What type of cell phone do you have?

I'm looking to upgrade right now. What cell phone do you all have, or what one would you like to have?

bernadette 08-26-2003 10:59 AM

well, i'll be of absolutely no help here. mine is an old motorola/sprint one that was considered "small" when i got it several yrs back... now it looks like a sherman tank next to the new ones.

i can't justify buying a new one tho when this one still functions & i rarely use it.

Fallen 08-26-2003 11:52 AM

My phone is a 2 year old Sprint flip phone. I haven't even looked at new phones in a long time. This one still functions perfectly and I don't need any new features or gadgets.

Looks like this:

just your standard issue nokia from cingular

pagliachi2003 08-26-2003 12:43 PM

Same here, standar Nokia that came free w/ the plan. It shuts off on its own all the time, so I wouldn't recommend it.

I don't own one...I don't want to field phone calls all day when I am out doing other things. If the call is important enough, they'll call my home number and leave a message.

And my job doesn't require me to have one.

check out amazon rather than the phones through the company... They can add up to some fat rebates.

Samsung flip phone from Verizon. It's pretty nice and has lots of features available for download, but the downside is that you have to pay for all of them. It has a strong signal almost everywhere (I used to have Sprint and absolutely hated it) and I'm pretty happy with it.

its a little bulky, and its not waterproof (as i found out)... but i like.

there are many better versions of the camera phone out there now, so this ones out-dated, but iŽll definitely get another nokia after this.

Don't have one, thinking about getting an N-Gage though, more for the gaming, but hey, a phone is useful to me in some situations...

Nah, I don't have one and I don't want one. I don't want to be in constant contact. I go to work to get away from people, 20-55 minutes per hour of just me versus the traffic and no one else. If anybody wants me bad enough, they can call me at work. Their call might even be answered by someone literate enough to take a message, but I wouldn't bet on it.

badflsh 08-26-2003 06:51 PM

Samsung s105 with T-mobile. For the most part I really like it. There are a couple of minor things that bug me like the way they did some of the menu stuff with the calendar but nothing major. 3 of my friends got them after playing with mine a little and they are all happy.

onodrim 08-26-2003 06:51 PM

I have a fairly new Nokia, works pretty decently. I've never heard anyone complain about that brand, so it seems like a good choice. I'm no expert on cell phones though, so get second opinions. :)

Mel 08-26-2003 09:19 PM

I have an Alcatal.. its old tho

KeyserSoze 08-26-2003 09:29 PM

My company gave me one and I kept it for two whole weeks......then I gave the irritating thing back.:D and refused to use it.

I hate those damn things, but I do get a good laugh when I see a couple in a car and both of them are talking on cell phones instead of eachother:lol:

Just bought a Nokia 6610, very nice phone albeit a little fragile if you drop it. Three freinds have dropped their's and cracked the lcd screen. Nice featured phone with all the bells and whistles, no bluetooth though.

LG 5350

Nice phone, good features, but the extended life battery lasts all of two days.

After selling phones for both Sprint and Verizon, I have to say:

Do not get Sprint
Do not get sprint

Got it?

I honestly do not know. My mom got it for me and I only use it to play games while waiting for my classes to start... I think it might be AT&T or something. I don't even know where it is at this moment now that I think about it... My mom has the exact model and when she tries to talk to me with it I cannot hear a thing so don't get any cell phone service from AT&T.

Verizon - Samsung flip phone.

Baldrick 08-29-2003 05:19 PM

I've owned several cel phones over the years, and the first thing I demand is that it has to be a Motorola phone. I love that they build a phone that can handle some abuse. I've even driven over my phone twice (don't ask...), and not even a scratch.

Lestat 08-29-2003 11:18 PM

Sanyo 5300 sprint camera phone. Great phone. Kinda big, but its built like a tank.

nash 08-30-2003 10:37 AM

A 4+ year old Nokia 5100 series phone. It used to shut off "randomly" but I found out it was because the battery was loose and was losing contact with the metal contacts on the phone. I taped it up on the top and bottom (you need to cut out a piece for the speaker) and now it works fine.

Nokia 7650.
I'm a sw engineer, so I developed couple of applications for that nice Symbian OS...

jbrooks544 08-30-2003 03:26 PM

Cingular's Nokia 3560 - was the best "free" one they had available. color screen, polyphonic tones - great features, good reception, fairly small, etc. No camera or anything like that. You need to go to your carrier's store to see what they actually have available for free or for how much extra. Write them down and then go to epinions.com , etc. to get feedback on which ones suck vs. not suck.

goof7ball 08-30-2003 03:32 PM

I got a Sanyo picture phone (through Sprint). After rebate (and a two year contract) it was only $100. It takes decent pictures, and has a nice form factor. My wife and I both got one and we send pictures back and forth with it. It is really convenient when one of us goes and shopping and needs to get an opinion on how something looks.

StormBerlin 08-30-2003 03:52 PM

I have an N400.
It's a great phone.... And pretty cheap too. Retail they run about $150.

old school nokia 5160...have had it for almost 4 years now and abused the hell out of it.

tikki 08-31-2003 01:53 AM

Samsung N400 - one of Sprint's 3G Vision phones. I've had Sprint for a few months and it's been OK. I haven't had any trouble with them, but I've heard about a lot of people who have. Battery life is a down side though - I even got the extended battery and it only lasts a day if you do a lot of web surfing or games (stuff that uses the backlit screen). Still, I'm happy with it, and it's really nice to be able to get on the internet while I'm waiting to get into a restaurant or something.

blindawg 09-01-2003 02:41 PM

I have a Nextel i50.. descent phone, work foots teh bill, so even better. On the largish size nowdays, and until i go the large battery , battery life wasn't great. But the nation wide two feature is great if you have a use for it..

Ive got that same phone. Love it. Yeah, the nicest thing about it is the internet, but the battery does kinda go down pretty quick if you do a lot of internet on it, like AOL Instant Messenger.

I've got a Sony Ericsson t68i. Bought it for the Bluetooth, which I use only occasionally now. Bluetooth handsfree is cool, though.

I think the phone has been discontinued, and I don't really recommend it due to TERRIBLE RF reception. Tmobile is pretty good, but get the Nokia 3650 :)

It's my first flip phone and I have to say I definately prefer flip phones just because you don't get pocket calls anymore--for those who like to keep their phone in a pocket. Yes I know hand set phones have key locks but even with key lock on you can get pocket calls.

I don't need a lot of bell and whistles on my cell phone. Color screens, cameras, mp3 players, and other such luxuries aren't really what I'm looking for in a phone. This phone doesn't have a lot, but it's still unique enough to keep me happy. It's also incredibly small and light.
