Heroes of Might and Magic?

Anybody play these games? Out of no where I remembered the game the other day and it was like an LSD flashback. I used to play HOMM-2 years ago with my neighbor and I was just totally struck with nostalgic memories. I went out and bought 4 and I'm pumped about playing! There's an online function too. woohoo

I played the hell out of 2. Only played one game in multiplayer. Took like 7 hours. I recently got 3 (which came with 2 and 1) its fun but not as fun.

HMM4 is a REALLY classy game. Tons of strategy, and plenty of ways to play the game. I prefer playing Order, with an emphasis on long distance attacks. Its easy to get routed by dragons, but when playing against the computer Order is really powerful.
Preferred Units:
Halfings - Ranged Attack
Dwarfs - Protect Mages/Genies
Genies - Ranged Attack
Titans - Ranged Attack
Assorted Heroes for any open spots.

Damn I just got done playing a single game in HOMM4. What a great time I had! If you liked 2, definitly look into four. I never played three but heard it was not as fun, I'm not sure why. 4 reminds me of two but much more modern with the gameplay as well as the graffics!
I'm yet to play online, I used gamespy but couldn't find any public games.

My fiancee loves Hero's. I introduced her to Hero's 1, 2 and 3. Now her little 4 year old brother constantly talks about it, and her 7 year old brother wants to play it all the time. Awhile back though, she got 4, and loves it. Just a little while back, she went map hunting, and loves it even more. She's a big Chaos magic fan.

meanSlpeen have you tried Age of Wonders or AOW2? Most of the attacks are long ranged.

Chaos is not so much a straight kill/be killed type of army. They have plenty of limitations based on the units you pick, but their spells are really good for TACTICS. You won't defeat an opposing army in one round, but if you liike thinking about what to use and when to use it you will like Chaos

Sun Tzu - I haven't tried AOW.

For map hunting, go look on google or yahoo and do a search for hero's 4 maps, should get quite a few, only problem is seems that them russians seem to like hero's to, and they make a ton of them, and neither of us can understand it.
