my rant of the week
I hate refurbishers and liquidators.
My wife bought a refurbished xbox 360 for me as a xmas present. I had it about 5 days and experienced some issues with turning it on and off, so I sent it back under the warranty. Got the replacement back after 2 weeks and had it a grand total of 4 days before it stopped working again with a different issue. Sent it back and waited on a replacement. I got it back on friday and it was like they sent the same one back to me, didn't work from the get go. Called the liquidation company again, but this time instead of having me send it in for yet another replacement, they decided they didn't want to deal with me anymore and lose money, so they are just going to have me send it back in and refund my money. Now i'm so pissed because my wife is upset that the only gift she bought me for xmas didn't work out because she tried to get a good deal and i'm not even wanting to get another one just because i'm tired of dealing with the whole issue in the first place. I know that Microsofts warranty and return policies suck ass anyway and it's better just to not deal with them for what would feel like only renting the damned thing. |
how much of a deal did you get out of it?
that does suck though. this is the main reason I dont by used. |
the wife bought two of them from the same company. I think mine was 220.
|
shoot. ill sell you mine for $220. hehe.

I reckon you's shoulda just shot that sucker wit yer S&W 629 Classic 8 3/8. 240 grains of JUS-TUSS!
... I don't buy refurb electronics. I have enough issues with the new ones. Especially printers, it seems. |
I really dislike Microsoft. I've spent too much time talking to too many non-English speaking people asking questions like "the turn-on system computer is plug in the outlet of wall electric at this time, yes?"
Oh, yeah and I gave up on used electronics long ago. Except tools. I've gotten some damn good cordless DeWalts on the cheap. I think people buy a cordless drill, hang some dry wall over the weekend and take it back on Monday. Nothing wrong with them except there's a "R" burned in the case somewhere. |
agree with your rant
as an add on to previous post used kitchen appliances usually work very well, currently using a blender made in 1962 to grind ice and make peanut butter milkshakes used toy electronics is generally not a good place to go the games on the other hand should almost never be bought new good luck with finding a cheap NEW xbox 360 never give up even if you have to wait 20 years to find the right deal |
Um, a new XBox 360 Arcade edition is 200 bucks. Here, if you like Best Buy.
Before you buy consider that this is the arcade edition, and that there are different editions of the Xbox360, the things that differ in each are stuff like hard drives space (or presence of one), Wifi-readiness, etc. |
In the last ten years I've bought half a dozen Macintosh computer refurbs straight from Apple, and everyone has worked flawlessly. One even had a bigger harddrive and twice as much memory as I thought I was paying for. A couple of Uniden cordless phone refurbs were great also. Not so lucky with a Canon laser all-in-one, which died after one day. Its replacement has been working great for about six months, though.

Best part of all this is that it doesn't matter where you get the Xbox, you have a 50/50 shot at whether it works or not.

I really like refurb electronics. I've never had a problem with mine--and I find it reassuring that a tech actually personally had their hands on it and made it work. That's better than you can say for a device fresh off the assembly line.

I hate when Christmas presents end up not working / not turning out like you'd hoped. It makes you feel like a piece of crap, heh. My girlfriend has been in tears when she got me something for Christmas and it broke or didn't work.:love:
At any rate, I think you'll love the 360 if you get one that works. I have an absolute blast with the thing. I used to hate consoles and was exclusively a PC gamer. Now I have 42 games for the 360. |
