Do you use recreational drugs?

And the legal ones count too, including caffeine and alcohol. By recreational I mean, taking it for any other reason besides medicinal. So a glass of wine a day for your health isn't considered recreational in this thread. 1-2 cups of tea or coffee in the morning to wake yourself up isn't recreational. Drinking caffeine at night to stay up and have fun = recreational. Feel free to talk about the illegal variety too, I'd just keep it somewhat vague.

I definitely use alcohol and caffeine recreationally. Usually I find if going to a party I need both to have a good time. Alcohol for the anxiety, and caffeine because I'm a morning person and get tired after 10pm. Occasionally I use the illegal variety as well. Just making sure not to get addicted in anyway. And it depends what's available and what my job situation is (if there's gonna be drug tests.)

I'd actually like to smoke more, but usually don't get the chance as most of my friends don't. I recently learned to blow smoke rings, which is awesomeness. It helps a lot for my anxiety too, and I don't really get any negative side effects like paranoia. And I'm guessing its much healthier than drinking.

I've also been experimenting with the psychedelic group too. It can be quite disconcerting at times but overall I feel like I've gained a lot of wisdom in their use. I feel much more connected to the world and people around me and I usually come to some epiphany after an episode of their use. I just make sure to space out their use to at least a week between. What's interesting is that each plant only seems to have a certain amount of learning one can gain as a psychonaut. They don't really lose much potency from tolerance, it's more just like each plant has a spiritual lesson to teach. And once that lessons over, its done.

So, share your experiences!

PonyPotato 03-03-2009 11:08 AM

Not exactly.

I drink perhaps 1-2 drinks of alcohol a week, if that. Usually my total is 4-6 per month. I usually have a drink or two with friends to relax, often after a trying ride on one of my horses.

Caffeine I don't use recreationally. I drink tea, but always in the morning - I drink tea because I like it, and often choose non-caffeinated varieties. I've never used caffeine to try to stay up later.

As for other drugs.. I don't smoke, and I take non-prescription and prescription medications only as directed.

Strange Famous 03-03-2009 11:20 AM

booze most weekends
coffee or diet coke every now and again

blktour 03-03-2009 11:20 AM

I only drink two or three drinks when out, or even when home, then call it quits. Like rum and coke and the likes.

I do not smoke cigs. I dont like beer anymore since it is very heavy on me. I actually have cut back on all drinks lately. 2 weeks clean of all that and SODA haha.

I use to blaze up back when I was a kid. Now I just hit it once if someone has it, but not very often.

I have tried extacy when I was a kid, didnt like it so never did it again.

all in all, I am a pretty lame "recreational user." haha

thespian86 03-03-2009 11:21 AM

I smoke weed occasionally but not often. I drink too but again, not tons. I do drink a fucking copious amount of coffee though.

optik_nerve 03-03-2009 12:21 PM

I blaze pretty everyday. Drink occasionally if we're going out or something. I smoke cigarettes and drink coffee.

I've tried natural hallucinogens a few times and had great experiences.

ratbastid 03-03-2009 12:48 PM

I drink good coffee every morning.
It comes from a place that's far away.
When I'm done I feel like talking.
Without you here, there is less to say.

Erm... And a beer or maybe two with dinner most nights.

telekinetic 03-03-2009 12:52 PM

Sure. Drink a beer to relax once or twice a week, go out (or stay in) and drink to intoxication with friends and wife once every month or two.

I'd smoke weed instead but I can't afford a criminal charge or to fail a random drug test at work. The DAY it's legal, I'm buying a good quality vaporizer.

MSD 03-03-2009 01:18 PM

I don't get drug tested at work, but I don't make enough that I can spend money on much besides alcohol. It's a catch-22.

Willravel 03-03-2009 01:30 PM

No. I don't use any illegal narcotics, and I don't take legal mind-altering prescription drugs. I only drink now and again, and I don't get drunk.

Still, if marijuana is legalized in California, I'll probably blaze up every month or so. MSD, if we get mj legalized, you're welcome to crash here and smoke some of mine.

MacGuyver 03-03-2009 01:34 PM

Not anymore. I cut everything out. You name it, coffee, soda, weed, alcohol, cigarettes. I used to do it all, and it made me feel like shit. Now I don't and I feel great. It feels so good to get over the impulse to do those things out of habit. Especially if you were addicted, its much better to get over these things by yourself with no placebo. Feels good man.

