"Crack"-ing MLM

OK, time to have some fun.

I'm being rather aggressively approached by a representative for a utilities company which uses MLM to sell its' services. I have to say this is the first such thing I've heard of which sells services instead of products.

I'm meeting this gent in a bit, and he's gonna try and hit me with the pitch. He's already offered to waive the "license fee," so I think I may have a real live one here. If this turns out to be a scam, I intend on having as much email-related fun as I can with this, all for your enjoyment.

I have to say, however, that I'm intrigued by this. I've never heard of an MLM scheme working out well, but all such things that I've heard of involved product sales, not services. Services could theoretically avoid the market-saturation problem with product sales...in any case, he's buying the beer.

Looking forward to your tale...

Big Planet?

Well, no roofies and no obvious signs of a scam so far. No huge presentation, onl y passing reference to sales figures, and hard numbers on market share, turnover, and rate of growth. Company operates in about a half-dozen EU nations, no major complaints that I can find on the web, and they've been around since 2000. No payment for signing people up. Hmm.

I think I'll play this one a little longer, see what he comes up with. I can't find any serious complaints about this company from the UK, even though they're fairly high-profile. If it's a scam, it's a particularly well-thought-out one.

Cynthetiq 07-20-2007 09:07 AM

The_Dunedan 07-20-2007 09:38 AM

Euphony, a British outfit selling mobile phone service, internet, etc. Anybody here have any experiance with these guys? They're never getting any money out of me, no doubt of that, but if they're legit I'd like to know. Cuz otherwise...:)...we gonna have some fun...

Are you seriously asking if a company named YOU PHONY is legit?
