Legos
Does anyone here still Build legos? Recently, I've started building again. I hate to say "play" because I never really played with legos, just build and destroy, or if its good enough sit it on a shelf forever.
I only have 4 bought sets put together right now http://www.bricklink.com/SL/5571-1.jpg The above is my favorite lego set even though I don't even like Semi trucks... I also have: 8440 - Red Hotrod Car 8430 - Blue Motorcycle 5591 - Red Bird Semi + Trailer and Airplane Well I guess you can count set #8469 too.. its a 10$ set I got at wal-mart.. all I wanted was the tires to complete two original semi models that I've been working on.. Ugh I wish my cousin liked something other than Semis... |
legos are where it at...
i don't build them anymore... but I loved them and still am impressed by them. I'm quite impressed with some of the new robotics for legos... now those are really cool |
Legos rule! When I was younger I went to legoland somewhere in Europe. Holy jeebus, it was awesome.
I wish I could find the star wars lego sets. Not the cheesy looking ones, but the technical x-wing fighter/millenium falcon/slav I (i think thats what it is called)/etc. |
I build with Legos. I have a very large collection, I usually work on building castles and other medieval structures.
Jim Kata, if you have a vast personal fortune, you can find those sets on eBay. |
I don't build with Legos, but my son is definitely into them. He has most of the Star Wars ships on display in his house. I have pictures of his 3 year old son next to the Star Destroyer. The ship is bigger.
From what I hear for my son, those sets a extremely expensive. He has spent several hundred dollars just on the Star Wars sets. BTW, my son will be 30 in November. |
I boxed 'em all up and stuck them in the attic at my parents. Nothing helps expand the mind like Legos. A toy that actually won't cause you to be stupider when you are done with it.
Most of the toys I had I sold. (garage sale, etc.) But I have a TON of Legos - and, since they are a little pricey, they went upstairs for my kids to play with someday. Right next to the Matchbox cars and Micro Machines. :D |
Hello, I'm MikeyChalupa and I'm a Lego addict.
If you haven't played with Lego since you were a kid, you really should take a look at what the Holy Brick looks like now. The Star Wars sets are amazing, there are also Harry Potter, NBA, NHL, Spider-Man, and soccer themed sets, as well as many many others. Lego has a massive AFOL (Adult Fan Of Lego) on-line presence. Some sites to check: www.lego.com www.lugnet.com www.bricklink.com www.brickshelf.com www.brickset.com See you there... -Mikey |
lego my ego
|
I love Lego. I kept all my Lego from when I was a kid and gave it to my son a few years ago.
He is a Lego addict. He loves it when I sit down and make something with him (so do I). I must say that Lego has really changed since I was a kid. A lot more specialized pieces. When I was a kid we were happy if we had a block with POLICE printed on it because then we would have a stylin' cop car. Is that Semi kit pictured above Lego or Mega Blocks? |
Its lego. Here is another picture of the same thing.

I almost forgot to mention that last year a guy entered a Lego construction in the County Fair Craft Exhibits.
He made a soccer stadium complete with teams, score boards, TV cameras, and fans in the stands. Of the fans there were sections for Star Wars figures, Harry Potter figures, Cowboys and Indians, Pirates, etc. It was huge and really neat. I searched the archives of our local paper to see if I could link their article or picture. Unfortunately, they deleted the article. I think we took a picture of it. If I can find it, I'll post it. |

Or was it a baseball stadium? -Mikey |
When I have my own house there will be an entire room in my basement dedicated to Legos. :D
|
Ohmigawd, Legos are teh roxorz. I had almost forgot about them. hmmm......... lego computer case. *runs to find collection of legos*
|
Here's a cool mod you can do to your mouse... turn it into a cryo-chamber for a lucky minifig...

