What was your first car?

Yeah a lot of the GM cars of the late 70s were junk.

 

First car I drove was a Chevrolet Metro (post the year of Chevy buying out Geo). No power steering, not even a cassette player! Pretty sure my parents lawn mower had a more powerful motor!

My first vehicle I ever worked on was a 67 c10 stepside that had a beautiful 327 in it, Holley Carb tunes perfectly, dropped and a bench seat - for Extra space - beautiful flat black with a red interior.

 

When I was a senior in high school (1973-1974), I bought a showroom-new 1973 Dodge Charger (bright yellow w/ a cream-colored vinyl roof, big-block 400 V8). I was the envy of my high school that year. I owned that Dodge until ~1990 and then donated it to the local high school auto shop. (Different high school. I'd moved since I graduated from high school.) I'd been saving money like Ebenezer Scrooge for years and finally blew it all on that car. It was worth every penny (especially the huge back seat! It's amazing what a girl will do in the back seat of a car, if it's the right car!)

The first car I bought was in high school, a used '68 Toyota Corona. That car had been abused, and also had a three sp AT; back then ATs & 4 banger engines left a lot to be desired.

After about a year I sold that POS to a friend, and bought a '71 Dodge Dart, 2 door, vinyl roof (that actually held up pretty well), with the nearly bullet proof Mopar 225CID "Slant Six."

One of the cars I drove before buying my own was a '52 Chevy DeLuxe. That car was mechanically sound, but had some very crude sanding work done the same guy who crudely painted it baby blue. I paid for 1/2 of that "paint job" and was expecting a clean car with a nice med/dark blue pro paint job.

My father let someone he worked with talk him into doing the work, and behind my back my father chose the color to match a car our family had many years earlier. To this day.........

Upstate NY ... Used it to go to Lake Mahopac from Adams Corners NY (Near Peekskill)

 

A1973 Fleetwood Brohm Cadillac. I paid 350.00 for it. It was long and black.

1979, brown, Chevy Nova, purchased new by my folks in '78.

Those were the square body style right?
if my memory serves me correctly 75 or 76 is when they went from the more rounded style to the more square style

 

not me, but i remember my dad telling me his first car was a 1955 chevrolet that he paid $555.55 for it. lol just thought it was odd. he will be 74 next month

Yes Turbo V 6 quick little sucker its 1/2 a 911.... More car than I need....1/2 way through the lease, probably get another one..(or Maybe another BMW X 5, if the shitty dealer doesn't try fucking me again like before the Macan I HATE CAR SALES PEOPLE THEY ALL SUCK The assholes shoot themselves in the foot just about every time

 

Yes they do, I see them all day (i work at a ford/lincoln dealer) they will say anything to sell a car. I hate them..... and god forbid someone caters in lunch they are first in line and have no manners and never clean up after themselves.

No, I wouldn't, as a "hobby' I used to buy and sell cars that I bought and fixed up. My partner was a super mechanic, could fix anything (sometimes too well) we'd get some mid and high end cars from a BMW dealer in CT, then we'd put them through the "FOUNTAIN OF YOUTH"

 

I once traded in a super clean Mazda MX6 (that's a misleading? sexy name for a two door 626), and mentioned at least ten times that car had around 62,000 miles on the original factory brakes. I wonder if someone wound up with a super clean used MX6 with lousy (doctored?) brakes.

 

1970 creme yellow VW Beetle. It was around 1976-7 when I got it. Mom bought it from her assistant.