Cynthetiq 03-03-2009 01:35 PM

no.

genuinegirly 03-03-2009 01:42 PM

Dangerous crap.
No thanks.

*Nikki* 03-03-2009 01:47 PM

Nope. Nothing illegal anymore.

uncle phil 03-03-2009 01:48 PM

i haven't smoked weed in years, but see no reason why it shouldn't be legalized...

that said, i do like my bourbon; and a big, fat cigar or two on the golf course sure tastes good...

I wouldn't consider a cigar a drug. There are no state-altering effects of a cigar that I know of. Cigars are more of a taste type of thing. Certainly recreational though.

Maybe if it's legalized there it'll cost less to find a cheap flight out than to drop $70 on an 8th of mids.

kutulu 03-03-2009 01:58 PM

I drink about twice a week and consume massive amounts of caffine. I used to smoke a lot of pot but I have essentially quit. If it is offered, I won't refuse but I'm not going to go to the trouble and risk of buying it.

edit, I quit smoking cigarettes a year and a half ago.

levite 03-03-2009 02:00 PM

I don't smoke cigarettes, but I do smoke maybe 3 or 4 cigars per year.
Probably have 1-2 drinks per week.
When I have some (irregularly), I spark up maybe 3-4 times a week, until it's gone.
That's about it.

When I was young-- like high school and college-- I used to shroom and drop acid from time to time, and several times I smoked opium. But that was it, and all that was a long time ago. I don't think I'd do any of those again today. They were fun, but now I feel like I'm done with that.

I am a big believer that weed should be legal, and most other drugs should be decriminalized, and all should be regulated and taxed, and the abusers treated as ill, not criminal.

Anormalguy 03-03-2009 02:19 PM

Two large cups of strong coffee in the morning, about 6-7 cigarettes a day, naproxen sodium as needed when my neck and/or back really bothers me.

I quit drinking over 15 months ago because I'm an alcoholic. I avoid drugs for the same reason.

SabrinaFair 03-03-2009 03:14 PM

4-5 cigarettes a day (down from a pack a day at the first of the year)
2-5 cups of coffee a day
1-3 drinks a week

Other than that, medicinal drugs only, and rarely at that.

snowy 03-03-2009 04:12 PM

I smoke spliffs just about every day when we have it. If we don't have it, oh well.

I don't drink very often, but I enjoy a tasty brew every now and again, and I'd never turn my nose up at a fine Oregon pinot noir.

That's about it, really. I drink a lot of coffee, and part of that is recreational, sure. I like the taste of coffee.

Glory's Sun 03-03-2009 04:28 PM

6 years ago I would have had a whole list.. but I've been clean for over 5 years now.

I don't do any caffeine

The only thing still on my list is alcohol. That's a nightly experience.. I drink too much.. wait.. no.. that's impossible ;)

I quit the "recreational" stuff..because it got to the point where it wasn't recreational anymore.. it stopped being fun at that point.

SexyCat 03-03-2009 04:33 PM

I don't regularly drink alcohol, I probably have 4-5 drinks a month. I drink way too much caffeine though and if I go cold turkey I get the worse headache!

Grancey 03-03-2009 04:35 PM

No, not me. I hate what I have seen happen to other people.

highdro69 03-03-2009 04:55 PM

Ironically, I've cut out pretty much every legal drug out of my life, except for alcohol. I no longer imbibe caffeine, I've quit smoking cigarettes, pills are a no go, and even if I'm mildly sick I refuse medication.
While I used to be a fan of the yayo and synthetic heroines, I've grown to see it as a colossal waste of time, money, and sinus membranes. I'll smoke weed 'till the day I die though, even if I have to take a break for job drug tests and school from time to time. I've also recently learned just how amazingly fun ecstasy is, so I plan on doing that again in the future, at a pace though (no need to blow my head up just yet).
So yea, booze, bud, and the occasional E are all I need :-D.

And dude...

I'm prepared to start a "Get this man some real weed at real weed prices" movement right now. WHO'S WITH ME?

Grasshopper Green 03-03-2009 04:56 PM

I'll have a drink or two on Friday or Saturday nights. I don't like getting drunk anymore. The next day isn't worth it.