d00d, that os fuckin AWESOME!!!
|
now.. those are REAL toys.
Loved playing with those when i was a kid. My kids (when i have em...that is...) are definitely going to get a few sets....... |
In my programming class in highschool we used the robotic legos to build a bot. It had to be built with a single light sensor and programmed to follow a line around the room. I don't think I learned a lot programming wise, but it was still fun. :)
http://mindstorms.lego.com/eng/produ...risdetails.asp That cryo-chamber for the mouse looks awesome. |
they got some cool ass legos sets now, mindstorm, technic and the robotic ones are cooool.
expensive but cool. |

I had legos as a kid, and I really liked them. Not so much making the premade designs, that was usually nice to look at but not much fun. What was actually fun was making whatever the hell I wanted to with them. I think that, compared with most of the other toys available, any child would benefit far more from playing with legos. I suspect that doing so encourages creativity and imagination.
|
I love legos!!!! Even at 21 years old :)
I really like to buy the and build the bionicles. heh.. even still play with Mr. Potato Head. :) |
I'm like a big kid sometimes. I always enjoyed Legos as a kid, and like Secret, one day I'll end up with a ton of them sitting in a room somewhere.
|
Legos are definitely cool, but I sadly don't have any anymore..............
|
I *played* with, built, and destroyed many Lego sets in my day. Lego is by the far the most ingenious toy to date. If I had some time (and Lego, since they're all at home), I'd be playing with them right now.

I used to love lego. I really, really did. But then I spent 3 months developing a weather station application for Lejos, the Java derivative for Lego Mindstorms. Now, I'll be happy if I never see a piece of lego again in my life.
BEWARE THE EVIL THAT IS LEJOS! |
I always wanted Legos, but my parents never got them for me. Now that I have a child (with another on the way) I can't wait until they're big enough to buy them Legos. I've already bought Mega Bloks for my 2 yr. old, and we love to build tall towers, and my daughter loves to knock them down!
|
My two favourite things to build:
1) The CN Tower (complete with revolving resaurant) 2) A cable car that I would string from one end of the room to the other... It rocked. Question: Is it Lego or Legos... I've always called it Lego (no 's'). I played with my Lego. I'm playing with my Lego. I want to play Lego. I bought lots of Lego. Whenever I hear Legos is just doesn't sound right... Is it just me? |
Charlatan, I guess it started out as lego bricks, with Lego being the company that created bricks, but if say you play with bricks someone might think you have problems. Either way, I don't build them from grammar lessons anyways :)
|
Legos ROCK!!!! I'm an architect, and I credit Legos with fostering my early desire to build things of all sorts. I still have every lego I ever bought as a kid.
|
Someone gave my son a bunch of legos for his first birthday. Since he was too young to play with them (choking hazard), I played with them. I sorted them by colors and built single color symmetrical monument type things out of them. My wife thought I was strange for sorting them.

i used to have 50 lbs of legos.... (sold them on ebay for $410... why why??? oh well i bought a bike and now im addicted to biking) well when i used to have legos i would create anything... i was dominant... i think they are great, they challenge you, i never built the sets i would buy a set with cool peices, then build my own thing which was way more creative and iteresting and cooler.... they are awsome
|
I still have my legos. Mostly the early space stuff all in a big plastic box. If I get some extra money I'd like to pick up the star wars sets. Always wanted them and never got around to getting them.
My lincoln logs are out on shelf though. I still like to play with those. As a quick distraction I can put together a house or something. I get lost in the lego too long and don't get anything else done if I'm messing with them. |
I once knew a dj who was called lego. He was a bad ass and made his name known throughout AZ, CO, CA. Then he got a cease and desist order from one of lego toy corporations lawyers. Now he calls himself L3go. Maybe if he had bought some of those star wars sets he wouldnt have been treated so rough.

You have to check it out. One of the most time consuming/crazy/cool things I've seen done with Legos. |
Lego's were the best part of the holidays because you knew you were gonna get some and you could not wait to put them together, if only things were that simple now.
|
Did anyone else have "lego gun" wars in their neighborhood when they were kids? Man, that was the best!
