Not going to see Xenu? I mean, MI:3...
Okay, who's going to see MI:3 and who's not? More to the point, are you not going to see if for a particular reason?
Let's check out the reasoning behind this deal.

I'm not both because Tom Cruise has turned me off quite a bit recently and also because it looked like a crappy movie based on the previews.

I'm going to see it, but I'm certainly not going to rush out for it. I remember the TV show focusing on the whole team, whereas the movies have mostly been about Tom. Also, the action is a bit more cartoonish than I really care for.
That said, the reviews haven't been too bad, so I'll go when the opportunity arises. I ain't paying full price though.

Saw it.
Not a big fan of Tom Cruise in real life, and to be honest not a huge fan of the Mission Impossible movies. However, they are enjoyable enough, and have quite a bit of respect for Tom for the amount of stunts he does on his own. Not a great movie, certainly not a terrible one, though...

I've not had any interest in the Mission Impossible movies. I'm not a big action movie fan and I'm even less of a Tom Cruise fan. My dislike of him has nothing to do with his Scientology shtick, though. I've thought he was a dwong ever since Top Gun.
There are a few action movies that have surprised me, but typically it's not a genre that I find much interest in.

Meh, the first two sucked. Probably will give this one a miss. Not seeing it would have nothing to do with the fact that Cruise is batshit insane - hell, if I boycotted movies on the basis that the people acting in them were dickheads, I wouldn't be left with much choice in the cinema, now would I?

Saw it- liked it a lot
I mean... to me, whoever an actor is in real life doesn't affect his on-screen characters, at least in the case of Tom Cruise. It's not like he's Oscar-worthy. I'm not going to a Tom Cruise movie expecting riveting dialouge and a water-tight plot, I go to see him do his goofy-assed "OMG!" run at top speed either towards or away from a building that has either been blown up or might be blown up sometime in the immediate future. Personally, I thought MI3 was a bit of a knuckle-biter, but then again I'm just a fragile minded woman ![]()

I’m not going cause I would rather see Silent Hill rather than MI3 if I were to go to the show. I have in the past refuse to see stuff because of the people involve. I never watch a single episode of Everyone Loves Raymond or ever shopped at an ACME supermarket, cause I hate Patricia Heaton and what she stands for. Same thing goes for Charlton Heston, Tom Clancy, and Ted Nugent.
While I don’t agree with Tommy, I don’t see him on the same level that I see the others that I mentioned. I’ll probably just wait till it comes on HBO. |

I'm not going because I can't remember the last movie of Mr. Cruise's that didn't suck eggs.
I cannot for the life of me justify spending $20 on a ticket and a coke to see this thing. That and (I could be wrong) I just don't see Phillip Seymour Hoffman as a bad enough fellow to pull something like this off. I don't get a James Bond-destory the world kind of vibe from him...more like a creepy clingy guy with a weird sexual proclivity type vibe. [edit] I also forgot to mention that Tom Cruise plays basically the same character in every movie. Only the wardrobe and the name change. "Ethan Hunt" in M:I is Tom Cruise in a black t-shirt, "John Anderton" from Minority Report is Tom Cruise in a jacket and "Daniel Kaffee" is simply Tom Cruise in a uniform. So...I probably won't be seeing it.

I will eventually get around to seeing this film... though it will likely be on video or when it is broadcast.
I could care less about whether any actor is "batshit insane" or not. This has no bearing on whether or not I am going to enjoy a performance or a film. The fact is, I don't know about the lives of the vast majority of people I see in film and television. I can guarantee you that there are more than a few actors that I wouldn't get along with if I knew them in real life. The fact that Tom Cruise's life (or something similar to his life) is splashed all over the media is entirely besides the point. As for Tom Cruise's acting abilities. He has the ability to act. I've seen him in a few things where I was pleasantly surprised by his abilities. Guthmund, feel free to rag on him for "being himself" but you should also level the same criticism at someone like Robert DeNiro. These sorts of actors are not character actors. They don't rely on transformation for their roles. Rather they play various aspects of themselves. It's what people like to see.

I'm not going to see it because I heard it sucked, and action movies are generally not my thing. And Tom Cruise is a freak.
But I would like a voting option added: "I might go see it just to see Philip Seymour Hoffman beat the crap out of Tom Cruise."

I'm not going to the theater to see it. I will probably rent it eventually simply because I've always enjoyed the mission impossible shows. I'm less motivated to even rent it though cause of the things that have been coming out of Tom Cruise's corner in the past year or so. I'll probably only rent it if there isn't anything else good at the video store at the time.

I passed on the employee screener because I didn't think I wanted to see it.
Turns out I want to see it because it was directed by JJ Abrams. Can he bring the MI franchise some interesting take like John Woo did? I doubt however I will pay $11.50x2 to see it in the theater.

I saw it. I hated it. I didn't hate it because of Tom Cruise, I hated it because the first half was boring, and it didn't become decent until the last 20 minutes or so.

I thought it was a ton better than the second MI and I liked it. I saw it for no particular reason, actually I didn't choose it. My dad chose the movie and I went. I mean... its 16 bucks for a frickin movie! I'm not going to waste it.

I have no desire to see it. I will not rent it. Tom is a freak. The movie cast doesn't even stand up to the TV cast, and never has.

I saw the first 'Mission Impossible' and loved it. Then I saw the second 'Mission Impossible' and thought it was a load of horse *. Given the fact that the second one was awful coupled with Tom's recently disturbing behaviour, I'll give it a miss.

Money that is spent on tickets goes to cover the cost of renting the film from the movie company, who gives money to Tom for starring in it, who gives money to the Scientologists. This is not a process in which I will participate unless threatened wtih large-caliber firearms.

MI:II was crap. I doubt they improved that much on this one, even with JJ Abrams at the helm. Besides that, Tom Cruise is ratshit-batshit crazy now.

You know, I liked the first Mission Impossible movie, but the second one was pretty underwhelming. This latest one looks even more like a crappy Tom Cruise action flick than the second one did, so I don't think I'll be seeing it any time soon simply because it doesn't look very entertaining.

It's leading the ticket sales the second week in a row.
I still won't see it. I can't help but look at Cruise and think, "what a freak." I can handle freaky, like Jolie or Thorton freaky, but he's gone beyond my capacity to handle freaky. The latest episode with the birth of Suri (Suri? WTF?) is a little too Rosemary's Baby for my tastes.
