Facebook: Do you have one?
I was curious how many members actually have a facebook. I do realize there are threads mentioning keeping in touch with folks outside the TFP however none specified toward facebook. If there are...apologies.
I have a facebook, it's pretty common for most college aged people to have them. James has a facebook as well. My mom is constantly paranoid I'm going to be stalked and murdered through someone on facebook, but I think you take that risk when getting involved with anything of that nature online. One just has to display the correct amount of information, meaning not too much. We both were found there one day. We had friend requests, and it took a minute for each of us to realize who it was. Any of you guys have friends from the TFP on there? |
No. Facebook is like MySpace. I don't need either in my life. I have a MySpace somewhere... needs to be erased.
Oh, btw... there was this rumor that World's King is a Facebook serial killer. |
i have face book but very rarely go on it as i use my myspace more
|
I hate MySpace. Facebook is more to my aesthetic.
So, yes, I have a profile on Facebook. |
I have never been to myspace before and don't ever plan on it. Unfortunately I kind of have a facebook profile, just to get an old friends email address. I have not deleted it but there is nothing about me on it, you have to be my friend to view it and I have not logged in in a month
|
I am on facebook, only because a lot of my friends are on it and I've found it amazing to find and get in touch with people I haven't seen in years through that thing
|
There's several people on FB from TFP. I've got an account but mainly use it to play scrabble.
Which reminds me - it's your turn, baby. ;) |

i've heard that rumor also... |
yes, I do, in fact there is a TFP facebook group, if you want to join. Onesnowyowl is the admin of the group.
|
I don't do Facebook. I have a completely empty MySpace account, because a friend of mine "blogs" there (to the extent that you can, and JEEBUS why you'd choose MySpace to host your blog...) and you can't comment without being a member. I have a Live Journal account for the same reason.
|
Ditto RB. I have a MySpace so my former students and I can chat, and a Live Journal account so I can keep in easy contact with a dear friend in London. No Facebook. (Do not want.)

I looked for it... but there were a lot of groups with TFP in the name and none that were obviously ours... |
I used to have a MySpace and realized I never used it so I erased it.
Now I have neither. |
I have one because a lot of people I know have one, but I pretty much never use it. Everyone has myspace, which I'm not REALLY a fan of, but it's been doing great for increasing the number of listeners to my show.
|
I was peer pressured into getting one but it's proven to be somewhat useful. I'm part of TFP's Facebook group, too :D
|
|
Yea, facebook is a great way to get in touch with folks you long lost contact with. I've found some of my elementary school friends on it as well as some middle school and Sunday school.
I found the group on facebook btw. Thanks for the info! I much prefer the look of facebook to Myspace. I have a myspace but check it very rarely. Too much junk in my box, |
It's pretty much just a place to post pictures where everyone I want to can see them. There's the unfortunate need to go and untag pictures of myself that I wouldn't want potential employers seeing, but it's not that bad. Any crossover of my online personas and real life has to be sanitized in case I get a job somewhere that checks it. I may have to delete my myspace because of it since the name in my URL can be cross-referenced via Google to another nickname that's exclusive to me, and that one can be traced to stuff that isn't an employer's business. TFP is also separate from real life except for friends who are members.
|
I have two. The original and the Russian copy-cat. Don't use either of them.

I deliberately made the group's name Tilted Forum Project so that it would be easy for people to search for and find. If a user searches for the phrase Tilted Forum Project, it's the ONLY thing that pops up. And those of you who have joined the group recently, feel free to friend me. I'm not on Facebook as often as I used to, and certainly not as often as Lucifer is ;) but I do check it daily. |
I've got a Facebook account because that's the way my High school buddies have kept in touch, and the way my karate class sends messages. Also, my brother and some of my cousins are on there. All in all, it saves plane fare.
I also have Myspace and Linkedin accounts for keping up with other sets of folks. |
No,
I'm older than most of you (43) and as such, it really doesn't appeal to me in the least. I did open an account once and searched a pile of names and only came across 2 out of scores that I entered. So obviously, my Generation (X) aren't really into facebook, or myspace, or anything else the like of. If I mention it to any of my contemporaries, they either roll their eyes and ask, "what the fuck do I want to do that for?", or ask, "what the hell is facebook?" I'm also a little bit more paranoid about my privacy. Part of me thinks it's something evil. :grumpy: |
I have facebook due to peer pressure, but I rarely update it.
|
I have one and it's been great for keeping up on my many disparate friends. I can't get out to socialize like I use to so such a site is very helpful.
However, I'm keeping it mostly separate from this place because they're different vibes. I'll never refuse a friend request from any of you but I'm not going to try and recreate this place there. It's just not the same. The Scrabulous app is great. I'm always up for a game! |
I love stalkerbook, I mean facebook. Much better than myspace, probably because all of my friends are on there and only a few myspace.

I understand what you mean about the separation of the two. |
I use facebook. You really have to have it if you are in college. At computer science conferences many people have a facebook account. If you want to network for a job, you'll need a clean facebook account.
Anyway, everyone on my facebook account are people I have met in real life; I think this is true for most people and that is why I prefer it to myspace. |

Yeah, well, I'm 41 dude, and I'm addicted to the thing and have 110 friends from all walks of life and all age groups. |

Dude. |
I keep a profile so old friends that i've lost contact with can find me, but don't really use it for much else. my entire office is on facebook and alot of people use it to organize outings and such. i just rely on word of mouth from my friends about parties...etc.
|
I have a Facebook; it spread like a virus at my University when it first came out, to the point where I don't know one single college student I've talked to that doesn't have one
One thing I find amusing is when people are like "I have a MySpace, but Facebook? Jesus, no. Never will I have a FACEBOOK!" and vice versa. They are the same thing, they just look different. With the introduction of Applications into Facebook, it has become just as bloated and ugly as MySpace. I keep both just so I can keep in touch with friends and see what's going on with their lives (sounds pathetic, but it works very effectively). It's also good for seeing what's going on with people you don't talk to that much. It's basically a perpetual high school/college reunion. |
i have a MySpace account but still cant figure out why.
never even visited Facebook, but might now. |
Well I'm 39 and I have one of both, and they have very few friends "in common"
I like them both |
I have both.
Facebook comes in handy in hunting down phone numbers and contact information that I'd otherwise have no means of obtaining. I don't use it for much more than that though. There are so many worthless applications and "important updates" on it, that I can't weed through the countless piles of shit staring back at me. MySpace I use more frequently as I find it quicker to navigate and have fewer oodles of junk to sort through. I also use it to keep an eye on music that I would otherwise have no exposure to because of where I'm located, and that's my primary use for it. |

Just keep me in your dreams. I'll show up at your front door soon... |
no. dont have myspace or facebook.
I am only 24 also. ALL the people that I know have them. why get this if you got TFP?? =P |
yeah, I have a facebook account.
I personally have found it a pretty cool way of making touch with some people I went to school with, etc |

Strangely enough, most of my peer group are heavy users of FB (47 to 48 year olds) and I often get criticized for not responding to messages on it. I have no issues one way or the other about it, except to say that it often eats up time. |
I have both Myspace and Facebook. I use Myspace to keep in touch with high school friends, and Facebook (which I like more) to keep in touch with college friends.
|
I do have a FB account. I find it useful to keep in touch with friends who no longer live in the area, plus for planning events. I am on the TFP group too.
