'79 Firebird Espirit
I just recently got this car and beforehand it had been sitting for awhile. It runs with a battery, although a bit rough which is to be expected but it runs. Anyway I don't know a ton about cars so this might seem like a dumb question but would a chevy 350 engine link up correctly with the transmission of the firebird?

If the car has a Pontiac engine in it(which I am assuming since you knew enough to ask for a Chevy 350), the answer is no. But, finding a TH350 tranny and Chevy 350 ought to be as easy as taking a piss. Those cars could come from the factory with a SB Chev, so the parts to put one in should be pretty easy to find.

Well, if it has the 231 cid V6 the 350 won't hook up to the tranny... If it has the 301 cid V8 it might but I'm not sure which tranny 301 came with.... A 350 and a turbo 350 tranny was a option for that car so you could put them in but you would have to get a transmission crossmember, drive shaft and engine mounts from a V8 model. once you had those parts it would bolt right in.....

You should be able to find a decent turbo 350 for around I would say $300. It all depends on where you look. I suggest spending the extra money on a rebuilt one. Otherwise you could be taking a gamble with a used one.
