Question about referrals - Tilted Forum Project Discussion Community

While looking at my profile I noticed that there is a referral column:
what exactly is this, and is there any way to change it (I currently have it set to 0)? I don't think it effects me any, but I assume it might give the person responsible for opening my eyes to the wonders of tfp a twinkie or at least a better avatar or somethin'.

you get 1 referral every time someone signs up and mentions you as their referral in the proper field in their registration field

there are no real good uses for referrals right now.. but it lets people know you are a true TFP pimp and love the community enough to refer others to the fray
