NBA Inside Drive 2004 - Tilted Forum Project Discussion Community

I picked this game up this week and have been hopelessly addicted to it. It's Microsoft's NBA game for the Xbox and is on Live using their XSN service.

The graphics are excellent. Faces on the models look like the real players, crowd movements, etc. Yummy xbox lovin'.

The gameplay is excellent although there is one major flaw in it: I can easily just keep someone under the opposite basket, hail mary the ball to him, and he has an easy dunk. Works every time. I learned that trick on Xbox Live.

XSN is a great idea, but it needs some refinements. I can't seem to get away from the annoying 14 year olds and find mature gamers. It's also really difficult to get a reliable person to meet me online for a game.

The commentary is the worst part of the game. They constantly refer to a shot as a "jimmy" and it just sounds like they are making insane amounts of sexual references. A lot of times it isn't seamless as well, and you can easily tell they are filling in a blank. I have just started muting the game.

Anyone else played the game? What do you think of it?

I've played this game in the stores. It was great fun the first time I sat down and played this, but before I bought it I went out and rented the latest NBA Live and EPSN Basket. While I think Inside Drive has improved from last year and that this years version does have it's merits I just can't see myself buying Inside Drive after playing Sega and Visual Concepts EPSN NBA basketball. The level of play is just so much better in that game. Blocked shots happen a little to often for my taste in EPSN but I could change all that with a slide of the "slider." I play ESPN online and it has the annoying 14 yrs olds on there too

As for bad commentary in NBA games, well I think it's like a standard. You can't have an NBA game unless you have decent to bad commentary. I've yet to see a game that has great commentary so far.

If you really in enjoy sim basketball you owe it to yourself to at least try ESPN once. The camera might take some getting used to but once you do you'll be fine.

NBA Live 2004's is the best of the bunch imo. Marv Albert is the man (well, minus that whole weird sex thing)
