Played for a few weeks, got to the point where the game pissed me off so bad because of the highly scripted vehicle paths and the way it almost cheats. That may be the pissed off effect it gave me in the late late levels causing me to say that it cheated.. but I felt cheated.

Up to that point I thought it was one of the greatest games ever though!

I would never say its the greatest game ever.... GT3 beats it by leaps and bounds, yet I find it fun, the shitty AI makes it more interesting and makes me proud when i biff it into a wall, get lapped and still win =)

Old signature just wasn't doing it for me anymore, so now I have this new one. It's equally as stupid but at least it looks really long. I'm probably just going to keep typing until I run out of things to babble about and see how many people actually read this. I once ran down a hill, fell down and hurt my elbow; my mom said I would be ok, she kissed it and made it all better. I'm on race 90 something, but it's just pissing me off now.
The fact is all the cars are actually shit and the AI cheats the whole time. I hate games that cheat and I'd rather stop playing before I throw the control pad at the wall through frustration.

What cars do you use?
I used the Civic for the majority of the game then went on to the RSX and then the Skyline. Of them all, I'd still say the Civic is the best.

i was playing it pretty steadilly until I installed the patch, which made the game stop loading. I keep meaning to reinstall but I never get around to it.

I used the civic at first, traded for a tiburon (in the game anyway, that car can be made respectable), then an rx-7, followed by an S2000 (which doesn't perform anything like the real one) so I traded it on a skyline. I had just fully upgraded it and was working on getting something faster when the patch killed the game.

My biggest problem with the game is how fast-and-the-furious it is. And the mod list pissed me off. You pretty much HAVE to install a bigassed ugly wing, a stupid looking body kit, and neons in order to have enough style points at first to unlock the performance upgrades. Totally caters to riceboys.

Also annoyed me that these visual mods did not effect performance. In the real world if you put 50 pounds of vinyl graphics all over your car, and a 50 pound, drag-heavy body kit, you're gonna slow down. The game didn't model that.

Also, who the hell thinks 19" wheels on a civic is a good idea, but it upgraded my performance when I stuck them on there anyway. 19" wheels won't do anything but slow a civic down.

First off, the way the game works is that all the stuff in the visuals tab doesn't affect performance in any way. (Including the wide body kits, that was stupid.) And you don't unlock performance upgrades with style points, you only get them from tournaments (which unlocks them) and the sprint races set up by the other racers. You can run through the game without putting visuals on your car, it just might be a while before you unlock eddy's skyline, that's all.

EXACTLY how I felt. in fact, up until race 80 I played the game on HARD mode (beat all the races on Hard). An incredible feat if I don't say so myself. but, due to my sheer determination (and pathetic love of the series.......I own ALL of the games) I finally beat it. I used the skyline the last 3/4 of the game and beat ass with it.