I don't drink caffeine after noon-ish, so if I'm feeling tired and don't have to get up early, I'll drink espresso. It gives me a better caffeine buzz than red bull/energy drinks and tastes a hell of a lot better.

inBOIL 03-03-2009 05:10 PM

Alcohol occasionally, a heavy drinking night for me is 4-5 beers. This is usually followed by a few weeks of abstinence (not deliberately, I just get tired of it.)

As for illegal stuff, I tried a couple out several years back, but didn't like it enough to justify the cost/risk.

Sue 03-03-2009 05:30 PM

I'll indulge in alcohol occasionally with Sam, on the weekends, and I'll only drink coffee to stay up at night if I have a lot of things to do. Otherwise, that's it.

gardens 03-03-2009 06:08 PM

occasionally I will go to 7-11 and get a 64 oz. Mt Dew+add in whatever slushie takes my fancy(instead of ice), for the sugar and caffeine
other then that nope

I'm down.

70 bucks for an 8th of mids is ridiculous. I'm sorry dude, I pay 25 for a half 8th of amazing.

sadistikdreams 03-03-2009 06:30 PM

Let's see, I smoke half a pack a day, drink alcohol whenever I can afford to, or whenever there's a special engagement to do so.

As for the illegal substances, I'll buy coke when I A) Have the money, and B) can actually get it. Right now, I don't have the money, and I don't have a source, so that's why I'm not on it.

I'm sure a lot of people will disagree with illegal drug use, obviously, but I don't think it's such a big deal. I mean, I'd rather do coke and prang out, than drink and be beligerent. You don't know how many fights I've gotten into while drunk, compared to how docile I am when I'm on coke.

Another thing, I'm pretty responsible about it. I mean, I'm not sucking cock just for a bump, and I never let myself get to that point. Yeah, I fiend, but I deal with it. If I don't have the money to spare, then I don't buy it.

Zeraph 03-03-2009 07:18 PM

Yeah, I find it ironic how wide spread alcohol consumption is, even for people who quit their other vices usually still drink. I've seen it do more damage altogether than most illegal drugs and yet the wide spread conception is that alcohol is fine but OMFG don't take a hit from a bong!

I had a step dad who was a firefighter and an uncle who is a LEO, I used to go on ride alongs when I was younger. I saw waaaay more shit go down than weed or even coke has done to people. And saw maybe one bad incident with heroin. Those bad cases of addiction with illegal drugs you hear about are a lot rarer than we perceive them to be.

It's just like anything else, use responsibly and you'll be fine. Don't fear all that shit from the war on drugs propaganda.

ranton 03-03-2009 08:50 PM

No dope, blow or caffeine (4 years since my last Dew).
My only vice is a slash of Coke with my Jack (about 6 times a year).
In my youth it was 6 times a week...see what aging does for you.

It's all about moderation. I've even known a few people who genuinely did use heroin only once or twice a month, although they snorted it instead of mainlining it (which is generally the point of no return for addiction.) Plus, things like MDMA and LSD have severely diminishing returns, so you have to pace it and space out uses.

Xerxys 03-04-2009 11:47 AM

I drink but not regularly and I dont get drunk, last time I drank was 3 months ago. I dont smoke, or use any drugs at all except theraflu ....... I abuse that because it's winter, might be why I have mental stress.........

No illegal drugs, no coffee, no cigarettes.

I will have drinks with friends if I'm out. That happens maybe once or twice a month. Usually I don't have more than a couple, but I will occasionally have shots and that's a bit different.

yournamehere 03-04-2009 08:14 PM

My response for recreational drugs is the same as with alcohol - No thanks, I've already had my lifetime's worth.

SSJTWIZTA 03-04-2009 09:44 PM

i constantly have a lit cigarette.

i also smoke pot, do hallucinogens, was on meth for 3 years of my life.

ive done everything with the exception of heroin.

(p.s. the addiction factor of crack and meth is blown way out of proportion.)

biznatch 03-04-2009 11:10 PM

Coffee, cigarettes, booze whenever I get the cash, and weed. I wish weed were legal, and to me it's completely reasonable that it should be.

Lasereth 03-05-2009 05:15 AM

Nope, and never have. I actually haven't had caffeine for 2 months now which is the longest in my life.

