    Folks, I had this thought early on, as did several other TFPers. After giving this clown the benefit of the doubt, I now firmly to believe that:

    An existing TFPer has registered with a new user name for the purpose of trolling. Some TFPers knew in advance (gut feeling, I can't prove it), and others have figured it out (pretty clear to me). Some of those TFPers are intentionally keeping the threads alive.

    If this clown wants to continue to post that he's for real, let the responses be a deafening silence.

    Not a previously known TFPer. A quick google search will confirm that Taneytown and AuntBea are not unique to here, and have been around other internet spaces for many years.



    I dunno, after spending way too much time on the staff of various message boards over the last 15 years, I have pretty thick skin for trolls who:

    1) Aren't being malicious.
    2) Aren't hijacking meaningful threads.
    3) Aren't trying to sell or spam.
    4) Are mainly just trying to be humorous or entertain themselves by harmless false claims or representations.



    To me, at this point, that's what we 've been dealing with. Some guy was bored, found this space, and decided to randomly spew out stuff to see what might be found funny, who might fall for it, or to just entertain himself. Though that isn't really what we are about here, he was civil enough not to try to hijack meaningful or serious threads, so the staff has let it be (so far). My personal threshold of really being annoyed by non-maliciousness online is pretty high, so maybe my irritation at all of this is much lower than most. I've had a little fun with it, some with comments poking holes in the persona, some with obvious sarcasm, but I've been (very) mildly entertained.

    Long term, I think he's got to turn a corner into legitimacy if he wants to hang around and join the community. The schtick is about worn out, but I think that someone with a decent sense of humor and some creativity could still have a good time here being legit. Someone who does this for a few days probably could be funny and creative enough to be amusing to have around, even while being "real". I guess we'll all see how it plays out. My main point is that none of it is really worth sweating over so far IMO.

    My opinion and $1.25 will get you a cheap cup of coffee. :D

    I was wondering if you broke into the logs for that. I wanted to see if my access would let me in there. Knowing Martian tho, my creds had been long deleted after no activity.

    He's harmless IMO. I like fucking with him and he's not causing problems. Give him enough rope to hang himself and see what happens. Again, Strange Famous set the bar for epic level trolling and he hasn't come near that yet.

    EDIT: He also brought out of lurkdom the Giant Hamburger, so that is worth having him on the new thread list all the time.
