Women's hair - what do you prefer?
Discussion and poll are open to both women and men ---
I've always had long hair with the exception of that awkward stage from 8-10 years old. My hair means the world to me. And I'll admit, in regards to self-esteem, I use my hair as a security blanket of sorts if that makes sense. If you haven't noticed, I wear my hair long and full. But my hair is actually pretty fine naturally, which makes it a BITCH to style. I've always been tall and curvy though, so I've always relied on my hair to balance out the DD's, small waist and hips/booty. I also find long hair on women sexy. And of course, feminine. Some chicks can really pull of short hair though. But rarely do I look at a woman and think, 'yeah she looks better with short hair.' Trust me though, if I felt I could get by with a short 'do, I would definitely try it out. My God, my life would be completely different lol. Overall though, I really prefer long, beautifully maintained hair on women. What do you find more attractive when it comes to women? Hair below the shoulders or shorter? Or does it even matter to you? |
As a general rule it doesn't matter. If the person can pull it off, then awesome. However I enjoy longer hair more. I myself have long hair as well.
|
I'm a member of the Trinity fan club. Short hair = nothing in the way during sex.
I don't know why long hair is still popular with women. It's a nuisance, isn't it? |

For myself, I prefer the mid-length style I've been wearing for the past year or so. I have had my hair very, very short (buzzed) and very long (mid-back) in the past, though. But for the most part it has been some variation of mid-length.
For other people, I don't have much of a preference. It's a personal choice. Although, I will say that some women can't pull off hair below their shoulders past a certain age without looking a little silly. Not all of them, but some. |
While I voted "above the shoulders", I really meant "above the chin". As long as it isn't a wedge, that is; I think I've only seen two women on whom it worked. (My wife was attempting to grow in a wedge on the advice of her haircutter; we all agreed that the attempt failed.)
|
I voted it doesn't matter. But I must say I am a fan of longer hair in general.
|
I have a lot of trouble growing my hair out, and I like it very much at the length it is now (just below my chin in front). I kind of intend to grow it out longer, but I keep coming back to this cut because, well, it's cute. And I can pull it off quite well.
I've done pixie, and the longest my hair has been was halfway between my shoulders and elbows, so I think you can safely place me in the "short" category when it comes to hair. |
I like longer hair. :D
|
Long, but not past the waistline. I feel sexier with long hair.
|
What, no option for "pooled in my lap, bobbing up and down"?
Hair is less important to me than eyes, but if pressed, I'm a fan of mid-length. |
Longer hair is way more attractive if the woman knows what to do with it. Sure, some look good with shorter hair too, but long-haired redheads are my kryptonite.
|
All of the above?
It totally depends on the person... their face, body, hair type, hair cut, color, personality... all important factors. And my mood. Sometimes I find really short hair totally hot. Other times it's longer hair that I like, down past the shoulders. I like it all. That said, I've definitely seen people with short hair and thought "ehh, they'd look better with longer hair," but I've never seen someone with long hair and thought it was a detriment. So, long hair kinda wins... by a hair. (*nyuk nyuk nyuk*) |
All other things being equal, I generally find longer, thicker hair more attractive on women. Having short hair, usually isn't a deal breaker, but if a woman's hairdo doesn't look feminine, then it's a turn-off. A woman whose hairdo would look more apropraite on a man is a total turn off. I'll date her on the 12th of never.

I've always had long hair - shoulder length is the shortest I've ever gone. I can't imagine feeling sexy without long hair! Some women can pull off short hair, but in general I think longer hair is sexier.

I have always had a lot of hair--it's superthick and there is a lot of it, so if it's long at all, it becomes impossible to care for and I end up throwing it in a ponytail or bun most of the time. It also gets too damn hot! In the summer, any kind of length becomes unbearable when the temps get into the 90s. I actually style/play with my hair more now that it's short! |
We've got a 3 way tie... 7, 7, 7.
|
There comes a time when it becomes necessary to pull hair for stimulation purposes!
|
Long hair on a woman, preferably going slightly grey.
it's my fetish, deal. |

