Americans (and others?), does this film frighten you?

Should it?

I got a bit of a chill.

To me, the most memorable documentaries are also horror films. (Try Shake Hands with the Devil: The Journey of Roméo Dallaire on for size.) Does this film fit the bill? Is it just horror for thrills, or is this serious, like the Dallaire film?

Is the economic situation really as bad as this film makes it out to be? Is it worse?

Yeah, I definitely want to watch this film. The country is in dire straits economically, and hopefully this will start to turn things around. But I shudder at the thought of how social security payments will be doled out in 30 years.

As for other "horror films", try watching "Jesus Camp" sometime....

It all started in 2000 when the Republicans said, "hey, the government is taking in too much in taxes each year, the people should get that money back." With the targeted tax cuts to help certain groups of people that didn't work in the 80s, it didn't work in this decade either.

I wonder if this movie will show the effects of what will happen if the government goes bankrupt? Will it overtax the rich to provide for the poor masses? Are the rich getting a lot of business from the government and want the government to continue giving them money? Or do the rich want the government to fail so they will feel better since they will be better off than a lot of other people?

I will see this movie.

Looks interesting. Canada recently lowered GST by 2% and I hear it being told that now instead of having surplus we have a deficit.

Makes you wonder who runs the show, how can they let this happen in the first place, and worst yet, let it continue to happen.

The movie seems to lay everything out in very simple terms: your average person, me included, doesn't know just how in debt we truly are. I watched the movie the other day and I'm still flabbergasted about it.

I got the message in my international trade theory and policy class the last semester of law school. I left more than a few classes visibly shaken by what our professor had told us about the current state of the US economy. In trying to delay the inevitable downturn, we've made it thousands of times more potent. Not good.