Pretty much ditto for me except the weed use and smokes. Weed simply doesn't do it for me. But I sure as hell think it ought to be legal. I quit cigs about 20yrs. ago. One of the best things I ever did. I quit when they went to a buck a pack, thought that was nutz. I have to have coffee in the morning or I don't move well and I like a drink now and then. I'd probably drink more often but I've watched people down here get into the mode of starting in the morning and drinking until they crash, take a nap and start all over at dinner time. I've seen many people go over the edge here. Booze, like any other drug in my opinion, is best in moderation.

Telluride 03-05-2009 07:21 AM

Caffeine is the only drug I use. And the only other drugs I've tried in my life are tobacco and alcohol. Nothing illegal.

bradexample 03-05-2009 08:00 AM

I've tried almost everything and think that weed should be legalized.

BadNick 03-05-2009 08:02 AM

I've never smoked cigs in my life, but a nice cigar I'll have a couple times a year.

I drink two cups (one big mug) of very strong coffee each morning and really enjoy the taste of that one, and the caffeine jolt, but that's about all I want. On weekends maybe I'll have another in the late afternoon. I almost never drink any "soft drinks" or other sources of caffeine, or sugar.

I drink a beer now and then, quite rarely at home, but mostly going out with the guys at work and having a few, or at parties. I would drink more beer since I enjoy tasting all the varieties, but due to calories and my lower activity level I don't want to put on the weight. Same with wine, and an occasional harder drink now and then. When I go out to a nice restaurant I almost always have wine, sometimes a couple beers.

For many years...like about 30+ years...I smoked weed virtually every day but a few years ago I decided to stop, mostly because my two boys at home who are now 12 & 13 are too intense to relate to when I'm stoned, plus my concern for being a bad example to them as they became aware of this sort of thing. I have no hesitation blowing a joint or bowl at a party, and I suspect when the kids grow up and move away I would gravitate back to smoking now and then since I find it enjoyable.

Many years ago, like when I was a teenager in the mid 1960's and as I got to 30yo or so, I tried all sorts of things, but now I have no interest in that.

highdro69 03-05-2009 08:11 AM

Nick, are you going to have "the talk" about weed with them, present the facts responsibly and what not, or are you going to let them figure it all out for themselves? I ask out of pure curiosity.

dlish 03-05-2009 08:56 AM

That's actually a timely question for me, highdro. About two weeks ago my older boy's locker in middle school was searched and he was also briefly questioned; some of his friends were questioned more extensively; they didn't find anything in my son's locker or on him so he's in the clear so far; since he's seriously into sports and fitness he's not yet inclinded toward recreational drugs yet, though I realize the risk is there in many ways. A couple of my son's acquaintances are being further investigated for suspicion of bringing pot to school and I heard one kid is being expelled. So right after all that I had a talk with them. So far I'm laying down the law from the point of view that it is absolutely illegal, can get them in big trouble in school and with the police and endanger their future in school, sports, other activities they like, and in some cases it leads kids to get involved in much more serious, harmful drugs...so don't do it until you are an adult and can make the judgement for yourself...if you want to talk about it or need help, I'm here. I'm just too familiar with it so I highly doubt they could possibly smoke or get stoned without me recognizing it.

Quote:

Candy flipping is a colloquial term, or drug slang, which refers to the psychoactive experience of combining LSD and MDMA[1] (or MDA, a related substance).

These days I do the occasional brush and floss with speed, smoke pot (no ciggies for me) the occasional e and alot of booze and caffeine

I used to be a serious addict - I still won't have anything to do with coke or it's dealers - too much temptation.

Gabbyness 03-06-2009 02:15 AM

Binge drinker on the weekends. That's about it . . .

I'd smoke if it didn't make everything I own smell like ballsac.

Booze, cigarettes, LOTS of coffee. I've cut way, way down on the booze--maybe two drinks a month--and gave up MJ a decade ago. And I don't really miss the booze or MJ.

Turpis 03-07-2009 07:21 PM

I quit smoking 15 years ago.
I only drink coffee on those long never-ending days at work.
I'll smoke weed if there is some available, which is rare. (and am quite happy it has been decriminalized here now. <1oz = civil fine only)
Used to drink like a fish but now might have a six pack per month.
Never tried any other drugs.

in my 30's coffee and booze

n0nsensical 03-12-2009 08:56 PM

I am a total psychonaut. I will try anything once, I mean anything, and I have tried most common street drugs. The only ones I've had more bad than good experiences with are the stimulant amphetamines. I also have never and won't shoot anything. My favorites are the entheogens and empathogens.

