I know only a few of us will read all the 1000 things.

But what is something that is awesome?

Getting into the subway just as the door closes.

Getting a free cab ride home to help carry my groceries.

sticking an 8-iron approach shot less than two feet from the cup, making the putt, and collecting a $46 skin...

(did it last sunday on #4 at timber greens in new port richey...)

coming hard and fast into a turn, double downshifting heal-and-toe rev matching so smooth it's almost like I never shifted as I pass the Porsche GT3 exiting the turn.

Probably not a fit with the book theme, but anyway ... :p

Being flagged down in a supermarket parking lot on Christmas eve to find out your car has a totally flat tire, thinking you've got to ride it home somehow, and then having those total strangers insist on changing it for you just because it's Christmas eve.

Then waiting a week for your only trusted mechanic to reopen from the holidays and fixing the tire at no cost because you had to wait an hour.

Awesomeness!

Realizing you have EXACTLY the right tool for the job.

Shower beer.

Hulu in the bathtub
Turbo diesel injection
The smell of carbouretor cleaner
Oatmeal baths
Knowing how to change your own belts on a car
Library cards... and the addition of e-books to their collection

Having a magazine art director find one of your photos on-line, then call and offer you $300.00 to use it in their book.....

And then, having the check show up one week before Christmas!

When you go to the hardware store to buy the tool you know you have but just can't find, you might be a redneck.

Or according to my 5 year old grandson, 'What do you buy at Home Depot? "Big Boy toys".' .

Books.

Namely, poetry and fiction. Like photography and recorded music, they are a reproduction-based manifestation of art. You are meant to enjoy the reproduction as the experience of the art itself.

There is something to be said about visiting a painting or a work of architecture, or going to a live performance, to behold it with your own eyes or hear it as it's created. However, it's awesome to have shelves full of art in my own home that I can manhandle at any time.

Most of these works of art can be had for the cost of a meal, and they can be borrowed free of charge from your local library.

A snowy day, a fire in the fireplace, a nice glass of wine for both of us.

The relief felt especially during those first few milliseconds of a song selected to mirror exactly what you're feeling.

Watching MST3K for the first time in ten years, I forgot how funny that show was. Knowing that I can still kickass in Marvel vs. Capcom and a day that is so great that nothing can bum you out.

I second finding money in an pair of pants or jacket pocket that was buried deep in the closet.

-Getting off work early on a Friday due to either high sales or a power outage. just awesome.
-Forgetting the time when I am running and going over my distance goal.
-when my wife puts a new bar of soap in the shower for me when the last bar was getting low.
-Any picture of Salma Hayek.

Walking in to find that she flushed.

Dunno, finishing the New Testament is kinda depressing. "Wait, what? That's it?"

Waking up relatively early and realizing, you did get enough rest and you can actually get something done during the rest of the day.

When you catch strangers throwing out Arnold Schwarzenegger movie quips in public. "Get to the choppa!"

And it's even more awesome, when they actually have a choppa waiting for you...

but the best is by far
hearing a song that you used to love to death and recalling where you were in life when you played it.
