Happy Valentine's Day

My favorite comic strip pretty much sums up my thoughts on today... :D

Happy valentine's day to you... :icare:

shesus 02-14-2006 05:11 AM

 Good one. I was just telling jj that since it's the first day of the school week I have to wear my navy and white uniform. I'm really bummed because I can't wear my super-duper pink, red, and purple valentine's day outfit covered with hearts. :hmm:

What an overrated holiday...no wait I think I feel a little more love in my heart than yesterday...no that's just heartburn. ;)

However, for those of you who celebrate the holiday and have a fun, romantic night planned...I hope you get lucky and have a blast. :D

Destrox 02-14-2006 05:18 AM

Sucks that I cant even spend Valentines day with my sweetie :(

Class in the first half of the day, work in the 2nd half. Free time doesnt start till 10pm, and I have to be to work at 8am the next day. Grrrr

But thats why we celebrated on Sunday :D

Happy Valentine's Day Everyone!

In Japan on Valentine's day, the girls give guys 'chokoreto'.
March 14 "white day" is when the guys return the favor... only with cookies or something.

FYI

Meditrina 02-14-2006 06:03 AM

I have mixed feelings about this day. It is sweet when the kids make me cards and my husband sent me a quick email to say Happy Valentine's Day. and that is really all I need. My mother in law, on the other hand, gets a bit carried away, but she does this all the time, she does not need a special day to do so.

Happy Valentine's Day, TFP.

raeanna74 02-14-2006 06:11 AM

Happy Valentines Day y'all.

Any day where the main celebratory food is CHOCOLATE has GOT to be a good day. :D

I'm morally opposed to the concept of Valentine's Day to be perfectly frank. Shesus put it best: it's not like just because the date is Feb 14 I feel more love toward onodrim or others than I did on Feb 13 or Feb 15. And if the people I love aren't aware of it, showing them that love because I'm "supposed to" today isn't going to bring them any closer to knowing.

But, if you enjoy celebrating Valentine's Day, more power to you I guess. Me...I'll laugh at mal's comic :D

Happy Valentine's Day, everyone...

Although I need to find a way to get popular culture to recognize "Give a dollar to BigBen Day", I can't fault the good folks in the Chocolate, Floral, and Greeting Card industries.

To everyone in love, please go crazy today. There are few moments in this life where society allows that, and this is one of them.

Everyone, close your eyes, and imagine how many people are fucking, right now, in your city. Now imagine your province/state. Now imagine in your whole country. Now imagine how many people are gettin' on across the world.

Awesome. Remember that scene from Amelie, where she counted the number of people having orgasms at that moment (quinze...)

xepherys 02-14-2006 08:12 AM

Happy V-Day all...

You need a special day for this?

I don't celebrate it. I don't give out jewelry because it's Valentine's Day(OMG! How do I know he loves me unless he spends all our money on superfluous jewelry once a year? How?!?) and I don't give out cards (Happy Valentine's Day....Dad?!?).

Maybe I'm a horrible guy, but it seems Valentine's Day surprises aren't romantic, they're sort of...obligatory. I mean, it's Valentine's Day...you know the SO is going to do something, right? It's Valentine's Day, they kind of have to.

So, forget Valentine's Day. Give 'em chocolate and flowers everyday. Get on 'gettin' on' 365 days a year.

Remember...I'll be thinking of you

You're so cute when you are being a curmudgeon -- but you can't out-curmudgeon me... :)

March 14 - -is the guy's equivelent to Valentine's Day - so my guess is that you don't want to celebrate that either?

Bill O'Rights 02-14-2006 09:07 AM

Valentine's Day iritates the hell out of me. It's all so...obligatory.

On the other hand...today is also Mrs. O'Rights birthday. Therefore, I never forget it. Kinda cool, huh? Two birds with one stone kinda thing. ;)
Don't worry...she doesn't get "cheated". There's enough Bill to go around. More and more every year, it seems. :(

Medium Rare, and put some emotion into it.

jth 02-14-2006 09:30 AM

bah it's no holiday... I still have to go to class, people still have to go to work. Ithink its silly that there's a day that celebrates the decapitation of a saint and then we all just give chocolate, cards and then get it on with someone.

I mean you could do that any day. Seems redundant to me ;)

Either way, Spreading Love is something I'll tip my hat to, so happy Love day

Well.... let's not be too hasty there....

Btw....sooo not safe for work there, eh? :p

snowy 02-14-2006 10:00 AM

Happy VD.

I really dislike this holiday with its crass commercialism and whatnot (boy, that describes EVERY holiday these days). I refused to support the candy/flowers/whatnot industry by buying my boyfriend underwear for Valentines. Yes, UNDERWEAR. He needed underwear, so that's what I bought him. I did, however, buy some conversation hearts, but that's because I like their chalky taste.

maleficent 02-14-2006 10:01 AM

it's a perfectly innocent website celebrating a wonderful day... :) nothin' says lovin' like a nice ...... juicey.....

steak (what'd ya think i was gonna say??)

pan6467 02-14-2006 10:11 AM

Bah humbug.....

Happy Valentine's Day...... I hope everyone has someone to share it with.

SirLance 02-14-2006 11:00 AM

Happy V-Day to all, but especially to Mal, the perpetually cranky. We love you especially because you are cranky. And, you are a good poster.

I am cranky too, but I am cranky and in love, so I guess my V-Day will be a good one!

happy happy Valentine's to all you lovely people

GH! Thank you... would you mind holding it while I get the grill nice and hot?

Grasshopper Green 02-14-2006 01:55 PM

Meh...hubby and I stopped celebrating Valentines years ago. I did buy him a card this year and some candy for him and the son...my son told me happy Valentines and gave me a kiss on the lips, which was the best thing I could have received anyway. Hubby's birthday is in a couple of weeks, I'd much rather put thought and time into his gift that day instead of such a commercial "holiday".

Thank you, and that comic simply ROCKS!!!!

I'd love a link to more lol

mmmmm..steak!

You all get an E-Hershey Kiss from me. Not as good as the real stuff, but at least it is electronic.

Slyboots 02-14-2006 03:34 PM

Being one that never really had a valentine, I dont see how I should be happy on this day. Not to mention I found out that my poli sci class started last Tuesday night and not today. It's turning out to be a pretty bad day for me.

MSD 02-14-2006 06:31 PM

I don't do Valentine's day. In lieu of a celebration, I'm going to go home and play Mortal Kombat.

hunnychile 02-14-2006 06:42 PM

It would be really cool if every person who loves another person, planned a "secret" Valentines Day just for the two of them...isn't that romantic?

Perhaps those are called Anniversaries for some.....not that I would know any more.

Just curious. /tfp could start this new tradition if we wanted to do that/

Okay, that is hilarious. :) Then again, I'm a woman and I really like steak and (giving) blow-jobs... so I guess that day would be for me, too.

In any case, I hope everyone had a good Valentine's day, or just a nice day in general (even if it is so commercially loaded). :)

My bf and I are apart today, but we "celebrated" on the weekend... just the same as we "celebrate" every weekend together! :D I made the rule this year that we could ONLY give each other valentine cards and nothing else... I did not want to incur more spending for either of us. He broke the rules a little and got me a bunch of tulips, which I let him get away with... :icare: but otherwise I think we managed not to get sucked into the plastic-hearts-and-chocolate commercial orgy. I hope we can continue this tradition. :)

Not that I would mind being sucked into a chocolate orgy... hmm.
