Question about Windows XP Upgrade

I looked over the board, and couldn't find an answer for my question.
So, I want to upgrade to Windows XP Professional, and figure I'd just get the upgrade version since it's cheaper. My question is, do I need my Windows 98SE disk when I'm installing Windows XP? I don't have the disk I used to put Windows 98SE on this computer, so if I need it, I guess I'll need to get the full version.

Yep, you need the disk. I'd just buy a Windows XP Professional Full Version OEM from www.directron.com or www.newegg.com for $140.

As long as you have Windows 98 installed on the hard drive and you don't format first, you won't need the disk.

I do agree with Lasereth though, just buy the full OEM version. In the long run it just makes sense.

When I upgraded from Win 95 to Win 98, I just bought the upgrade version. It was just an extra hassle to deal with.

Like everyone is saying, go with the full OEM version.

Crap everyone has said it, go with the full version, also stick with the Pro, not the home version, I'm glad I did.

If you're a student, look around before you buy. Sometime you can get a better price.

I got my copy of XP pro for $7 and MS Office for $21 from my campus bookstore.