Yeah well, it's also the most likely to be commercialized. In my opinion, probably the next big "drug craze" as it is a great club drug. As we've seen with MDMA, legal status has little bearing on the popularity of a drug. I'm really wondering what kind of evidence they have that 2C-B is actually harmful. There is a pretty solid basis for toxicity of the amphetamines but 2C-B isn't an amphetamine. The 2C-Ts have a problem, namely that they are mild MAO inhibitors which does not go well in combination with most anything else. But 2C-B has a very high theraputic index and there have been zero recorded deaths from its use.

MSD 03-17-2009 12:00 PM

I have to disagree. If JWH-018 doesn't get scheduled after all this hype about Spice and Zohai, I'm pretty sure it's going to be big. A drug users' subforum of another forum I'm on is getting really into it, and toxicity and mutagenic tendency seem to be low pre-burning (if I had money to burn, I would run the Ames test on byproducts of complete combustion and vaporization to see how that turns out, I'm concerned about aromatic hydrocarbons being released when it burns.)

 I'm so glad to meet anyone who can fire off drug acronyms as fast as I can. The only question I would have with JWH-018 is why bother if pot is freely available? At least it is in LA and the Bay Area. I could take a 5 min walk from my apartment and pick it up probably any time of day. But then the Haight-Ashbury is only 10 mins from my apartment. ;)

I don't drink coffee, smoke cigarettes, cigars, or marijuana; I don't snort drugs or take pills of any sort.

... Kinda boring compared to some of your's

I drink a fair bit. Wouldn't consider myself an alcoholic, but I like alcohol very much; it remains my drug of choice. And I've tried other legal and not-so-legal substances over the years. I indulge in a cigarette or several from time to time; these tend to coincide with my bouts of unhappiness/moodiness or when I am pretty drunk.

My friends and I all don't understand why governments around the world prohibit the production and consumption of psychedelic drugs, when stuff like alcohol and cigarettes pose clearly documented health risks, to oneself and to others.

JWH is legal (if you interpret the analog act to allow prosecuting for it, you might as well bust people for cocaine analogs when they sell sugar-laden drinks,) won't show up on a drug test, and costs significantly less than pot. You don't get the synergistic effects of CBD and other cannabinoids, but it's a heady high.

and just where could this be obtained?

I was using Caffeine until about 2 weeks ago. Some guys at work and I decided to quit for lent. It has been very telling so far.

I've done some deep dipping into the ethanol based beverages during my early twenties though not any more. Alcohol lost it's charm after having one to many bad experiences while drunk and after that I've just stopped drinking it.

Tried some weed when I was around fifteen and I can't for the life of me figure out why it is illegal and alcohol is not. I had way less adverse effects and I enjoyed myself a whole lot more on THC than I ever did while drinking beer. Heck I wasn't even hung over after the buzz had died down.

Never tried any of the heavier stuff, I've studied the effects of amphetamines and other synthetic/heavily refined drugs on the nervous system and it's not a pretty picture. No way I'd knowingly subject myself to that.

Aside from that, I try to get a little adrenaline boost every day just to get the blood flowing (pretty neat that we have this wonderful drug being produced naturally in our bodies).

I'll give up just about anything for Lent, but caffeine is the one I haven't managed yet. I went a week without caffeine in early February due to being sick with kidney stones, and it wasn't bad, but I figure why quit drinking coffee if I don't have to?

Your teeth, snowy .... your teeth for the love of god!!!!! Coffee has wreaked havoc on some of the whitest teeth I have ever seen. I would very readily snort cocaine, do crack, meth ... but I cannot WILL NOT smoke, get a tattoo or a peircing simply because ... well, I actually don't have a rational reason why I don't want anything 'mark' related on me!!

Google JWH-018 and start going through the results. I'd rather not draw that kind of attention to TFP. Check bluelight's thread for dosing, effects, etc.

Have any of you seen these ads? I'm thinking that when I retire, supplementing my income by becoming a professional burrito taster would be rewarding in several ways:
