Portuguese pronunciation help

I'm reading a book originally written in Portuguese but translated into English. It has there sort of rebel soldiers called jagunços. I've been pronouncing this in my head as "ja(as in jaw)-gun-so(as in sew)". But, I remembered in Spanish that j can be pronounced like a h, so I was wondering if that might also be the case in Portuguese. If someone could shed some light on how to correctly pronounce this word I'd be really grateful.

Also called capangas (loosely translated - landless, armed peasants)

You would pronounce the j like the "s" in "treasure", like this..

Not sure why the link doesn't work, but copying and pasting the site works
