Being rescheduled: TFP maintenance and upgrade October 9, 2010. - Tilted Forum Project Discussion Community

I've been putting this off since spring this year. I thought I'd get to it over the summer and that's come and went. Now that I have all the pieces that I require to make this work, I'm making an announcement and that I plan on doing some back end work on October 9, 2010. This means that TFP will be unavailable that weekend. I am hoping that it will only be on October 9, but if I need to continue the upgrade for whatever reason it can extend to October 10.

There's some physical maintenance that needs to happen to the server, like a new hard drive since the back up drive failed earlier this year. I am now backing it up from another data center and housing the backups in several locations to make sure I can recover if there is a total failure. I haven't figured out just what makes sense for the TFP server at this time but if we need the funds, I'll ask the community again for them.

In short this means that TFP will be unavailable on October 9, 2010, and if there are any problems the entire weekend.

Will we be able to use mIRC (or something else) to chat while this is being done?

boo! I was foiled by lack of backup from last night and the inability to back up instantly.
