Add a seat cover.
Grab the door handle before SLIDING over in your seat.

what's the difference in adding a seat cover compared to my regular cloth seats?

the shocking happens when i get out of the car. whenever i push the door frame, i get shocked!

What kind of car is it?
Maybe you're really charged.

when you get out, hold onto the outside of the door, see if that helps. you maybe charging your self as you slide out, then discharging when you touch.

Well, hold on to a metal key, and touch something metal with it. This will dissipate the charge, with no shock to you. It's all caused by friction, and usually dry air, but why in rain? Who knows.

The static is most likely being caused by your clothes rubbing against the seats of the car. If you go the seat cover route, you would have to choose one not made of the same static inducing artificial material that your car seats are made of. Grabbing the door handle/key will help since they are poor conductors and the charge will be dissipated more slowly. This is usually a problem in the winter, but once the humidity level rise of quite often goes away.

This happens to me all the time. The easiest fix? Use fabric softener when you wash your clothes.

grab the metal of your door frame before you start sliding off the edge of your seat.

the Cartalk guys said that different brand of tires can fix it. but I havnt changed my tires and found out.

You could install a "static strap" under the car.
Something like a rubber tail (that is somewhat conductive) that is attached to the car frame and touches the ground.
Hopefully this will bleed off the charge.
If you need tires consider the anti static ones.

i just bought new tires 2 months ago....i guess i'll look into one of those static straps! thanks
