheh, just kidding, man. I agree 100%. I know what thread you're referencing, and I replied with what I thought was a valid observation. For those particular threads, those geared at making someone's day a little brighter, negative criticism really annoys me. An anecdote that attempts to make people smile should be allowed to do just that without someone crying "fakery!" or "bullshit!" However, posts that tackle a topic of debate, even if they are focused on making someone laugh or smile, should still be open to criticism. I do, however, draw a line between those types of threads and the former type. |

Please point out where I cry racism and there is none. |

I disagree. When someone says look at what my grandma sent me. I want to share with you what makes my day happy. And you go bullshit it’s a fake! That is fucking rude. I think that is taking away from what this board is. It wasn't a post that was open for debate it was one of the members of this community sharing a part of their life with us. I for one appreciate that and don't like when dickheads try and ruin things for fun or because they think they can get cool points for being an asshole. Quote:

interesting discussion.
good points to ponder. |
Listen, I understand why you've got your panties in a wad...I read the post you're referring to. But, calling people f'in dickheads isn't exactly in the spirit of this board either.
I have to admit, when I read the post my first thought was also, "Oh God, not another saccharine bit of schmaltz." However I realised some folks might find something positive in it, so I didn't say anything. I understand why it would upset you, but your personal attacks are not much different. |
Thank you Darkblack for posting this. It seems that some members on in this forum are just rude about certain things. One thing that I would like to point out is that, here in the past 4 weeks I have been having alot of personal problems. I have been very depressed and when my grandmother sent that to me I cried, it was like she knew I had been having a bad time. It also happened to be the same day that I was having disturbing thoughts (Im letting you inside of me just this once). I appreciate you saying how wrong it is for people to trash a positive thread. I hope you have a nice day, and anyone else who reads this. Thank you

Quite the hypocrite? Anyways, "feel good" posts should be just that. I don't see the point in negative comments on a post intended to brighten someone's day. |
One of the great things about being able to type my thoughts here at TFP is the fact that I can share both the good and the bad or if I choose to, something completely arcane in nature and get an understanding of what the thoughts are of others from around the world.
If you continue to think about negatively or be around those who are, eventually you tend to become that way yourself. Look, there are a lot of young folks here just starting there paths into adulthood. I read alot of stuff from people who work go to school and are getting started in the world of having a relation ship with some one. Thats alot of stuff going on in someones head, and at same time they don't have anyone to truly be able to speak to about, maybe some items of a negetive nature. So if someone needs to be negative for a while, fine. Either don't add a comment or avoid they person's thoughts all together, no biggie. When its all said and done, sure, I can rant and rave about crap stuff all the time if I wished to do so, but I have learn to drink from the sunny side of the glass first before entertaining the thoughts of gloom. But thats just me, I can't tell others what to think, thats up to them, I'm just adding my 42 years of life's' experiences to this mix and conversation |
Rock on! We agreed on something!!!

Fallen_Angel, we all know that there are plenty of feel-good e-mails circulating out there. I normally choose to delete any e-mail that tells me to forward it on to other people after I read it. With that being said, there have been times when I actually read the e-mail and felt good about it. I needed something positive to focus on. We are all in that position at times. Stay positive and dont get down on yourself. Things normally tend to work out in the long run if we let them take their course. |
.... yo.
lemme try to clear up what I started. DB sent me a pm and he had some points. i felt kind of like i did jump the gun a bit. so i will explain what i meant; and i still stand with the overall message. and, yes, i hate seeing good threads pissed on. maybe if you can see my stance why i said what i did. this is from memory. correct me and i'll be cool with it. i am far from perfect. most of DBs posts rub me raw. i don't wanna lie by saying a couple bug me or he is this and that. 100% honesty says simply he is a good guy but his opinions often bug me shit crazy. that is not neccesarily a bad thing. what i was, and am, referring to is what i always percieved as if any white male or female disagreed with some topics db cried racism. maybe i am wrong. seems like i remember someone say tha they perfer white women and db saying that is racist. that fucking pissess me off. know why? i am sooooo anti racist! the below goes to not one individual but everyone who believes snobbish ethics period. ------------- i have made a good friend in r/l who is black. one of many. we get along greatly. she is awesome. i'm not attracted. i rarely see black women who turn me on. if my hormones don't move and the blood doesn't rush and that makes me a racist then fuck whoever called me so. i live in mississippi. i am surrounded by dipshit dumbfuck racist all of the time including some relatives. i rarely get along because i am a 'nigger lover'. then i get the dumbfucks black racists pigs also who hate me because i am white. well, fuck you too fuckwit. i have lived the one most tolerant of race and sexual preference life i know of. if my penis doesn't go hard because i am not turnedon..... fuck that. it's lame. i have seen people debate affirmative (sp) action being Good and any white anything being Bad. i have seen 20 year old black kids moan and groan about slavery. i cannot even try to comphrehend such an evil. but i didn't do any of it. not any. i am not going to watch someone fuck me over because of color due to something some other asshole did years ago. if i fuck someone over, then chastise me and punish me. but until then we are people. we are equal, or should be, and people taking advantage of their color to get jobs that others who are actually qualified cannot get is no less evil than the slave traders. in other words. i hate or love everyone equally. you aren't white or black or gay or straight, you're a human i will respect and i expect to get the respect also. i am not above anybody and nobody is sure as fuck above me. i do not play the 'bow the head once because, hey, bad shit happened'. sorry, but i pay for my own crimes. fuck anyone who wants me to pay for others. yes. this sums of my feelings on race. i love or hate everyone of you, nothing more and nothing less. but if i treat someone justly then i demand the same just like any other person on earth. |