I wouldn't call my hair a nuisance (other than the above mentioned instance,) but it's way high maintenance. Depending on whether my hair's just washed or already dry, flat from humidity or fly-away from winter static, it takes me anywhere from 30min to a little over an hour to style. But this is on days that I work or I have a date or something. Otherwise, I just fluff it up with my hands and a comb, spray some Paul Mitchell and I'm done. Or at minimum (especially lately since I have no job,) it's up in a messy bun / ponytail thing. And for those of you who haven't seen my hair yet, no, it's not bleach blonde mall bangs with feathered sides. I actually work hard to make it look natural, oddly enough. Quote:
Whenever I get it cut, if she goes too short (which is never even close to short,) I feel disgusting. I feel fat. I feel fkdsajfsa;hgyucky. I just need my long hair to feel womanly / sexy. But damn those 80lb. petite, dainty flowers who can pull off super short cuts! I find them adorable - 'spunky' even. But I don't think I'd ever use the word 'sexy' to describe someone with short hair like that. And I hope that statement doesn't offend anyone. I'm not trying to! lol |
It all depends on the woman, her age, her attitude, her lifestyle, her personality. To me, a woman's hair length or hair style has very little to do with how I regard her as a person.
However, I do find it very appealing when a woman does a lot of different, creative and/or imaginative things with her hair to alter the way she looks, either from day to day or from week to week, etc. But as a manager, I find it distracting to have to look at hair over a woman's face and/or search for her eyes because her hair is covering them (and I mean as her typical or usual daily hairstyle in an office setting). |
Huh. How about...
Short hair = Jeep. Long hair = Convertible. |
my boyfriend dreds the day when i might change my mind and chop it all off. most of the men that i have met enjoy a woman with long hair instead of short, all in all i can agree with them, having longer hair gives you the opportunity to be creative and change it up a bit. :)

Gimme a head with hair, long beautiful hair!
Shining, gleaming, steaming, flaxen, waxen Give me down to there, hair! Shoulder length, longer (hair!), Here baby, there mama, Everywhere daddy daddy... Hair! (hair, hair, hair, hair, hair, hair) Flow it, show it; Long as God can grow it, hair! |
I have always preferred a nice head of long, beautiful hair. But...I make do with what my partner's preference is :)
My hair was down past my shoulders back in the 19880's, when i was Jon Bon Jovi. |
Yeah, there was a long period of time I only dated musicians with long hair. The ones I lived with - lord, our bathrooms were a mess lol.
Cool to see the poll where it's at now (17, 9, 10.) But I do want to reiterate that if I felt I could handle it mentally and if I knew I could pull it off physically, I'd so go short for like, a year, just for fun. I love funky, pieced layers like this: http://img200.imageshack.us/img200/3449/70183359.jpg http://img23.imageshack.us/img23/9729/78551885.jpg |
short hair, long hair, whatever. I prefer it bald. sorry had to do it
|
Me too.
But that's another thread altogether. :o |
It actually really depends on the girl. I've seen chicks that look great with really long hair. I've seen chicks that don't. I've seen chicks that look great almost completely bald. I've seen chicks that don't. It's really all about how the hair works around the face.
I did vote long, though. Most of the time I'll take long over short. |
I was kinda expecting this to be a yes/no kind of question.
|
I typically prefer longer hair. I wife has it shorter though, which is fine.
|
I like bald chicks.
http://theworldaroundus.files.wordpr...aldnatalie.jpg I like women with long hair. http://www.haironthebrain.com/wp-con...yle-jan-09.jpg I don't like women with beards. :( http://mylt.ltcdn.com/files/images/h...drabanhart.jpg |
I'm down for anything.
I just like women. |
I prefer longer hair. Like woods mentioned in her original post it just looks feminine. Which is something I like in a woman. The middle pic in Reese's post is about the length I consider ideal. Past the shoulders but above the boobs. Although some women do look great with some of the shorter chin length dos, and I find myself thinking some longer haired women might look better with a shorter cut.

Setting the Devendra Banhart dig aside, Reese has it exactly right, and what a great example! The hair is just one piece of the puzzle. For Natalie Portman, both potential pieces - bald or long - fit wonderfully. (Though, I have to say, that second pic... DAMN!) For others, some styles work while others don't. The one thing I've noticed consistently is that the rounder the face, the worse short hair is likely to look on a woman. ---------- Post added at 10:39 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:37 AM ---------- It occurs to me, it would have been interesting to see the poll broken down by gender. |
Either is fine but I would say I'm more into short hair nowadays.

I prefer shoulder-to-boob length, but as long as it's long enough to grab I'm good.
