MAME machine

Anyone here ever built one? I am really wanting to build one for me and my son. Any suggestions that will save me some trouble when building it?
ill prolly put a 1.5 processor or so in it, with a older Gforce4mx card in it since the older games dont need alot of graphics or processor power

Hey, I built a mame arcade cabinet a while back, and it couldn't be more fun.

What do you plan on doing for the controls? Are you building a whole cabinet?

You're right, most mame games don't need much graphics or processor power...here's some benchmarks:

Great job, thecow! It looks fantastic! I've got a MAME machine myself, though mine was a built from a kit sold by Hanaho Games. You can see mine here.

More info on the kit, if you're interested, can be found at http://www.arcadewerx.com

Does anybody have a link or some info on where I can get replacement/new parts for machines? I've got a neo-geo that I picked up for $200 and I wanted to turn it into a MAME machine. I'm having trouble with one of the switches though and can't find a replacement anywhere in the U.S.

For anyone that's done a conversion, what's the best way to go about hooking up the existing controllers to the computer. Also, should I keep the arcade screen or try and replace it with a computer monitor? I know that monitors have a higher res, but the original screen makes it look authentic.

Great work on the one's above btw, looks pretty tight.
