What's the Weather Like Where You Are?

I even wrote a poem about it in my blog.

 

We call it freezing fog here.
The results can be quite spectacular. It puts a very fine crystalline ice coating on everything it touches.
Then if the timing is right the fog lifts and the sun sparkles on an infinite number of jewels on all the trees and vegetation.
I'll have to see if I can find a picture to post.

 

I'd love to see a clear image of ice/frozen fog.

 

This is a spot on my bike ride to work near the river.
The freezing fog has just lifted.
I'll have to get another in the winter, when it's even heavier. This one was in the fall a few years ago.

 

To get a clear image of ice fog you need to get above it which is tricky because nobody wants to fly in that shit buts here's a good one, from Fairbanks.

Underwhelming, as per usual. We have 2–4in predicted, maybe, on Wednesday? Temps will probably be high enough that accumulation won’t amount to much and won’t stick around.

I’m still putting my studded snow tires back on my bike, so I can at least get to work. Sorry, Mom.

 

It was 70 degrees Fahrenheit about a week ago, just this morning we had to deal with slush & snow on the drive home from work today.

We had a couple of days of actual spring this past week, with temperatures in the 60s.
This morning: 15F with fresh snow on the ground.
This is what passes for spring in upstate NY…….

 

20F cloudy skies with a little wind, not too bad.
However, not really thrilled with them saying it's going to snow tonight.
And I can smell... feel... taste... whatever the sense it is you get after living in a state like Alaska, that the snow is out there, wanting to fall.

 

It has rained most of the week, but today it was clear and near 70. So tempted to start the garden, but I know better . The last 3 out of 5 years, we had a final freeze with snow in mid-April.

yellower is a word in the south this time of year

 

Feels colder than it should today and looks hella dreary out there, at least right now.

But tomorrow’s going to be 80°F. I’m ready for it.