*grabs his crotch*
I got your "feel good post" right here. |
My simple opinion: Stop whining you guys! We’ll never agree with each other about everything! And further more if every single post around here turns into a huggy – carebear commercial this place will become pretty damn boring. Now, here’s a tissue. have a nice day.

Threads like these are the reason I need to keep my ass in tilted nonsence..... But here is my 2 cents.... (I'll probably regret this)
First I Read the "feel good" post..... It was sugary but all and all it was nice. Then I read the reply to it that was a bit negative. (ok alot negative) Then I read the Reply to the Negative reply.. (It wasn't near as sugary as the original post) hahaha I guess If you post here Someone could piss on your parade. Is it nice? NO, but they have their rights to post what they feel about something. Remember, If someone does try and bring you down.... you can ignore them. Its hard to do, but sometimes people post negative just to get in "arguments". Its easy to cuss someone out over the computer. I am sure that everyone has done something by way of the computer that they would never do in real life. If you ignore them, they tend to go away. ok, I am done.... I'll go back to the Nonsence board now..... Oh and thanks for the tissue cnor! |

Second- I was referring to you calling him a name while telling him not to call others names. Lastly- That wasn't directed to you. |
I'm going to say this just once, everyone step back and take a deep breath. Now calm down. This is the only warning that will be given in this thread. Now play nice.
|
Maybe this is a test, maybe it's trying to prove a piont? Seeing how long it take sto get really negative? Just a thought.

I honestly dont think that one sugary post can be that detrimental to this forums life. come on people this is not the end of the world, we all need a little good to go with all the bad, couldnt you just have taken the post with a grain of salt if you really didnt like it instead of bashing it as much as you did??

Re: Feel good posts?
The thing I find most disturbing about the 'thread that will not be named' that started this discussion is that the posts deemed inflammatory were removed without comment. I would prefer to see edits. If an entire post is going to get chucked, I would prefer to see an empty space with a name and an avatar and a comment from a mod. That way my addled brain won't see jumps in a discussion and have to put together the pieces.
I also think that the original comment from darkblack Quote:
Why is it always about YOU people? How about a little self-responsible commentary from the oh-so-holy that never say bad things? What is instructive for me is to look at how my reaction to things says more about ME than it does about YOU. I am YOU people. |
I don't even know what other thread everyone is referring to, but this thread doesn't seem to be made with the purpose of promoting healthy discussion. Don't complain about trolls and flamers in a thread that is clearly flamebait...
I'm assuming the original discussion had something to do with a chain letter or something. If this indeed is about something their grandma emailed them and made their day better; here's my response: Old people are gullible and more likely to believe and perpetuate these chain letters. I have never come across a chain letter that had any truth to it, and so I do not participate in them. If something makes my day and I post it here, great. but if it IS fake, I'd rather know. I guess it relates to this thread in a way, would you prefer to live in ignorant bliss or know the painful truth? It's not the veracity of these stories that makes us feel better, it's the stories themselves. If learning some touching email forwarded to you is fictional ruins your day, then you need to reassess how you achieve happiness. That said, I can spot bullshit when I see it, but around here I leave it up to someone else to point it out (unless it's something I'm vehemently opposed to), it's just not worth the conflict. |
