HELP! Need car games
Going on a long drive with a 3 yr old. Anyone got good car games that a 3 year old would be interested in?
|
I play the license plate game with my kids....I make them keep track of all the different plates we see from different states, but your 3yr old may be too young for that....You could have her count Big Trucks, my kids like that too.
Have fun! |
This game is probably not right for a 3-yr old, but here it is anyway. ScanSong.

Seems like a cool car game-not for a 3 yr old, but cool nonetheless.

Pick a color and count the cars of that color.

like in Lilo and Stich...
"Punch Buggy! No punch backs!" that's always a crowd favorite from 3 - 93.... |
there is always the ever popular game of stick quiz.
one player starts off as the leader and asks the other players questions. If they answer incorrectly, the leader hits them with a stick. Hours of great entertainment and family fun!! Well, maybe dysfunctional family fun...... |
Try "I-spy" in the car. There's usually lots of items to guess in a long trip. She may pick an object outside the car which can make for hard guessing as it has long since disappeared from site.
|
the alphabet game. You have to spot something outside of the car that begins with "A", call it out, then everyone begins looking for "B", etc.
It starts getting tricky towrds the end. :) |
This is easily the most addictive, and works with all ages:
The windmill game. Everytime someone sees a windmill, they say 'windmill', and receive a point. Everytime someone calls 'windmill' and it isn't one, they lose a point. Sounds stupid, but is VERY addictive, and gets very competitive and narky... |
Three-year-old on a long car trip? How about the I-bet-you-can't-drink-this-shot-of-NyQuil-really-fast game? Let the child go first, you second, make the wife drive. :D
|
The "throw the kid in the trunk then drive" game is pretty fun. My parents used to play it with me alot. No wonder my spine is shaped like a question mark.

Although I'm sure the Nyquil comment was a joke, there is one related item.
My boy used to get carsick on long car rides, and we tried childrens Gravol to help him. The side effect was that he did fall asleep in the car easily. I am not suggesting you use this unless your child gets car sick, but it seemed like a related bit of information re: car rides with children. Pls. consult a doctor or at least the pharmacist too. |
