TFT question

For those of you out there with TFT's, what's the colour depth and if it's less than 16.7 million coulours do you notice the difference. It's just that I was lookin at some fairly expensive Sony screens and they are all 16.2 million coulours so I was just wondering what people's experiences are.

16.2 ~= 16.7

In other words, the human eye cannot discern anything past a few thousand colors anyways. Having millions only allows for smoother color transitions. Since all LCDs have a slightly more pixellated view, the transition of colors is far less noticeable.

I have no problems whatsoever. The problem isn't the amount of colours a TFT can show in total, but how many it can show at once. That's where the "contrast ratio" comes in. I've seen a 17" LG with 450:1 contrast ratio, and a 17" Samsung with 700:1, and you can really tell that the Samsung is better.

Too bad we've had so many dead pixels in the Samsungs - we won't even sell them anymore because of it.
