cool ^__^ I used to draw fan art too.. back in the good old days.. now I just draw my own stuff but I miss those old street fighter characters now and again.. thats why i bought the capcom design works art book.. its very good ^__^..

Very nice. I can draw quite nicely when I have something to copy, but, just like you, my originality lacks.

But hey, I say that, however we produce what we produce, if it looks good, all the power to us.

there is craft and then there is art. people who are craftsman, are people that can make something look beautiful, but have no originality to them. they kind of can see something visually and mimic it, reproduce it, and make it look very close to how the original was. there are tons of people like that, especially in graphic design. then there are artists, those who have their own vision and attempt to create original works, reworks, etc. you can take ideas from people, but rework them into your own idea of how it should be. you said that very rarely is it original.. so i assumed you more of a craftsman. please don't take that as an insult or anything, i think that both are really important to have.

Same here. I still have a ton of my drawings from middle school and high school. Mostly TMNT, Double Dragon, Mario, etc.... Now I love to draw portraits and figures. I'll have to post some of work for you guys sometime.

i don't think that you aren't creative. i think that when you're building your own style, the first step is to take a look at what other's have done and if you can mimic that you'll start to visualize what you like and don't like about it. take the good points that people use and make them stronger. i definately wasn't trying to put you down at all, i think you're very talented. you should definately keep drawing, original or not.
