Cable Jack Hum -- Fukkin' Annoying!

I have my cable TV and computer both connected to my home receiver (a Sony model). When I have the Tuner or anything else selected on the receiver, I get zero hum. But when I select TV or Tape (where my PC is connected), I get a really annoying low frequency hum that will not go away! I've tried 4 different cable splitters and 6 different coaxial cables of different lengths--nothing works.

Any help would be very appreciated.

I have a power strip with one set of In/Out for a coaxial cable. I plugged the TV into it and it helped quite a bit for that connection only. I may have to buy another strip or something for the other source.

Edit: I plugged the TV connection into the power strip, and it took care of both the TV and the computer connections (the computer is hooked up to a cable modem, so the noise enters there). Anyway, before it was really noticable at only a volume setting of 5, but now I have to crank it to 15 to hear it.

You need more than a splitter, you need to isolate the ground or remove its effects. Take a look at these.

A few pre-built items: $59 http://www.audioxpress.com/bksprods/...t/pj-vr1ff.htm $99 http://www.audioadvisor.com/store/pr...p%20Eliminator $99 http://www.audioadvisor.com/store/pr...0TV%20Isolator $149 with splitter! http://www.audioadvisor.com/store/pr...ble%20Splitter I would bet you could find a schematic for one, but that would only be recommended if you are good with a solder iron!
