Legally I got a judge to require she stays 2000 miles away. It's my own personal 'no scissors' zone.

Of note is that Crown Royal Northern Harvest Rye goes for ~$30 a bottle.
    • Crown Royal Northern Harvest Rye: $30
    • Pikesville Straight Rye: $50
    • Midleton Dair Ghaelach: $150 to $250
    • William Larue Weller Bourbon: $80 to $100
    • Suntory Yamazaki Mizunara: $1,500 (?!)

My sensei was just asking if this new accolade will result in the price of the Crown Royal Norther Harvest Rye going up. I said, not likely. He was gobsmacked.

  12. My BIL in Florida has an unopened bottle of Pappy Van Winkle, don't know the age. He's considering cracking it next month when his first grandchild is born.

He also gets his Makers Mark in personalized labeled fifths. Belongs to some club.

Not a whiskey drinker, myself. I did do some damage to his vodka inventory while I was down there, though.

When I moved to Reno, I brought 7 bourbons with me and had a tasting with my bosses and the friend who was letting me stay at his place for free (for 6 weeks). I gifted two bottles to my boss, two to the friend, and kept 4 for myself.

    The ones I kept:
Willett's Pot Still Reserve - the favorite
Blanton's (a single barrel chosen by the company I bought these from) - my second favorite
Rock Hill Farms - a little smoky for me, but still yum

    Gifted:
    Maker's 46
New Riff OKI (another single barrel reserve)
Woodford Reserve Double Oaked (another single barrel reserve)
Russell's Reserve (yet another single barrel)

I absolutely love the Willett's and so does everyone who tries it. It actually tops Blanton's, which has been my long-time favorite for years (I'm on my 3rd bottle).

  15. Look what I found in a forgotten cabinet at my mother's house...
Barreled in 1950, bottled in 1962. It was unopened when I found it,
    but not for long.
This is what a 53 year old cork looks like.

    It tastes amazing!

I will try to make it last but now the flavors haunt me.

You can't NOT have one. It's the law. At the very least to one day say 'on a random Tuesday in Kentucky I did Pappy Jell-O shots at a bar'...
